OK, you, Kane and the Crow from Fiji and the AFL site and probably others all think he played well.
That's OK, no worries :thumbsu:.
I didn't. I disagree :). I'm allowed to and I've given reasons why. I like the bloke and think he will become an asset.
He had 20 possessions, 13/7, but used several of them poorly --- it's not always about how often you touch the ball but how you use it. He marks and goes back to take the kick = little run-on and slow thinker, at this stage.
You are on your own. He had a solid as game.

Every time you fail, you should make changes. Not just hope that next time it will all magically be different

In my opinion, this creates a 'reactionary' culture within a club. Everytime something doesn't work, change and do something different - does not always make sense.

The thing the club has been lacking is a clear strategic direction in my opinion.

Keath was not weak, he was great in defence. You need to re-view the game.

My 2 cents on Keath. Overall, he was very much involved and stopped many advances, but he had several weak disposals, much like Hartigan's MO. For example, he was directly responsible for the oppo's first goal. On several other occasions, he didn't look as though he knew what to do (not alone there). To his great credit, he kept presenting regardless and improved as the game wore on. (I stopped watching halfway through the third, so can't comment on the (irrelevant) later period.

So, I'm between the two polar Keath assessments on here, but maybe more realistic.

There is such a thing as a bad game. Surely now it is about how they respond next week? Dish the same rubbish up again and question will get louder.
No idea how some of you in here get thru life with such a negative view.
Looks like SYDNEY are dishing up similar sort of shit. Will be interesting next week.

I've defended Tex to the hilt. I love him. But he was as fresh as a daisy today, after his biggest preseason in years, and he looked no different to last year. It was a statement game today for Walker, Betts and Sauce and all 3 looked like they could be a week away from retirement. They still have more to give, and it's only Round 1, but it's becoming hard to watch them.

I don’t think we are giving Hawthorn enough credit. Clarkson drills and educates that team so well, and their defensive structures were brilliant.

You need good skills to work your way through their zone and we just didn’t have them, at least not in round 1.

Once they put us off our game early on we lost all confidence and then it was easy for them as we became stagnant.

We were out coached and outplayed.

At least the players had fun, And no Awerne
People need to relax it’s round 1!! Crows have a shite record against the hawks. Since going to Adelaide Oval they have beaten them once or something like that.

Kick outs were ordinary should went with the short kick style at times instead of playing on and kicking long. Also they were too static which effected every forward. The glowing concern is Jenkins is lack of work rate and is often rewarded with easy goals!
That makes no sense, So if we do not have to play Hawthorn to get to a grand final we should be good o_O

You can't blame the club for hanging on to average players....as we keep losing elite talent to other clubs....they dont want to play for us !!!!
As for the coaches....they probably dont want to be in Adelaide either.
Its just our supporters that cant seem to understand this.

Yes, you’re right. David Mackay absolutely deserves the 200+ games he’s been gifted. There was no other young talent, new talent, mature age talent or any other candidates in the league we could’ve drafted/recruited/traded for in the league. What absolute garbage.

There have been so many examples of mediocre players shitting the bed when the heat goes up a notch, or underperforming but continuing to be rewarded week after week for their mediocrity that it’s not just a coincidence. It’s the young guys who stay on the outer while the mature agers in the clique keep their spot.

If this club was serious then Walker, Jacobs and Betts would all have their necks on the block right now - won’t happen though. We’ll drop the first year talent, rinse and repeat.

Your example of not attracting talent both on field and administratively purely because it’s Adelaide doesn’t hold weight. It’s a seperate state of Australia not Baghdad - build the right culture and the talent will come.

The talent doesn’t want to come (off field and on) because it’s not exactly a well kept secret what the culture is like at this incestuous mess.

Might have something to do with the entries in though?

I'm sort of in agreement with you here, but his primary role to defend which he did quite well for the most part.

Our defence was under the pump due to the ease with which the pill came in.

Betts tried and was nearly there. Had we been collectively better he would have had more opportunities

Walker was awful. Injuries aren't the problem. He's done. Finished. He's lost the one thing he was good at (marking on the lead) so why bother any more.

Jacobs... Well he's been cooked for a while now

We've been through this a million times before. Just responding next week and puffing the chest out on that response is not good enough and will get us nowhere. It has got us nowhere before.

We need to fix and change it or we will continue to fail with handling bigger games or pressure. You have to handle the heat to get in a position to challenge. Then you need to handle a month of real heat, consistently, to win the whole thing. We aren't reliable enough to scrape through a whole September without tripping up somewhere, unless we get very lucky that we pass our due date of putting up a shit game.

And surely all the games it has happened in over the recent years don't need to be brought up again? It is a trend, not an event.

Eddie I'll give a break, the Hawks have always managed to negate him throughout his career and he did show some signs of urgency today.

The other 2..... more cooked than my lunch.

Your giving the club a free pass here. You dont hang onto average players regardless who leaves. That ****s your culture number 1.
Number 2 is why are we more than any other club losing elite talent? Don't mention adelaide. Nothing to do with it. More to do with players who aren't stupid and knowing when an organisation is rotten to the core and looks after their mates. Looking at you Mark Riccuito.
3. Coaches. You create a good program they come. Don't give me this adelaide crap. It's weak excuses like this that gets the club nowhere.

I thought our much heralded half back line was terrible. They made some really bad mistakes early which saw them go completely into their shell.

There was zero drive and attack from there which resulted in slow movement, rushed kicks and increased pressure. It was just hard work moving the ball up the ground.

Its games like these where the lack of class really shows.

I actually don't blame the forwards for this one.
The half back line is where it broke down.

No arguments from me re selection.....it’s a joke....a bad joke.
I’ve been depressed since Thursday night.....nothing will EVER change at this club....and we all need to stop pretending it will.
