Just throwing one out there but, after your comment I am excited to see what Johnathon Marsh will bring.
From all reports he is a strong mark, has great speed and could play on ball.
At 194 cm could pose another dimension to the on ballers, half forwards and importantly, backs with run and carry.
Thoughts?
Think he will play predominantly back.

Some quick thoughts.
Just proud of this group and the club. It's forgotten how young and inexperienced this group is. Should have finished it early but went again and put the game to bed.

Structure is great and still being learnt. I still think we miss one more tall fwd. Bruce even admitted it on ch 7. I think we can fix it short term with longer/Pearce coming in and Marshall playing both ruck and fwd.

Our mids still gave to gel, we are being ducked to certain areas but this will come in time. Love the seb/Steele double. Dunstan was massive in the last. Gresham is running noth ways now and billings has found his spot on the wing. The new fwds have allowed us to do this.

Newness is back in his role as the defensive wing. Him and Sinclair are so important. One day Sinclair will turn his 12 touches to 25 and will be a very good player.

Defence is undermanned but working so hard. The captain was better but long term is under pressure.

I think the coaches need some credit, created a system that is being brought into. Rattan huge imo. Lade very good too.

Win one of the next two and we are right in this season as we roll a couple more players into this team. We are in a nice spot as we are winning but also developing Clark and coffield as mids for the long term. Compare that to the swans, who are losing and not developing Henry and mills as mids..... I will leave that there....

Go you good things!

For your viewing pleasure.

Would prefer to see some aggression directed at him with the ball in play. It was like we were afraid to tackle him.

We got lucky that they turned it over.

I absolutely love Matty Parker, and everything he brings to the team. Great story, great passion, absolutely raw but undeniable talent, and it's clear that he lifts everyone around him. He also seems to have the ability to step up in big moments, and when he does he brings everyone up with him. Also love the relationship that he and Winmar seem to be developing, must be great for both of them. Hope he plays 200 games for the club and becomes more than just a cult hero, because you can see how in his eyes and in his ferocity how much it means to him.

Couple of thoughts

We are getting a lot of our 'potential' players up to 23 and 24 y.o. Players Who were pushed off the ball previously are now laying tackles, busting through tacklers and generally a much more physical and strong team.

Not many boys. The new recruits are mature aged. Wilkie, Parker and Kent are all mature bodied footballer's even wiry Parker is slight but all muscle and hits hard. Lonie now shows his ability with some strength. His tackle on Hurley shows his strength.

Wife watched a bit of the game, mainly the second qtr and while she is only a casual football watcher made the remark our ball movement and skills reminded her of the 2016 Bulldogs when they were on. Take that FWIW. Just an observation from a neutral.

Time for a small gripe, even though I’m very happy with the effort & the win, we need to be smarter. With 1.22 left in the 2nd quarter, Savage has a kick from a mark about 80m from goal.... WE NEED TO HONOUR THE LEADING FORWARDS, NOT JUST DUMP IT TO THE TOP OF THE SQUARE. This was such a waste! Look at the space Acres was leading in to. FMD, there’s a hole about 30m in diameter in front of him. Be smarter. Would have been another goal.

Tidy up the inside 50s. Be smarter, honour leads

One thing I noticed yesterday was that Steele looked bigger than Stringer and Acres looked bigger than Hurley and Francis. They are some big lads! Definitely bigger than the measurements on the website suggests.
Billings is getting right into the thick of it and Gresh is tough as nails. They all look really fit and capable of running games out now.
We don't need to rely on Stuv carrying the team or Ross getting all the possessions anymore. Exciting times ahead.

Yes plenty to work on. Which fills me with confidence that this group can do much better than yesterday.

And this should be a big warning to the Injectors. We went at under 100% and still controlled the game.

So next Friday night....

Melb vs methendon. Both 0-2.

Melb with all the inside mids and nobody to feed it out to

Meth with everyone skirting around trying to seagull a chip but nobody brave enough to get the pill

Could be a nil all draw :moustache:
No Kent, no Demons.

It's good to finally feel some positive momentum for a change. Now as a long term Saints fan I know how NOT to get ahead of myself...but it does feel good.

And I am really loving the work of PARKER. He is hard, he is tough, he can take some chances, he is not intimidated...and he looks like a mean hungry dog! Love it!!

I tipped the Saints win, but it happened very differently than I imagined. I thought Essendon would come flying out of the traps, after their first game mauling, but, in fact, they were dreadful first quarter and little better in the second. The game shouldn't have been so nervy in the fourth; the kicking accuracy wasn't good enough and Saints should have been out of sight.

2-0 is a great start.

Thought Kent contributed well last week. Two assists and a clutch goal and while I didnt see it, someone said he had a role on Harbrow who did nothing.

Thought he added a lot yesterday and has been a great addition.

Is not unfit, has not replaced Mav and is a very good addition.

He didn't seem to be on anyone. He was standing still a lot and a few times just pulled up instead of chasing. This week he was much better but against GC he was pretty crap.

Normally it takes my mob to derail Essendon's season, but your lads jumped in early this year :D

Congrats and best wishes for the rest of the season (except against my Blues :) )

Really gutted for Dylan Roberton, I really hope to see him back plating footy in 2020.

Geary is a gem, probably the most underrated player in the league, I now consider him a champion of the game.

Cheers. Loved the tweet from the Carlton CS breaking out in the Saints theme song with the Port fans nearby joining in, all in unity for the loathing of the injectors [emoji3]

It's going to be a thrilling race between Carlton and Essendon for the wooden spoon, but could Melbourne make a bid too? :p
