If you're going with these trades you'd want to be pretty sure Newman makes top 6 for the year right? Otherwise you're trading him in and will need to trade him out at another point this year.

I'm pretty sure I'm doing the Collins -> Wilkie trade this week. My gut feel in the pre-season was he was a bust but I caved.

And that's the gamble.
I'm definitely going Collins to Wilkie or Joyce giving me 205K.

Whether or not i use my 2nd trade is still well and truly up in the air.

I think if you're upgrading Smith to Newman it's probably not worth it. Just because I think you then need to spend another trade on Newman later on in the year and you may not gain as much $ in the process. There's also a risk that JLT 2 happens in R2 where Simpson and Newman seemingly switch roles again (I wasn't paying enough attention but could this be due to match up?)

Most people will allow for 3-4 correction trades.
Whether or not that is on rookies or particular premiums is up to them.

If you have a gut feel, trade imo.

Me for example, i bailed on Darling prior to the WC game and went to Toby Greene.

So now I have 145K sitting there, and if there is something i believe can nett me more points over the next 2 rounds before price changes, i'm going to do it.

My gut feels are:

Collins is going to be a huge bust, Wilkie and Joyce have just as good job security.

Newman has a far higher ceiling than Brodie Smith and really I should have taken the punt on him, loved his disposal, going to really suit Carlton's game plan.

Sheed is a trap, has strung together 6 great games (3 finals, 2 JLT and Round 1) Prior to that, 1 tonne in 14 games and a shit load of scores under 80.

Oliver will have another lowish score down at the Cattery, 105 or less and have a break even of well over 200.

Grundy is severely underdone, i've never seen him hunched over so many times trying to catch his breath, his fatigue caused him to be quite sloppy with disposal and free kicks against.. I'm expecting him to drop 150K at least before finding his feet from Round 6-7 onwards.

Heeney is screwed if Horse continues to play him deep forward with only 5 minute stints in the midfield.
Great analysis, marvellous effort that! The issue for coaches will be which ones to prioritise and which ones are worth sitting on. All well and good to not trade premos and back them in but a dud premo or two destroys your season quicker than missing out on a rookie...

Say you picked Atkins or Gibbons over Scott for example and needed to trade 1 to get him in...

If Gibbons averaged say 50 up until he capped off and Scott 75, not factoring in the points difference but the financial loss is the difference on the trade plus the difference of their price at time of trading out... lets say around 150k as an approximate (figures are purely estimates, not accurate but trying to provide an example).....

Grundy could lose that next week alone and you still have to then wait for him to turn the corner before his price stagnates and starts to become an asset again... he could bomb your entire season just by being stubborn and refusing to move him on to preserve a trade or two.

Not saying he won't end up as one of the top ruckman again come end of the season, but your team could be totally tanked and gone before he turns the corner.

So i can potentially go:

Smith to Newman
Oliver to Macrae

Smith to Newman/H.Andrews
Collins to Joyce/Wilkie

Or sit on my hands and let the gap widen between 1st place and myself.
Agree with pretty much everything here especially the Grundy part.
Oliver and Heeney will come good imo and still finish top 10 in their positions so I'm gonna keep the faith.
I'm also tempted to go Smith to Newman but am gonna wait another week for that. If Newman goes big again then I will make the trade.

Oliver to lloyd done.

P.S tell us again how Drew will be dropped for Wines.
Hindsight is a great thing isn't it.

But my apologies for having an opinion :)

I suggest that anyone who wants to trade out their premo players after round 1 to 100% do it. Then close SC turn off your PC/Laptop or whatever your using and find another game to play, because honestly you have no idea how to play the game. There is a reason you selected those players to begin with, to back step on them after just 1 game is beyond stupid.

Sshhhhhhh. Although I wish I traded hibberd and billings last year lol

Just got back from a weekend out of range, wtf happened? Danger C a massive burnman, Gawn an overpriced sub 90 scrub, "Probably will get dropped" Drew and Scott pumping out tonnes, "who the **** is parker" Parker pumping out an 87 on the bench next to big boy faulta...

Check the round 1 results and that's a horrendous week for tipsters

Have I found a worm hole into a parallel universe? Do I even know footy anymore?

Might trade Gibbons out for Constable this week, to ensure I’ll have two trades next week to rage trade my underperforming premos.

I'm think the same.

I didn't know how Constable would go so went with Gibbons VFL star and hype 1st game but who may sit forward for too long.

I'm a bit disappointed at the lack of scoring of David Mundy.
I original had the Hoff and moved to Mundy as he usually scores well.

A low score he got pipped by Brayshaw but had 6 clangers and 2 FAs.
Is Mundy rusty or do I wait?

Thinking to trade or maybe wait as he has Suns this week Saints the next before the WA Derby.

So apart from the obvious Balta > Drew trade my only other shittruck is Collins. The problem is that I have no cash and my downgrade options are Howe, McKay and Joyce (already have Duursma, Scrimshaw, Clark and Wilkie). Given that's the case, I think it's best I just hold him for now until another option presents itself unless he gets dropped this week?

And to top it all off it was the lowest scoring Round 1 on average since 1965.

There was one or two constants though, Marvel Stadium's surface is an absolute abortion and Essendon's marketing team sure know how to hype a steaming pile of horse excrement.

Ok so as most of you know Im a bit of a loose campaigner and an average SCer at best.
Now I have the cash to go Gibbons to Rocky in one easy trade but **** that mother ******* burn man rock lobster campaigner injury riddled ****** shoulders SP wannabe Shit heap wines coming back my anoos still burn ****en owes me 14 trades ****en burn man campaigner

Legs akimbo campaigner and take one for the team.
