Margin would have been over a hundred had we not had the next week to look towards. The game was over at half time and we played the second half accordingly.
And?

Just saying, dont go and point out that you arent the first time to lose by ten goals in a final. I bet you will be scarred massively from that. I almost class that performance worse than 119. When you slide next year we'll all laugh and point to your pathetic prelim performance as to why that occurred. Melbourne and mental scars. name a better duo.

LOL and what are you going to do about it?

Eagles lost a final by 67 points, then backed it up the next year with a premiership.
Dees lost a final (a prelim, no less!) by a similar margin.

Eagles didn't look too scarred this year though did they?

Yeah no doubt mate, given the shit I've seen this week I'm sure you're all getting ready to lay in the boots!

Can't let antyonE MCG DFLAT TRACK DERPYDERP!! HOT ALK ABOUT MY TEAM LIKE THAT NOW WE GET TO GIVE IT BACK!!!!

Too easy mate. I'm thinking West Coast Eagles and lives ruined by drug addiction, what do you think? Do I win a prize?

Judd played 134 games for WC and won 84 of them, 63%. Over the period he was at WC the club played 144 games and won 90, 63%.

In the 10 games Judd missed for WC in 6 years we won 6 and lost 4, 60%. Statistically insignificant. Myth busted.

His absence was most pronounced in 2007 when he missed 5 games and was hampered by a groin injury after Rd 9 by which time he had already polled 16 Brownlow votes in the first 8 games. Coinciding with Judd's absence/injury Daniel Kerr played only 17 games of a possible 24 and Ben Cousins played 7 after returning from rehab in Rd 16. There was a famous image of the coaches box in the 2007 SF of Cox, Cousins and Judd all watching on.

We were a basket case from 2008 once Judd left the club, but Cousins also left the club and Kerr played 11, 11 and 4 games over 2008-2010. Plus there were one or two other things going on at the club at the time... Judd sticking around would have softened the landing, but really we would've been like Carlton clinging to the 13/14 win season and thinking we were better than we were. Judd came, they got a bit better, he left, and they're shit again. WC have been in a relatively strong position since the 2008-2010 period. Carlton are no better than they were before Judd arrived.

Sorry the basket case comment was for Carlton pre Judd. Unsure what their record was like when he missed. Wc were strong then so wouldn’t have thought it would make too much of a difference Judd missing the odd game here or there.

Kennedy was huge in the finals. Not sure we win the QF or GF without him.

Once he blew off the cobwebs from 5 or 6 weeks out of footy in the QF he monstered Goldsack.

Very true, but he’s not alone in being key to the finals victories. Probably helps he played on Goldsack, though I like him isn’t really kpd - he got smashed in every game he played this year! Wc talls were very very good

Got to say at least this is good banter I don’t mind it carry on

LOL you're kidding right?

This is what "insecurity" looks like:

(lol you should have seen the posts that got cleaned up from the other thread... :$:$:$)

Bumping posts from post-game threads from AUGUST in NOVEMBER (six weeks after the finals ended)... now that what's I'd call "insecure".

I just want to make sure Forward Press and his gang don't miss any more months-old posts, will make sure I tag you in the next one I find too if you like?

"THEY BEEN TALKING ABOUTTT CRAP DURING SEASON FLAT TACK BULLY PRETENDERS ANNOT WIN AT THE MECGGGGG!!!"

Good one legends, you sure showed 'em!

The length of your replies and the capitalization and sarcasm you continue to include tells everyone you are insecure as shit. Stop embarrassing yourself, mate. We get it. You are trying to show everyone how indifferent you are. But in fact, it's coming off the exact opposite of that.

Its more about the timing that worked in our favour. Judd left just as our squad self destructed. Superman wouldn't have dragged us to the big dance during that era, just as Judd couldn't fix Carlton.

By trading in a young superstar when we did it meant we were able to rebuild from the ground up, and have a great full forward in his prime exactly when we needed him.

After leaving WC.
Judd is all class but he had to carry a significant load at Carlton, West Coast while we had some early pain from 2008 to 2010 knew that if they had a half decent midfield could get flag out of Josh Kennedy. You can build a side around a quality forward. Forwards that kick 50 + Goals a year dont grow on trees.

Midfielders of Judd's calibre don't grow on trees either. He had a huge impact from day 1 at WC and Carlton. Judd at his peak would walk into last year's GF and be the best player on the ground.

Prior to Judd arriving at WC we won 7 and 5 games over two seasons. In our 6 seasons with Judd we went 11-12-13-17-17-15. He obviously wasn't the only factor (Kerr, Cox, Fletcher, Glass, Wirrpanda didn't scream 10+ AAs between them in 2001) but he had an immediate impact. Judd's B&F record in 6 seasons was 3-2-1-2-1-6 and the one year he came 6th he would've finished 1st or 2nd pro rata (he hadn't missed 5 games and played half a season with a bung groin).

Prior to Judd arriving at Carlton they won 3-4-10-4-3-4 games over 6 seasons. They then went 10-13-11-14-11-11. Their biggest mistake other than letting Kennedy go instead of pick 1 was overrating their list. Everyone in football knew that Geelong and Collingwood were the best two teams in 2011 with Hawthorn just behind but not yet having all of the pieces. We came 4th to everyone's surprise and Carlton 5th, 3 wins back. We beat them in a semi but predictably lost to Collingwood and Geelong. Carlton thought they were close, everyone else thought they weren't. Everyone else was right.

As soon as Fevola departed it was always going to be hard for Carlton to kick enough goals to win a flag. Had Fevola of stayed healthy at Carlton we may be able to say Carlton won the Judd trade. But as it stands, West Coast won the trade easily.

In hindsight Carlton shouldn’t have traded Kennedy and should have traded pick 1 instead, but given the information that was available at the time, every single person would have done the trade.

The funny thing is Carlton already had Jacobs and Hampson on the list when they drafted Kruezer, and then the following year they traded in Warnock. And after all that at one stage Cameron Wood was the #1 ruck. Even if you assume Fev and Kennedy aren't there imagine Carlton with Jacobs leading the ruck and Cotchin, Judd, Murphy, Gibbs in the middle.

Meanwhile West Coast draft a better ruck with pick 2 in 2008, Kennedy kicks 550 goals, Jacobs leaves and becomes Adelaide's #1 ruck for a decade, Betts leaves and makes the AA team 3 years in a row, Waite leaves and hits career highs for games played and goals kicked in a season at age 32, Hampson leaves and gets engaged to Megan Gale, then Judd has a son that goes for West Coast.

In addition to Jacobs and Hampson, Carlton also had would-be premiership back-up ruckman on their list when they drafted Kreuzer - Shaun Grigg.

Thank you Captain Hindsight

We got a flag out of Judd and then we got a flag out of Kennedy. Judd was still a champion player in carlton, for sure, but yeah you'd be hard pressed to argue that we didn't come out ahead in the long term.

At the time, you woulda said Carlton. But hindsight is 20/20 and all that.
