Problem I see with Cutler he is not really defensive. Which I think is how the pies killed us last night we had too many offensive only mids.
His ball use is great.
Cutler should be in that side. He is alot better than some already in the seniors. He cannot be any worse defensively considering some already in the seniors.

Is there anywhere we can get the actual stats breakdown for all the players and teams from the NEAFL sides?

I can find the reports with some info on the standouts, and I can find the breakdown of goalscorers, but otherwise I'm not having much luck with any more depth.

Cheers

NEAFL Fixture & Results

Otherwise the NEAFL app for iOS and Android has that kind of stuff with more detailed stats. It's also updated live which is pretty handy.

Feels like a Karnezis situation. Fans howling that his NEAFL form demands selection and then when he gets elevated we all see why the coaches were so reluctant.

Coleman was the NEAFL rising star this week. Highlights package are a must-watch for those who didn't get to see the game on Friday,

I was hoping we could keep this a secret until he was safely on our list tbh

Coleman already being spoken about on the draft board by non Lions fans, without first being mentioned by any of us. One poster who watches the NEAFL games on youtube said he rates Coleman ahead of Cedric Cox. Not that fans commenting on a kid means anything come draft time.

At this stage, I'm guessing Coleman might be the first of two or three academy kids that might receive bids come draft night.

We might come to regret not picking him up in the rookie draft last year now! But if he keeps playing the way he is I'm happy to play a fair price, he's very exciting.

Maybe missing out was the catalyst for him going to a new level. The Academy coaches know these kids inside out.

No doubt Knightmare will have him top 10 by the end of the year ;)

If we haven't talked Knightmare into rating him top 5 by the end of the month I'll be pretty disappointed in this board.

I was just having a look at the phantom draft board for the 1st time this season and Knightmare has GWS academy boy Thomas Green as his current number 1 ranked player for this years draft.

And I'm pretty sure he will already have Sydney academy kid Errol Gulden as his number 1 ranked kid for next year. Which wouldn't be a stretch, as Gulden has looked better than any other academy kid so far this year.

I hope Fox Footy are showing the U17 game against NZ this weekend. Early look at next years top rated kids.

Ive often found it bewildering why our elite Australian junior side plays games against the likes of NZ and South Africa; they always win well and I don’t see how those games would be more beneficial than playing against Australian teams at a semi pro level.

I agree, I'd much rather them play a better, local opponent.

One club recruiter mentioned that the result is pretty immaterial, so to the skills of the opponent, as what the recruiters look for is how the kids deal with playing against men with developed bodies. Very similar view of how recruiters take watching the U18 team versus the VFL they play. Pretty sure this was mentioned on Cal Twomey's podcast.

Well kind of. I think most supporters have actually been pretty impressed with his form when he has played seniors. The fact he has started the past couple of years in the reserves has then led supporters to analyse his game to try and work out what he is doing wrong. The eye test when watching him play is generally pretty positive.

We have had a few players that were not given a decent go in the past eg. Crisp, Polec, etc. These players went elsewhere due to that reason. What I saw of the reserves game at the weekend - Cutler is a cert for SENIORS. His form is very good and he worked hard. He wanted the ball and his enthusiasm showed. Our selector's cannot ignore his form. In the seniors some players are not showing much at all, changes are a must and he is one that must come into the seniors.

NEAFL form isn't everything. If it was the Grogan medallist would be drafted each year.

Crisp was playing very well in our AFL side in the last year he was with us already - he only went to Collingwood as part of a mega trade for Beams. He was happy to stay from what I'm aware of.

I think the story was that it was clear to him that his new contract wasn't a high priority for us which led him to explore opportunities.

Polec also came straight back in every time he returned from injury, so I'm not sure how that counts as "not given a decent go". He was just injured a heap.
