Parkers hit on the weekend was similar to Steeles a few weeks ago when we played north. Correct me if I am wrong but was that is a shoulder charge? Which were banded in the nrl.

I can't remember what Steele did a few weeks ago, but what Parker did has always been part of the game. The fault lies with the guy who passed it to him. They don't call them hospital passes for nothing.

Marshall is a still very skinny up close. I think someone said players like Sean Darcy are 120 kgs. Rowan would be lucky to be 90.

He is just about 100KG. That's big enough. Darcy is overweight for an AFL player. Marshall just needs to get on his bike. He doesn't need to get bigger. Players are losing weight. Gawn lost 10KG last year. He can get stronger though which will naturally happen.

The R in NRL stands for "Rugby". We have an F in our sport because it's "Football". They're actually different sports!
(Don't take this as being too patronising...just repeating a dialogue I have over and again here in Japan. "Yeah, nah we don't play Rugby at all - I don't even know the rules of rugby. Yeah, I know the ball is a similar shape, but it's a different sport. Let me draw you a map.")

Its like explaining the difference between League and Union to a Victorian

People have tried. That's when my eyes glaze over and I start thinking about the saints chances this year. Wait a minute, union...that's the Campese one right?

Edit: Nobody click "Like" on this post. I've got a perfect 3000 likes for 1000 posts. Not bragging, likes aren't that big a deal - it's just such a beautiful match. Think I might have to call it quits.

VDS you bastard.

I would have traded Bruce for a 1st rounder last year particularly with us using pick 4 on another KF, kudos to him though as he has been very good so far this year.

I still think he's probably overrated by saints fans, reckon he's a decent 40 odd goal forward, ala Jay Schulz.

Worth noting his opponent took 14 marks and 9 rebound 50's to his 3 Marks.

Great to see him back to form and I am more than happy be proven wrong on this one. :thumbsu: He's much more valuable pushing up towards 20 possies, than his regular 10 - 11.
We continuously kept bombing it. Hurley and Francis had a field day, Bruce or Membrey cant control the kicks they receive.

I get what you are saying. But seeing as we did just get Billy Slater in as a coach. It would make sense that he has taught them a few techniques from rugby. It is a different bump from what we are used to seeing in the aFl. Which is more traditionally a side on bump instead of facing your opponent front on and barging your shoulder into them. It has flattened both players, so i am not complaning!

So are the commentators like Purple and Wallace who said recruiting Billy Slater was a publicity stunt going to revisit their critisism?

Lol.

Watch Slater up close with one of the games best tacklers, Aaron Hamill. First he explained the routine and then took the players through his revised tackling drill, using his RL skills adapted to AFL.

His body positioning and centre of gravity when about to tackle is incredible to watch.

And it is not just tackling. The body positioning is used to off balance the player with the ball with pushes etc.

Really impressive. So impressive we have won the tackling count in all 4 games so far.

Not bad for a publicity stunt.
Lonie was always a goer.
Always applying pressure but his tackles would be brushed off.
Billy Slater comes to town and now Lonie is suplexing fullbacks.

Very good George , the more I watch it , think we are strong chance this week too if we play to that
standard but kick straight .
Two awesome clips there George...thanks a heap for posting.

I could watch them till the cows come home !!!!!

I'm happy that we have won our first two games, but let's not get carried away. We need more goals from the half forwards and midfield on a consistent basis, and better stoppage work if we want to get up a few rungs on the ladder.
Yep and if the rationale about Hurley taking 14 marks is right then we haven't changed at all in regards to bombing the ball in long to our forwards... good sides will pick this apart every single week.

I wonder how much we can attribute Lonie's tackle on Hurley to Slater?

True. Better stat would be intercept marks. Don’t know where you can source that from.

The diff between league and union is really easy....league is shite
So what’s the difference?

Well what you do is imagine a pack of dogs together when they are in a scrum. Now imagine that pack of dogs are on heat and they stay in the pack sniffing bums for ages, well thats called a Union.:poo: Now league still go down for the sniff, but for not as long. :eek:So there is your education on opposing sports, quite simple really. :D:D

technically, in league they sniff each others butts 5 times then kick the ball
