Shout out to Wilkie and Battle, two guys who together are on 9 games between them and held up like a fortress. Marshall who was a pillar on 13 games and Parks on 2. Fair effort to be massive when it counted.
Awesome by the new boys. Really starting to turn the corner and believe now.

Mod view: Good performance we stuck it out and got the four points off of the back of four quarters.

Supporter view: YOU ****IN' BEAUTYYYY!!!!!!
Now go and get more drunk.

I never thought I would ever say this, but well done Richo and your assistants. Great selections and well coached throughout the game.

What a difference more midfield rotations make! It allowed Stuv to play forward line in the last which made Saad accountable. Great move Richo because Saad's run was killing us in the 3rd.

Gresham brilliant in the centre.
Steele brilliant and still has room for improvement.
Marshall didnt win the hitouts but we are a much better team with him playing.
Acres run out of legs but great early.
Ross really good solid game.
Sinclair not huge numbers but did well.
Newnes is Mr Reliable just gives and gives.

Our backline Savage, Brown, Wilkie, McKenzie, Battle and Geary kept Essendon out brilliantly all game particularly in the 3rd.

Our forward structure is so much better when Bruce remains forward.
Our small forwards did well as did Membrey.

Great win Sainters and again well done Richo, Ratten, Lade & Playfaiir.

great game, glad the bombers turned up after the first quarter, it was red hot and we'll be better for it.

notable mentions:

Marshall 8 tackles, 13 contested possies
Lonie was brilliant
Bruce has started 2019 with a bang, I take back everything I said. He looks bigger too which I think will help with the wrestles
Parker breaking McGrath's ribs
Great midfield spread (last year it was the same four in the square every bounce, clear difference this year)
Billings' midfield move has started very well

Changes for next week,

outs - Kent, Dunstan
Ins - Joyce, Clark

BATTLE FORWARD, HE IS A FORWARD - he might become a great backman, but right now we need him up forward. He takes Kent's spot, Kent goes to sandy to find some touch, Joyce takes Battle's spot.
Clark into the middle for Dunstan, or someone, I don't care. Had 9 tackles to 3QT in tough conditions, don't know what he ended with but would have cracked double digits, and he got his hands on it. Wouldn't have been many easy touches out at TBB Oval today...

Acres is just one of those guys that luck falls his way. If a ball could bounce two ways it's always positive when he touches it.

I actually thought the Bombers injected some desperation into their game in the second half but the Saints were good enough to ice their comeback.

I cannot believe it!
I openly doubted us and thought we'd play Essendon into form, we gave it out best shot in the 3QTR but held strong in the last with structures. I was wrong!

Some huge performances- Marshall, Savage, Lonie, Billings and Pointy arm Parker.

Brown was rusty and I'm not sold on Kent. Maybe time for Young!

Won with defensive structures.

Never allowed them to get going apart from centre clearances. Defended the ground beautifully and kept our structure around the ground very well.

I feel like we have somewhat realised we won’t win games with free flowing football but battle out wins with games of attrition, which I’m fine with.

My love for Parker grows every time I see him.

Do we play these mugs again later this season? I hope so, they should be totally demoralised by then.

Then again, that's what the Dees thought about us last year. Stay focused Saints!

Well played lads. It was a close game but it looks like our pressure game is back.

We missed some easy goals otherwise it would have been easy win.

Some of the players played really well especially when you got Sinclair with 9 tackles, Marshall our ruckman with 8 and steele our tackling machine comes third.

Lonie played well, Parker looks exciting, Gresham is the real difference.

Improvement - Ross has not hit the ground, our goal kicking, get someone else in place of McKenzie.

Overall a good result
