Murphy Fisher O’Brien Curnow Dow Gibbons SPS are also vastly different types to McGovern and Silvagni.

That's why we have the popular term medium forward between KPF and smalls.

I will be interested to see how we actually set up. If the way we set up turns out to be McGovern, Silvagni, Curnow C, McKay and Casboult plus one unfortunate other, I would be very worried.
I’d be very surprised, not going to happen Laph.

Just like we did last week.

Don't believe I made that comment for the Dogs game last week, but I definitely made that comment against Gold Coast prematch which proved to be correct.

In fairness, just have a look at what happened against Gold Coast.

Apart from a 15 minute period where McGovern worked some magic, the structure didn't work for us.

It's great to be positive, as long as glaring deficiencies aren't ignored.

Maybe it was our ball use and kicking to Gibbons was the issue?

Maybe Charlie will play wing? Maybe we think it’s a better line up against the opposition?

Maybe we believe we are playing to our strengths?

Just maybe?

Not fussed who we choose, love em all. Now let’s just @#)$&& win this game.

If we win going in tall is a master stroke. Lose, grab your torch and pitch forks.

I would say the reason we lost against GC wasn't because we had too many talls. It was our failure to play to structure, all those talls and we still tried to put it on Gibbons head about five times.

Amen!

That could have gone two ways.

One possible result was that the Bulldogs torched us off half back. The other was that our midfield destroyed the best clearance side in the season to date and ensured our talls had the advantage.

It is not a proven recipe for success.
They were also horrendous in front of goal.

We lost the game in the last 10 seconds.

It’s definitely going to be fascinating to watch the changes throughout the game, they might have the advantage in that department as they have the much more experienced side and without runners it makes it hard for a young side to make in game changes, we might just have to battle through with 2 tempos until the change of quarters and then make structural changes. Can’t wait it’s going to be a strategic ripper.

A virtually unheard assessment, and important.

The no runners ruling kills less experienced sides who don't have the depth of knowledge to adapt on the run.

Through the pre season and season to date there have been two or three times where the opposition came out either at the start or after a break with an approach we did not handle well. And we got blown away until the next time the coaches got into the players' ears.

I guess that’s what Bolton was talking about in his presser. Not “standing on top of each other” and “being responsible for different layers”.
Yeah it's still a work in progress, and you're right, Curnow isn't slow neither is gov, so if we can be disciplined it could very well work

Horses for courses. If you have 5 tall forwards on a windy day and you kick high to one of them, the wind blows it over the head of the second and straight into the arms of the third. Makes perfect sense to me and confuses the crap out of the oppo.:drunk:
Now that’s positivity!!!

No, I believe we lost the game before that. I believe that our players didn't think they could win, wet their pants, and the rest is history. Last week they grew some, this week will grow again in belief.

This is shaping to be a very very very potent side my dearest dearest Aphrodite.

I hope so crushy.

We lost the game across 4 quarters.

The way Gold Coast were playing, we should have won by 6-8 goals.

The outcome was a goal kicked in the final 10 seconds, but we didn't capitalise on our opportunities to put them away because our structures broke down.

Is this what you say when you forget to bring the apple?

Bloody oath. Young with lots of improvement and importantly cohesion still a long way off.

So much improvement to come but we are way ahead of where we were last year.

If we can get it all together in 12-24 months will have one heck of a line up playing week in week out

Exciting times

We have moved on from Rnd 4 and we are now at Rnd 6.

I believe we are a chance this week Eiffel.

Come at me. :p

Tallest side I can remember us playing in a loooong time. However, as evidenced by last week (which was only marginally "shorter" and still considered tall), it matters HOW you play far more than anything else.

If we play a game style that compliments the height then all good. It's a point of difference that could win matches.
