Ya know Cripps made as many mistakes as Murphy, he just handballs more so it doesn't look as bad.

There must have 4 or 5 times Cripps kicked long straight to a Port Player.

While it wasn't helped by losing CC, the team needs to learn to kick to the forwards advantage when going long.

What I saw tonight was a lot of effort and a lot of positives. Last year we would have collapsed and lost by 10 goals. In another 12 months we will win these games. No doubt

His opponent totally dominated the game. Phillips gets absolutely monstered where it counts, the occasional contribution around the ground shouldn't disguise that fact.

He's our dedicated "outside skill" guy. Shouldnt turn it over so much, they werent really pressured either if i remember correctly.

Smashed in the midfield. They had 25 more clearances and a stack more inside 50s

Weitering was immense, such a beast back there and Jones and to a lesser extent Plowman were also good.

McKay was a great target but wish we could have left him in 50 more often.

Polson was decent and Walsh, Dow, Setters and Samo all played decent-good

Fasolo was a ghost, offered nothing

Fasolo should go back to the VFL. When he kicks a few scores, bring him back. Letting him fester in the seniors sends the wrong message to the kids who are busting a gut. Games on merit. Same applies to Walsh. If he struggles let him find some form in the VFL. It sets a standard.

Some cracks need papering over. Can't keep all of Poulson, Fasolo, Gibbons, Garlett and sub par Murphy, Curnow and Simmo in the same team. Plus not sold on Phillips as sole ruck with Harry as backup. We are at our most dangerous when H is roaming the forward line.

Maybe because as a senior player who has been playing a decade, his disposal efficieny and decision making is disgraceful.
He should be the one we can turn to whilst the young guys make their mistakes while developing, but instead he contributed to the turnovers just as much as anybody

Start with the negative - Murphy 26 disposals but 53 SuperCoach points. That’s an awful conversion. Killed our momentum a couple of times.

Fasolo - not convinced at all. VFL for him to be replaced by JSOS who offers far more.

Garlett is getting better in the role but also has costly brain fades.

Ed - he looks lost at the moment. Either play him in the centre or play Kennedy instead.

Happy with everyone else and the effort for three quarters. Crippa is a monster. SPS was magnificent. Dow and Walsh were brilliant in the third. Weiters is shouldering a heavy burden down back with aplomb. Jones back to his 2017 form. Newman a good pick up. Polson was very good. Gibbo not far off it. The GOV is going to be huge for us.

I’m upset at the loss. I hate that we’re so close but yet so far. But if you can’t see the vast improvement from last year you’re... well not very good at watching football.

Both weeks within 2 goals at 3qtr time..we seem to lose concentration. You need leadership and murphy has let us down in this area tonight. I can’t pinpoint the exact time it happened but shitty disposal and bad decision making has creeped into his game the last couple of years.
We’re playing in the big time and the pressure goes up so you can’t have a fasolo hanging out the back waiting for a cheapie and not applying pressure. You can’t have a Garlett who’s a fish out of water in defence. That’s a hole at each end of the ground.
You can’t have Cripps as the only inside mid getting the pill.
I think we can win next week....we have to

We still look too slow....the only really quick players we have are Fisher, cunningham, sps and polson and gibbons...and they looked slow today...is it just me lol....agreed Garlett is a forward and is lost in the backline.....Weiters is an absolute gun, and has his confidence back......sps is gonna be a gun...still havnt found the player to chop out Cripps....the only way to attract players like that is to string wins together, hopeing this comes soon...

I hate playing an inform Port at the start of the season.

Had our chances to win this, but disposal was an issue.......and from more than just Murphy.

Weiters was my best for us today and thought Plow was good.....should get some love this week.

Phillips was always going to struggle against two quality rucks Ryder and Lycett plus the odd cameo from Westhoff.

While I liked how Setters put the clamps on Rockliff, I hope we don't turn him into a tagger. Playing the role effectively killed his output.

Loved watching kids like Walsh, Rozee, Butters and Duursma strut their stuff after following them through the U18s and Nationals.

If we can bring that intensity for 4 quarters next week then we're every chance against the Swans.

Whatever we get out of setterfield this year is a bonus. 20 games playing different roles would be awesome.
