To put it into greater context, Freo are +188 from turnovers, Melb are second with +173 and Brisbane are third with +73.

That's a chasm between first and third. Melb & Brisbane are two premiership favourites.

They highlighted their running power and showed vision of them marking the ball in defence, then immediately moving the ball through the corridor or open side, running forward in waves.

We really give up the corridor far too easily, need to be switched on and cover it better and yeah, big job for the forwards.

This is why I think we drop this one.

They are best at the thing we are having trouble stopping. And I can’t see how we fix that issue in a week.

Voss and the coaching staff will be earning their money this week. And if we do win, then wow!

Looking forward to this one.

Their strengths are what our number 1 weakness is. Lets see how we can combat this. We get killed on turnovers and with a loose behind the ball. They are the best in the comp at this.

On the flip side, our strengths are their weakness. Not a great contested ball or clearance side. Lets see how they combat this one.

Hopefully we're looking forward to matching it against an equal rather than games we have been expected to win recently. The coaching team have their work cut out on this one.

Should be a tight close fought battle.

The scoring from turnovers stat for the second half went up on the board during the last quarter. It was something like Port 38 and us 0. Very similar to two weeks before. We really need to able to annihilate them out of the centre and focus on locking the ball inside 50.

On the rebound… deep full back and back pocket we look to get the ball out ok to the d50 arc of hb/hbf. It’s the exit out of d50 where we get killed.

Kill a high press with short sharp deliveries to your runner and good ball users and create an overlap. It’s here where we need the smalls, not CC or McKay, being the targets… or more midfield goal contribution. It’s be good to see some attacking 45deg passes to open up the field (either from the corridor to wing or vice-versa).

Long bombs to tall guys won’t work if they can’t halve a contest. I know we like to take the ball to out of bounds to set up for the clearance, but it’s too obvious and too far exploited.

Would love Vossy to try something different (he said in the presser that they are trying stuff, but from the lay-observer, it looks the same old same old).

I think you accidently put a 1 at the front there

Yes understand he has been poor at AFL & VFL level...

Wonder if match committee would be contemplating bringing TDK back for team balance,
to take 2nd ruck duties as Freo have 2 legit rucks Darcy and Lobb...

If Oscar is fit, another option is to put Young up against Lobb. He's rucked a bit for the Dogs before (though not overly successfully but to be honest neither is TDK at the moment).

Has the added bonus of being able to follow in to the defensive 50 if Lobb pushes forward.

Absolutely, but that's a big if, been suppose to be available the last 2 weeks...

Also we can use him for a taller type set up in the fwd 50 and Freo aren't blessed with great tall defenders.

Out: slowing the game down after half time

In: keep attacking and keep the pressure on
Are you even watching the games? The only reason we're slowing is because we're attacking too much and run out of legs.
We need to control the tempo and time our runs better. Play some slow, possession heavy, gradual build up footy while we get some energy back.

Stats for 2021 season, Darcy compared to Pittonet

Darcy comprehensively the better player.
Where this is the comparison for this year:

I'm not arguing that Pittonett is the better player, simply that he's likely to be the better player this week.

Yep have to back ourselves when teams are throwing the kitchen sink at us. Just need to manipulate the numbers when they start positioning players to run off their lines to pressure us. I think the boys have to live it to understand it. It’s a tough game especially when you are the team getting hunted.

Amateur take. Voss said that we’ve tried a few approaches after half time and none of them have worked. It’s quite clearly a tactical / gameplan issue with a sprinkling of psychological effect due to the same thing occurring in 3/5 matches.

That the entire team is only fit enough to run out 1 half of footy and then collapse cause they can’t run anymore is ridiculous and surface level analysis.

Freo board the only one I've been suspended on so I won't bother heading over, just smash the plebs.

They can be an oddly arrogant mob considering they've never achieved anything.
