Some stats from the GC v Freo game at halftime.
GC up by three points.
Two Freo players had AF points over 50: Fyfe and Hill both in the high 60’s.
Seven GC players had AF points over 50.
Wider spread of good performances at GC for that half.
There’s a good indicator to focus on.

Gold Coast channelling their inner St.Kilda. What a waste.
7.19. But a win!

Franks our rd 1 win.

GC aren't as bad as some would like to think. They're playing with heart

Lyon has to be on thin ice after that game.

Watch as he returns to type and backs in his ho hum role players and defensive maul.

We are every chance to beat the Dockers next week! The belief the boys are playing with right now has me believing in them that’s for sure!

Nothing Freo showed me today says we can’t head over there and knock them off after they travel cross country the week before!

And at full time:
GC win.
Sixteen players had less than 60 AF points.
Four GC, TWELVE Freo.

More than half the Freo team.

Lesson: team effort will beat Freo, irrespective of Fyfe.

Got a quality player in Ben Long waiting to get back in the team for Kent, Lonie or Parker. All the small forwards playing well puts pressure on. Great to have that depth.

Don’t forget Robbie Young! Lighting it up with Sandy.

St Kilda and proud.

The next 2 games are very winnable , Fremantle and Hawthorn as long as we attack the ball and keep pressure on the opposition
Make that 3. We beat Melbourne at the MCG last year. No reason why we cant do it again.
I would be disappointed if we came away with zero wins in this period.
We just need to keep the pressure and we are a chance to upset some teams.

With West Coast winning so comfortably all the media heat will be on the dockers.
I expect a tough slog, if we play like we have been though I also expect us to run them off their feet and force errors from our constant attack on the ball.
Saints in a close one - less than 3 goals.

....and then we smash the Hawks and reign supreme on top of the ladder!!!

Reading a few posts, I think some are really overeating Freo. They'll be tough at home no doubt but they aren't exactly unbeatable.

GC should be beating them right now if not for some poor goal kicking.

If we play like we did in the first half against this week we are a huge show.

They're not unbeatable no, no side is after 2 rounds as there's a lot of room for improvement and things to exploit. However Freo still go in favourites as we are traveling and their scoring potential is still slightly better, whilst we are playing spurts of better footy for less reward at present.

That being said, I agree, we show up with the no prisoners first quarter with better front end and Freo run the risk of folding a bit, they will allow it to happen, they will panic. This is however the acid test of if we are the running team, if we are fit, if we can play a complete game as the ground allows us to run, carry and spread. Money where their mouth is in a way.

Did not see that coming. GC are a lot better than everyone thought. Makes our win look even better.

Freo now between a rock and a hard place. Have to fly back 5 hours to Perth. They now need a win against us but then have WCE after that. A derby win for them is 100x more important than the game against us.

WCE would be licking their lips right now.

Freo playing a very top heavy forward line and GC exploited it with a lot of run all over the ground. It’s a great opportunity for guys like Sinclair, DMac, Newnes Geary to use their strengths and really put in the serious kms.

Also think Marshall can exploit Darcy around the ground and everywhere but the ruck.

If Steele can minimise Fyfe’s impact then I tip a win. But if we lose the midfield battle then that massive forward line will start to look unstoppable.
