First, no-one’s referred to the players as peahearts or made that suggestion.
Secondly, I certainly haven’t written the year off, but just referred to various issues, as have many others, that we’re facing right now. That’s what this forum is all about. But note that while you criticise others for doing that, your response now is - “I’m not a genius (you’re right on that point) so how do I know what’s going to happen”.

Thirdly, there are pea hearts and pea brains. Both small parts of a body, one high up than the other. I think I know where your pea is.

You make about as much sense as an Iceberg in the Sahara?
Absolutely ground breaking material you bring to the subject!
l may have a pea brain, but l got it all over you Mate in the intellect stakes no doubt about that!

Everyone in the footy world will be thinking the Handbaggers will win easily.

ANYBODY who thinks that has not watched a Geelong v Hawthorn game for about 12 years...

Don Scott wasn't wrong when he called our supporters spoiled brats, we're 2-2 and could be easily 4-0, we finished last year in the top 4 for the 7th time in 8 years, we have a 20 year old in AA form, 3 AA forwards entering the peak of their careers, we stole the best wing in the competition for peanuts yet people are still melting bloody hell.

People are melting because Mitchell (the best player in the comp) broke his leg. Then we lost Burgers and Shiels, two pillars of our recent premierships for 3 -4 weeks. Our full back and captain go down in the one game on top of O'Meara missing. Out chance to capitalise on a favourable early draw looks missed.

Wingard has had no pre-season. We have been in the news for umpiring bs. Its a pretty shit opening to the season really. FWIW I thought we had a shot this year but now its going to be tough. What on earth has being spoilt got to do with lamenting the bloody obvious.

FWIW worth people have been all over the positives as well Scrimshaw Scully etc.

I feel for the players, club, coaches and hope the rest of the year does not slip away but will still back them in to give their all every week as they have for the last 10 years, consistently. Respect.

What bet have you made with a cats supporter this week.
You know the drill, "Chris Scott is a coaching god" type of thing on your signature or like.
None this week mate, nor would I be keen on making one with our likely outs. :'(

This is all understandable. But when you see the melts (mainly on the fbook groups) where people are literally having temper tantrums over the players "not trying" and wanting Clarko sacked, then it beggars belief.

Don't follow the facebook feedback. If what you have posted (bolded) is true that does beggar belief. One of the things I admire Clarko for the most, is his amazing ability to keep getting the side up, week after week. The players as well, performing like this are shown, to have amazing character. They never give up and that is why real footy followers of other clubs have such a begrudging respect for our club.

The Cats supporter after the North game posted in the autopsy thread that we just never lay down. He was right.

My nephew texted me after the Saints game. He is 28. He and his father have supported the Saints their whole lives. He was over the moon about the Saints win.

He did not care that we were reamed by ump at a crucial time, lost our captain and fullback or had O'Meara, Mitchel, Burgers etc on the sidelines. The Saints had beaten the Hawks well, finally!.

His exact txt 'Let me have a bit of a winning feeling for a change u have had success since I was born don't be greedy haha'.

Hawks fans are accustomed to success, true. Anyone saying that Clarko should be sacked or that the players are not trying need to follow a different sport because they have no clue about this one or about how we play the game.

I know. When I eventually go and see the heart surgeon, he will look at me and say,"You are fit, healthy and young but there is one part of your ticker that looks stuffed!"

I will tell him it must the the bit that gave me grief during the Hawks v Geelong rivalry from about 1987 to 2019+.

Same thing as I've said about Rioli and Buddy previously... Stick Wingard in the forward 50 all game. Not "play him forward all game", literally tell him not to leave the forward 50 until the quarter ends.

If they leave him unmanned then it's practically a certain goal with any long bomb towards goal from the back half as it will only be fresh air and maybe some seagulls or pigeons between him and goal.

If they put a man on him (as I suspect they would) then we don't suffer a numbers disadvantage around the ball in the back half and I'd still back him to win the majority of those 1-on-1 contests.

I've never heard a decent reason why this strategy wouldn't work, or at least why it's better than our current strategy of not having anyone up forward in the event of us winning a turnover in our back half. Shits me to see us constantly win turnovers at half back with the majority of the opposition behind us, but our players then have to stop and kick diagonally backwards to hold it up while our forwards use all their energy to run forward as options with their opposition right by their side.

Scrimshaw is first in the AFL in contested possessions and contested marks among the half back flankers. When he came to the club he really was an “unknown”. No one knew what to expect. He’s getting better with each game. The impressive thing is that he isn’t afraid to throw himself at a contested situation and take those intercept marks.

I'd be stoked if he stays HBF and continues to play to this level, but this is exactly why I see him graduating to the midfield and being a star there.

Fantastic ground ball player too!

I’d rather see Scrimshaw and Sicily as the two half back flankers for the next decade. I don’t think he has the ability to ever be a midfielder.

The facebook groups really make me ill sometimes. There are a lot of positive people, which is great. But then you get people absolutely firing up over stupid crap like Connor Nash, Clarko being useless etc etc. Wonder how many of those supporters were around when we were winning 4-5 games a year in 04 and 05. Even saw this from an admin today breaching the subject. Terrible stuff, only going to be worse if we lose to the Cats (which let's be honest, is a lot more respectable than losing to St Kilda anyway)
