I know Paton and Joyce aren’t playing but both travelling. Strangely Joyce playing a half tomorrow. No idea who is in but I gather it’s Clark or long. Most likely Clark because if he wasn’t playing I think they would rest him. Long needs practice

Don't reckon Clark or Long have really put their hands up. I think Paton has a lot of upside, and I would give him a run on the forward line. Interchange: Acres, Paton, Wilkie, Joyce.

Stuv has been playing mainly fwd..

So I think Long will come in, though I'd like to see Hunter for someone I'm not sure it's like for like here
He's been starting forward but he's spent a fair bit of time in the middle. Especially round 1 when we were under the pump.

We need another midfield options so I'd be surprised if Clark didn't play.

Longer isn't terrible, he's just not great.

Same can be said for hickey.

BTW it's far too early to say anything at all definitive about Roma.

For instance, Billy has at times played games as good as mashall did on the weekend- and he's (supposedly) no good.

Kosi looked better than roo after they'd each played a year. Etc etc.

Frankly he's terrible for mine.. But accept your opinion may differ.

I'd agree with all of that. But we've recruited and selected for the now to pump up the figures this year. I'm not saying that it's wrong, just that it's happened.
The question posed was, would things be different if our Coach's outlook was 3 seasons, rather than 1? I say maybe..
Ok let’s play that game. What do you think would be different. I’ve got nothing myself

I see your point, but not sure I agree.
I think we recruited the way we did this past season ie mature agers, because we have a lot of youth, most of whom just haven’t even had a chance to play yet.

With Clark, Coffield, Paton, Clavarino, Langlands, Phillips etc not to mention Winx and Bytel, we really needed some more mature bodies. As I mentioned we can develop kids and still play to win.

I’m not sure we recruited Parker etc only for the here and now, but because of how many young guys we already have, with the added bonus of them making an immediate impact.

We spent our first two draft picks on guys that we knew would spend most of the year on the sidelines. I don't think that is recruiting for the now.

Parker is mature aged but hes come from playing ammos 2 years ago and just a handful of WAFL games. Wilkie still very young.

As far as selection. I think we had 5 guys in our round one with under 10 games experience. We've still gotta be looking to win games but that seems like a good balance to me.

Just came from the freo board, they really think StCicatriz is a bloody nutter 🤣🤣🤣
tend to agree actually

just had a good read and wow. they're so quick to take things so damn seriously. i mean it's not like i went over there and posted it. they actively sought out something to be outraged with! all over an attempt to take this piss on here.

having said that i've lost track with the amount of posters they've labelled all kinds of things, including their own. someone says anything remotely negative about their club and they're swinging at it.

its 2019 and they're still throwing mental health around as a way to insult people. pathetic really, but predictable. you'd think given the issues in broader society and the good work being done on here to de-stigmatise it, they wouldn't be so quick to throw it around as an insult.

"oh look that guy just said something i don't like, he must be mentally ill"

I reckon on current form the club reckon he's a goal a game small forward
Well my mates son only got a game at sandy tomorrow because Paton is travelling. He is a back so he replaced a back. I will trust the kid that was told that.

Paton plays all over the ground for Sandy from what I've seen, including both back and forward. Just checked his highlights again, and that seemed to be the case.
Maybe your son's friend is replacing a backman who has to play around the ground because Paton isn't there. Or maybe Paton is playing as a backman this year (I haven't watched any games from this season yet).
I don't think I'd say "Paton is a back" definitively on what I've seen (but again, have seen nothing this year).

if we win without our best mid in Stuv, what does that say!!! genuine opportunity!
I reckon our young crew are going to give this a red hot crack. Spirit has risen, and an all out effort is all we can ask irrespective of the result. I actually think the group is quite galvanised. Go Saints!!

Can only go on what my mate said. And it was Aaron Hamill who told his son. I have no idea but I will trust my mate. The seconds this year are playing exactly like the seniors. Previously if a saints player went out the next best sandy player came in. Now the next best sandy player comes in if they play in the position of the saints player who is travelling

could be a defining moment for the list, where we realise we have better mids than people realise, where we have now transitioned to the younger players have

No doubt our new coaches have injected lots of energy and confidence to the group. I'm not there, and I don't know. But having Billy Slater in there is genius. Even part time. I reckon the vibe that guy gives off is so positive. Absolute winner and a legend of the game....albeit a different one. Am sure our guys look at him and follow his absolute winning focus. And confidence. Must rub off.
