I'm not trading in any more rookies until they've been named for a 3rd game. For all we know Balta comes back in a week or two and the kid you replaced him with is dropped before his first price rise.

I wanna wait. But been caught out too many times NOT trading and 2 must do trades pop up the next week, and I miss out and get stuck with spuds.
Last year for example I didn't turf Andrew Brayshaw and then 2 injuries happened. Think it was Venables and ZGL... Anyway I had to trade the injured players, missed getting L. Fogarty and 100k profit, got stuck with Brayshaw on the bench doing SFA while I fielded Holman and Kelly. Had to wait forever to get rid of the spud. Just one example.
I haven't got Parker yet, so he seems to be a good option for Balta in terms of JS at least.

Posted this on the Tigs board re Balta, thought I'd share it here, bearing in mind it's only my thoughts.

There's something weird going on here.

Why would Dimma say "He's the closest to Rance, athletically" Then drop him to the magoos? After Rance is out for the year.

He may not have a huge tank yet, but he's quick, has great closing speed. Hard as a cat's head. Is one of our best intercept marks. Has a huge boot. Can play as a defender.

The only answer I can come up with is that Rance is going to intensively school him on positioning and defensive skills while he's in the 2's for a week or 2.

Makes a bit of sense to me, as Rance needed that education early but didn't really get it cos there was no one to teach him.

Don't throw Balta to the wolves, educate and teach, who's better than a 5 x AA to do that job?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Balta back soon in Rances spot.

*edit..........Forgot to say that there's also a 3 x AA centre half back that can also contribute to intensive education

Next week would be the perfect time to do this, after your target has been named for a 3rd game. Just out of curiosity, would you still be keen to get Parker in if he pulls out a 30-40 this week?

There's enough experience in that Richmond defence to carry an inexperienced player or two while they come up to speed.

Yes of course it's better to wait till the rookie is on the bubble. But my point is it can bite u on the arse if u wait. Let's say a ruck goes down with an LTI. There's 1 trade. Then let's say Another rookie gets dropped, and a rookie u don't have scores 90+ and becomes a must have. There's 2 trades and I'm stuck with Balta and Burgess.
And yes if Parker only scored 40 but played OK I'd still want him as he has the best JS out of the fwd rookies besides Setterfield.

Or he plays shit or worse still gets injured, scores 40 and gets dropped or added to the LTI. As annoying as missing out on a player is, having a rookie stuck on your bench on 2 games all season or burning a second trade on them is even more annoying. I've had that happen to me a few times, last year I traded in Redman after 1 impressive game during the byes, he scored 73 in his 2nd game before getting injured. Sat on my Def bench for the remaining 12 rounds, couldn't even loophole him 90% of the time because the Dons played early nearly every week or trade him out because he was only worth 114k.

Good for some mild loopholing but causing trouble to have 3 non-playing rookies by round 2. Not sure where Sparrow or Lockhart came from but they have thrown a spanner into the works!
