Watched the last quarter on Valley Vision, great stuff, if finals are played on small grounds, i'm backing the old YV clubs. Berwick had to play a different style yesterday and their backs were caught out, Gorringe seemed to dominate the centre bounce.

Look at Olinda. Been super good over the last few years.

The reserves who played off in a grand final in their last game just got done by 170 points and there under 18's but 193 points.

While the seniors will work out their level its the reserves and 18's who will be impacted. Unfortunately the numbers in these towns cant support good reserves numbers compared to the new sides.

This will get VERY VERY ugly this year. Try convincing people to play local footy when they are getting smashed. I know its early but i can see a lot of the mountain clubs struggling to field sides in the next few years when interest goes.

This has been happening for years with clubs like Warby, Alex, Yea and Thornton. It wasn't an issue to people because the bigger clubs were winning, now there is competition and people are starting to worry. Adapt and move forward.

Spot on Footyfan70. If your list doesn't stick around through the hard times then maybe you need to check the character of people involved. The quality ones will stick around. As said, Thornton, Alex, Yea, Kinglake, Powelltown all have lesser populated towns and have all gone through years with 0 - 2 wins in the last 15 years. They keep coming back.

Clubs can survive a year or 2 of it but if its year after year then it takes its toll.

Its clearly already a struggle for most clubs to get 18's even the successful ones. That's only made harder by knowing they cant compete. Some of the new clubs have towns of 40,000 compared for less than 2000 for some smaller towns.

Round 1 -

Healesville, Olinda and Wandins reserves all went down by over 80 points and as much as 177.

Gembrook, Olinda, Wandin went down by 120, 193 and 202 in the 19s.

It'll damage the Yarra Ranges clubs. There is to big a population difference.

It’s one of big reasons the SEFNL fell over.
Doveton, Hampton Park etc could not keep going on just making up the numbers against Berwick, Narre and Cranbourne.

The problem for HP and doveton is there surrounded by alot of other footy clubs, doveton eagle's endeavour hills, hallam, lyndhurst, dandy redlegs lyndale and sandown cobras, that is alot of clubs too compete with too get players, the new league is one round in and we just need too take chill pill and sit back and wotch proceedings unfold.

I have stated on numerous occasions priod to the formation of this new league (afl outer east)that it would e sensible for efl and YVMDFL to amalgamate. However i do commend the new setup but there gaps in the smaller yvmdf clubs competing against the larger cities of Packenham Officer Berwick ect. Merging with EFL, wouls see an even spread accross the board using the term demographic and would be eve more benificial to the outer east division two thaf could see sides like Chirnside,Coldstream and Croydon north ect mking that division prosper

Some pretty ugly scores in a couple of games today.
Also looks like Kinglake are the big improvers in D2.

Those scorelines weren't unexpected.

Doesn’t make them any prettier.
Limited sample size so far but imo the league will need to at least consider moving 2 teams up/down from Premier and Div 1 for 2020

Won't last you'd think the only people that are happy with new set up are people at the league pumping up there CV'S. Terrible for the local YV clubs and could see a heap tip over.

It might end up with the seven SE clubs in premier division along with two YV clubs who happen to be strong at the time.

Why 2 teams, healsville will be the whipping boys of premier division, every one new that and the rest of the Yarra ranges teams will bo more than competitive in premier division

I’m happy for the year to pan out before making any calls.
If Healesville are alone in really struggling then makes sense for a one up-one down scenario, however if there’s another side that struggles and only knocks off Healesville then it’s worth considering.

Strange though - the whole reason the SEFNL teams didn't want MPNFL was because they wanted divisional football!!
The SE clubs wanted too relocate into the MPFNl...but the MPNFL didn't want them,so there next best option was too join the Yarra Ranges.

Believe their was only one club, Doveton was the one, who were the other two Tackle Bag?
Yeah Doveton definitely met them. I heard there was also some talks held about a group of sefnl clubs coming over that were kept very quiet. I heard this from a very good source.

Afl outer east would like too announce, its official theme song is....how bizarre.....because if u look at the results, how farkin bizarre

Seems like home ground advantage is actually a thing!
Will be interesting to see if the trend continues throughout the year.
