Non Lions Discussion 2019

Some quality posting going on here this evening, 10 out of 10 would forum again.

On a serious note, Melbourne seem to play a massively mindset-heavy game, similar to the bulldogs in 2016 - built on pressure and ferocity at the ball. I dont really think those sorts of sides will generally have sustainable success. If the group is off by 10-20% they fall apart completely.

Did Steven May just have two guys by the neck at the same time? Always classy.

Dees blow one opportunity after another and then the first time the Cats go inside 50 for the quarter they get a free in front and goal,

Isn't always the way
3 inside 50s 3 goals to the cats.

Phew West Coast have been good this quarter. Giants helping by kicking it straight to McGovern and Barass - makes me more appreciative of our tactics last week to go with a smaller forward line and not let the Eagles defence intercept mark.

I think this start from Essendon and Melbourne goes to show how difficult it is to become a premier side. They have both seemingly done a fantastic job building quality lists, but something is just not quite right culture/ coaching wise. Both teams seem to play best coming from a long way back with nothing to lose. Now they are both expected to challenge they are struggling to put it together. In fact they are doing worse than that!

Nice moment for Jordan Clark but deplorable stuff from the Dees

Giants doing it tough against the Weagles,

Some typically home town Eagles friendly umpiring snuffing out the Giants third quarter comeback.

Push in the back rule being strictly applied......one way:rolleyes:

I don't think the umpiring is the main issue, the Giants keep wasting it inside 50. Should have had the lead in the first half if they didn't keep kicking it to McGovern.

Steven May giving good value to Melbourne so far, a suspension and an injury from two rounds.

Oscar Allen pick 21 ?

He looks good partially because of the Eagles system. Hickey looked like useless trash before he got to the Eagles. Now he looks like a decent tap ruckmen with all those midfield beasts. McStay would look like Hawkins if he had Yeo, Redden and Shuey handing him pies right out in front.

Did you really have to mention Yeo and Redden ?

He'd have to learn to run some leading patterns in the forward 50 first.

Left GC for a chance at premiership glory in the big smoke.

Nafan says hi.

To be fair, there was zero chance of a flag for him if he stayed at the Suns. Don't begrudge May or Lynch. Flags are hard to win tho. Who do you think is more likely to snag one, May or Lynch? (if they stay with their current teams).

Do you think the new rules may be having a negative effect on Melbourne's inside heavy game style? A couple of times the Melbourne players were pinged for being out of place. Must be frustrating them
