I think that marshall dropped partly for duty of care as he was getting a number of hits. This a work place and welfare for young kids is v important.
Able to attract players from other clubs
Informing members by regular newsletters and members meeting

Time to go

In more ways than one (see above bold type).

OK come clean ... you're a retired kindergarten teacher, correct?

lol … flags for solidarity … lol

Winning premierships really pale into insignificance in comparison to this stuff.

I dont know where to start. As i have said before and its no less now, supporting Port is like being in shit or abusive relationship. I love Port with all my heart, they keep shitting on me, yet i keep going back for more.

I grew up supporting Port and remember my old man taking me to Alberton when i was a little tacker (from about 1980).
We were tough, uncompromising, feared. The creed was real. Losers were shipped out quick (players or administrators). We were the best. You were either one of us or you despised us (through jealousy)

When our backs were against the wall we would inevitably come out on top because of who we were and what we stood for.

The club is a shadow of its former self. Port by name but not by nature anymore

- Co Captaincy. I dont need to say much more than whats been said. It shit on one of our most treasured traditions and the current administration dont give a shit that we members dont want it.

- Prison Bar Guernsey. I get that we had to compromise early on so we could enter the AFL but since then we have been toothless taking on the AFL (and Eddie) to bring back the bars. The prison bar guernsey is Port. Everything else is a poor imitation

- Messages out of the club. We are not a "battler" or a "little club out of 5014". We are ****ing Port Adelaide and we were the measuring stick. Yet now we are trying to play us down as the little fish in an ocean. **** that. Its time to stop praising everyone else and saying "we tried hard" and time to start putting it on our players, coaches and administration that we arent good enough and we need to get back to where we should be by talking tough and acting tough as a club

- Ken Hinkley. Ive had enough. Selection blunders. Gold passes. Playing short people in our forward 50. No Key Forwards. Game plans that get picked apart too easily. No scoring power. Losing games we shouldnt. Giving up leads and losing, losing close games.. these are all predictable under our current regime and happens far too often. I go to every game but hardly enjoy games anymore as its too ****ing stressful. We dont put teams away anymore. We limp over the line against bottom teams or we close games, or get flogged. We have the odd good win but those are few and far between. This is all down to Kens reign and im over it

- Koch. Embraces the other mob far too much. **** them. Extending Kens contract should have never happened. China seems to be a failed waste of time. Lack of respect for the members and he is the main culprit of the "little battlers out of 5014" talk about our once feared club. Appointing more "yes David" type board members. He seems to have way too much say in everything this club does and not much of it is any good these days

- NTUA is becoming cringeworthy as i feel that its the current admin thats tearing us apart at the moment

That will do for now

I must admit after another close loss in the same familiar fashion to a team we should undoubtedly beat, I do feel somewhat better when i login to the club website and look our vast range of membership options.

Its also great comfort just knowing that if i were to bump into KT pre-game he would probably acknowledge a polite hello.

The current administration are not the club.

We we are the club and NTUA is more relevant than ever.

So the question in my mind is whether the thread can be biased by top posting posters?

I was sort of thinking of doing this sort of analysis just when the lost faith thread disappeared into the icloud, trash can or archived for prosperity???
Check out the Pareto principle sometime. It’ll blow your mind.

I have skipped over a bit of this thread so apologies if I have missed something, but seems the best place to post this.

I have heard on good authority that Schofield is appalled and frustrated with the level of commitment from the playing group, and just how soft they all are. Not only on field, but their approach to preparation and commitment.

The first thing they are doing today when arriving in Perth is having a team meeting - apparently one of the players legitimately said they'd rather relax than do that, he had to reiterate that it was non-negotiable. He's also had to already allegedly apologise for going too hard at a player, because it doesn't fit into Ken's soft coaching methods.

We've gone full circle - wasn't Ken like this in 2013?

His team was undefeated last year. The faster we replace Ken with Jarrad the better, before another club picks him up.

‘One of the players’ said that? Or one of the co-captains, perhaps?

