I'm with you on that, happy to give ratten a go. Imo, bolts has a better list than ratten had, yet we cant seem to finish above the bottom 4.
Ratten had a fit Kruezer, Gibbs, Murphy, Judd, Fevola, Betts, Garlett, Walker, Yarran ... This list is not at that level yet.

... It will eventually be better though, once we get some years into our young guys.

This list is far superior to the list Ratten worked with. The top end was really good but after the 10th player the next 30 was attrocious.

Bolton is a VFL level coach even blind Freddy can see it why do you think Robert Walls is there to "help"

Now more than ever is where we need to be patient and the club needs to hold its nerve. Only have to look at examples like cats (Thompson), tigers (Hardwick), and pies (Buckley) persisting with their senior coaches. We've reached a point where our nucleus is there and just learning to play with each other, and coach has developed with the players.
It also seems to me these days that clubs don't necessarily show a linear rate of improvement, and it's more that they really announce themselves when they are ready e.g. Tigers and Pies
I am hoping that this pattern applies to us. So I wont be terribly disappointed if we only win a few more games than we did last year, if they slowly build on what they have shown already, I will be satisfied. Wins will come.
Ratten deserved patience!!

He's had 4 years to shape the way he wants his team to move the ball. Can anyone see a coherent system?

When are we going to wake up and start asking the questions that need to be asked? Our coach is not up to it

In a general sense I don't have a major problem with the system. I do however, have a major problem with basic skill levels and horrible disposal from a lot of players on this list.

Blind Freddy can also see that Bolton is working with a bunch of young players in their 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.

Reality is, the effort remains very strong, but we cannot move the ball effectively as we continue to not be able to kick competitive scores and yet we also cant stop the opposition scoring heavily. We are on the right track but will be stuggiling to win more than 3 games and I wouldn't be at all confident we will beat GC.

Our defensive structure remains poor, ball movement poor and the side is far to slow.

Those teams had also showed alot more. Tigers had won 15 games a few times, Cats had played finals as had pies.

bolton was selected to do the pig work, the selection had that feel from the start . what the WHOLE CLUB REBUILD as were doing had to be done and to blink now would be soft .. there whole club process is sound !!!

I do think Bolton is in some trouble this season if things don't turn around soon. I do have issues with team selection at this point and 32 losses from your last 35 games is a massive weight around his neck to drag around.

Forgetting the excuses, what about Bolton indicates that he can lead a team to a premiership as senior coach?

Blind Freddy can see it but some of our blind posters can't.

3 early misses of simple shots on goal by Dow & McKay prevented us gaining some early momentum. Fisher's dinky little kicks, resulting in turnovers cost us dearly. These type of things are coach killers.

Nothing to do with the coach.
We don’t have the depth to cover the injuries and the young talent are still very skinny and raw. Lots of upside but lots of things to fix. We need to recruit a gun defender who can set up attacks and distribute skilfully.
We have plenty of those that try hard and need to convert some of those high level AFL standard achievers.

im not saying hes a lock brissy .. job accountability at our club has been poor in previous times . i am more confident now than ever we have got good people in the door that can make sound decisions .. the base is there off field on field will follow suit ie brisbane

Potatoes and Tomatoes all clubs have a plethora of 1st-4th year players in starting 22

We are no special snowflake.
Ok, the point is though, we don’t have the 24-27 seasoned bodies that other clubs do and that Ratten had. You said we have a better list than Ratten, I’m saying no we dont yet because we don’t have those seasoned bodies.

We're going back to the injuries excuse now are we?
