Let me apologise. Sincerely. I know that contrite is a special word and needs to be used sparingly, in case it loses all meaning.
So you’re contrite about your use of contrite?

Jordan now realises that football is a monument to ego, ego the enemy of happiness.

He will not be coming back to the club, or to the game.

He renounces women, wine and wealth.

He will join a monastery, and is inspired to help build monasteries like John Rambo at the beginning of Rambo III.

He’s just going to walk the earth.

I'm not suggesting that he should get a payrise. His behaviour negatively impacted the club because that's the media landscape at the moment, so he obviously won't - the media's behaviour would negatively impact their club too if the industry didn't take a different version of "boys will be boys" approach to them. A wise man recently pointed out the difference between acceptance and consent - but it's virtually impossible to argue a lack of consent when acceptance is ongoing. And at the moment the blind eye of acceptance is being turned by the whole industry. And organisations like the AFL and CFC do actually have a fair bit of power and influence within the realm.

There’s little I can do other than yield given such sage advice has been brought to bare.

My only take on this is that there are so many Collingwood players playing now who deserve and warrant the time and energy that has been spent on agonising on this bloke

DeGoey is a great player and after already losing Treloar due to salary cap bungles we can't afford to have him walk out the door for a pick that will take years to come along. If we lose tomorrow the season is cooked anyway. What a horrible turn after such a great vibe going into the bye round.

* Needs more Swanny and the rat pack.

I don’t think the historical stuff really counts much … because back in the day all teams were hard and had their bad boys.

You could cite counter arguments in the modern era. The Lions won three Premierships with Akermanis before getting the shits with him and cutting him loose. Hawks clearly didn’t try too hard to hang onto Franklin and didn’t suffer too much for him leaving. Barry Hall got cut from Swans. Fev was too much for Carlton and Brisbane … Brisbane going so far as to pay him to leave.

Yeah, you cite Dusty and chopstickgate, but that same coach only a few weeks ago had a crack at his own player Shai Bolton for ‘showing the ball’.

The times have changed. The days of worshipping the hard men and bad boys has now gone from not just Collingwood, but the wider competition and wider society.

Yeah…..you’ve missed the point altogether.

If we want to win.

It’s mostly the bad boys that get the job done. When the shit hits the fan. They’re the ones who do the extraordinary.

You can scold them. You can try and curtail their natural behaviors. But at the end of the day. They have to be who they are to have success.

Ackerman is was done and they’d won their flags. Buddy was on his last strike. And they’d lose him if he failed another drug test. Hall got cut after the flag. Dev got hounded out like DeGoey. For the most part they were all used for what their natural instincts were to win their teams Premierships.

I can’t explain it to people who think that competitive sport is played by nice people. You have to be a killer. Lines get crossed. And it’s those that are will to do what it takes to win that succeed. Some can control that instinct outside and some can’t. And to expect them to curb it is absolutely folly. Especially if you understand what it is to be in that situation.

Bailey Sniff doesn’t point to his vein because his a nice wholesome kid. He doesn’t headbutt Thouy by chance. It’s because he thrives on the adrenaline that’s produced when he is at his most uncompromising. And that’s what gets him to play the way he plays. That’s his nature. Now when it comes to his personal life he is trying to find that same feeling. DeGoey at his best is the same. Uncompromising. Both strike me as not too bright. So asking them to tone things down is a kin to asking Samson to cut his hair. You may not like the outcome. Just as DeGoey’s response to the forced apology. He is done now.

The AFL have been trying to change this for the best part of 2 decades with the amount of support and education these players are getting. From when they are drafted to continual internal processes and programs to make them better. As to the social norms and acceptable societal behaviors. Yet we still have the same things happening. Every year there are players behaving badly. And no one seems to understand why this is STILL happening.

I know one things is certain. We can’t have 11 Pendebury’s and 11 Moore’s in the team.

So now is seems JDG is playing the victim and angry with the Club for having the temerity to expect him to conduct himself as a highly paid professional athlete and calling him out when he lets himself and his team-mates down for the umpteenth time. Poor little Jordan, the world is against him. It’s so unfair.

Some people will always find an excuse, or someone else to blame, instead of facing up to their own failings and responsibilities. JDG is one of them.

I really hope the penny drops for DeGoey and that he dedicates himself to being the best version of himself as an athlete and person. But I won’t hold my breath.

I wonder if JDG’s team-mates are fed up with the circus that he creates.

Collingwood will not object to or protest against the death penalty, however a Club spokesperson stated “we will support him in this difficult time & hug him as soon as we can”

“We just want to get him to the club and put our arms around him, slowly compressing his trachea and cutting off the supply of oxygen to his brain, ultimately killing him for his crimes against humanity.”

Too late - the supply of oxygen to Jordy’s brain was cut off some time ago.

A friend has a theory. You need a mix of your non tatts players (the non dickheads) e.g Moore and Pendlebury and you tatts players (dickheads) e.g De Goey/Martin etc. Similar to what you say. All players with tatts you cant win neither a team with non tatts. needs balances which is also different characters.

Maybe he is already the best version of himself, who are we to judge.