Too much emphasis on everything BUT winning AFL games. e.g. indigenous, community etc.

Will be even worse when we have a women's team.

I couldn't give a flying f**k in a rolling donut about anything apart from winning men's AFL games.

Dear malcolm,
You need to take things less seriously and widen your horizons while awaiting winning the next mens afl game or premiership.

Kind regards

We over committed on Ken Hinkley early in 2015 and now we cannot get out of it. We all thought Hinkley was something he isn't, a messiah come to lead us from oblivion. Hinkley's original contract would have expired at the end of this year not the end of 2018 had we not jumped the gun.
What is interesting is that if you look at the article in the link below Keith Thomas says that Hinkley was not going anywhere, 'I don't think anyone was seriously thinking that Ken was available in the very near future' . Hinkley confirms this, saying 'there was no need to worry about losing me'. That being the case you wonder why the rush to extend Hinkley's contract.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-03-26/hinkley-resigns

Darren Burgess' contract also expires at the end of 2018 and he also is not the guru we thought he was. A long list of soft tissue injuries and our in ability to run out last quarters suggests something is not right. We beat a number of other clubs for Burgess' signature and again we over committed. Had we stuck by the original deal Burgess' contract would have expired at the end of 2015.

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...comes-highest-paid-in-afl-20140617-zsajj.html

Burgess is reported to be on 4M over the term of his contract and Hinkley is probably around 500k per year so paying these guys out would be expensive.

if I had to point to one thing we have got wrong over the past four years over commitment to certain personnel would be it.

I put the above post up in 2017 and while the Burgess bit is ancient history, the reference to decisions about the re appoinment of Hinkey are still relevant. I had forgotten about the Thomas and Hinkley comments but they certainly make for interesting reading and leave us wondering why we jumped the gun in re appointing Hinkley. The more I read the more I have to put the decision down to shocking business management. If, as Thomas says, the contracted Hinkley was not on the market and if, as Hinkley says, he was not going anywhere why the **** did we re appoint him? It just does not make any sense.

If its taken Hinkley up until last season to realise he needs to become an individual who is constantly upskilling (he admitted this) to be the best, I worry about what else he has missed. I was genuinely shocked when he confessed this and pretty ****ed off there was 0 accountability surrounding it as well.

Given what I have heard about Schofield as a WAFL coach, this doesn't surprise me in the least. It is also why I found the comments about his performance as a midfield coach rather bemusing - he's had 3 games to rectify our issues and is obviously pushing shit up hill to an extent. He is someone who expects elite standards from his players, and he will do the same in return. And guess what? His players loved him for it, you could see it in the way Subiaco played and his relationship with the players.

They are athletes. They don't need to be mollycoddled and helicopter-coached. If you have a small clique who don't like it, **** them off. We'll be better for it in the long run.

To finish, an anecdote I heard from 2 Subiaco premiership players:

They had a players wedding one night, and training booked in for the next morning. Schoey told them to not worry, training would be a light one, and then kept feeding the players that were there piss all night. Lo and behold they rocked up to training suitably rat-shit, and were smashed with intense physical exercise for 2 hours.

And the players still loved and respected him. Probably more than the Port players do with their wet-nurse Ken.

Its called the Pareto Principle or 80/20 rule. Affects almost anything you analyze.

Bummer IF this is legit and not just some made up rumour, now we have to guess which players are slackers. It definitely wouldn’t be Boak that’s for sure

Yeah must admit that you're right.

Being bailed out so that we have money for assistant coaches, proper fitness staff, recovery equipment, moving from Adelaide FC Park to Adelaide Oval, one club etc etc does pale into insignificance compared to your list. :)

This does sound believable to me. hinkley is not in the same league as Schofield. We will continue to find out what hinkley is about as this year continues to unfold. If hinkleys ineptness is as most have assessed then things will continue to turn nasty at PA. When they do that dropkick kock must be rissoled out the door at the same time. My contempt for both these buffoons continues to grow daily.
