I hope whatever happens tomorrow that our boys put on a great effort on the weekend and smash gold coast (sorry i can't find the thread for the game)

hmm I’m not sold as sold as some on that clip. It was almost as if he felt guilty mentioning Rutten’s name knowing he’s gunning for his job…

Yep
Ever since the Essendon drama went down on Monday i have been feeling like he would join them.
It felt like to much of a coincidence.
I have gone up and down in confidence levels.
After that clip I'd say i feel he will join Essendon, sadly.

The collective emotional angst this whole saga has caused has been incredible. Nothing short of amazing.
Will it be worth it? Probably not. But Saturday comes, 22 boys run out in blue and white stripes and we couldn’t care less whose in the box. White line fever and winning is why we’re all here.

Sun will rise no matter what we hear and we’ll still all be here next week posting s**t as per usual. 24 hours.
The man said so. Let’s all take a deep breathe and woosahhhhh

It's like a game of footy that goes over weeks. 18 hours a day. Last thing I look at when i go to bed. First thing I look at when I wake up. All I look at during the day. The fact it is Vs * just amplifies it further.

Clarko has been in high intensity media facing roles for decades. The man knows how to handle a doorstop.

If he was going to Essendon and taking Rutten's job, he wouldn't have mentioned Essendon let alone Rutten in those terms.

At all.

He would have gone thanks guys yeah I'm making up my mind, got my own processes, all clubs know where I'm at, see ya.

GWS are out of it.

He mentioned McVeigh, Rutten and Adams because he's a classy act in the industry like that.

They've all had speculation about him taking the job they're in.

It's us and Essendon and he went out of his way to criticise their actions with their current coach.

Chill folks. For once we're getting a good thing. It doesn't happen often, most times we lose to the bIg cLuB with BLOCKBUSTERS.

But we don't always lose - if we did we WOULD have merged/folded/relocated like all the Essendon supporters who post on here in between taking their sister's knickers off the the laundry pile for a big old sniff want us to.

Sometimes we get the win. We haven't for ages. We've had a shitful five years.

But it had to end sometime, and it now.

(Imo, I don't have inside info and have been smoking good weed all arvo.)

Or he has already decided on a position and is respectful of an employer who is engineering the announcement.

I'm all set and ready to go if/when it's announced!

That's reasonable but Patch is aware he is the interim coach. I don't think he would care if it was known Clarkson had the job. The way he spoke about Patch gives me hope he might keep him on if he gets the job.

Patch is the only North coach who has a contract for next year. Not going anywhere

So let me get this straight:

  • He's categorically ruled out GWS, and McVeigh was only a caretaker - he did his due diligence and ruled them out
  • Patch Adams has publicly supported the potential acquisition of Clarkson and was never a serious chance at our job - tick
  • Truck Rutten has a year to run on his contract as the head coach of Essendon and by far is the man that deserves the most sympathy - they've treated Rutten like rubbish and this whole Clarkson obsession began because of how shit Essendon has dealt with it all.

How is anyone reading anything negative into this? One of the three coaches he mentions is actually contracted as a head coach, the other 2 are filling in vacancies, one of which (Patch) has publicly supported and expressed excitement at the signing of Clarkson and the other is not an option for Clarko.

There's no need to feel sorry for Patch or McVeigh - Rutten is the only one that has been treated horrifically and unjustifiably so. Clarkson clearly isn't a fan of that, and specifically mentions his sympathies at what Truck is going through.

Yes and no.

Why hasn't he or his manager come out and said anything about the Essendon situation? As he did re: Hinkley.

What is happening to Rutten is absolutely disgusting and by not saying anything and distancing himself from it he is a party to it.
And if he's a party to something distasteful like that then I would conclude that if he wasn't seriously considering their offer then he would've come out strongly by now condemning what's happening.

Hope I'm wrong for the sake of this board and the fans who are heavily invested in the outcome but from my perspective the cards do appear to be lining up Essendon's way. I don't think Clarkson is necessarily the best option for this club (he could be but not as sold as others) however based on the media's reporting of this and Essendon's pathetic behaviour a Clarkson to NM outcome would be great. On the flip side - if he's happy with what's happening at the moment and how disgracefully Rutten has been treated then he has no integrity whatsoever and doesn't practice what he preaches. So * him.

He didn't come out and say anything about Hinkley, it was Hinkley who said he got the text from Clarkson.

it genuinely feels like our last game was a month ago

bruh you've been looking for any sign he will join the Dons all week. Relax

"the way MCVEIGH, PATCH and truck have been treated"....2 of those are uncontracted for next year and it's well known he's said no to GWS. He's still following the script from weeks ago.
"in particular the way Rutten's been treated"

lid off, he's ours!

A win against GC on Saturday would help. Sing the song and have a few beers. (Beers will taste better if we also land Clarko)

I’m only up for a badge if we land the big fish. If we miss out, bury this thread forever.
I’m burying myself if it doesn’t happen

Well maybe I'm wrong, but my impression from those words from Clarkson is that he is saying "enough is enough" and he must now inform all 3 clubs of his decision and I think that will be that he coaches us.

While he mentions all of Patch, McVeigh and Rutten and how this is not fair to them to be kept in some form of uncertainty, the reality is that Patch knows that the job is Clarkson's if he wants it, because we have offered it to him, so there is no uncertainty for Patch. (For all we know, Patch may already know he will be part of the future coaching structure at the NMFC.)

Clarkson has also said he does not want to leave Melbourne, so that rules out GWS, which means any anxiety McVeigh might have, is whether he will get the GWS job or the *essendon job, because clearly Rutten will finish up after this weekend. (Also I have heard that GWS have themselves told Clarkson that they have decided not to offer their position to him.)

So I think what Clarkson might be really saying is that Rutten has been put in a terrible position and that he, Clarkson, needs to announce his decision as quickly as possible, to give clarity to Rutten. Frankly I do not believe anyone outside of the *essendon fc, would think that *essendon have handled this any other way but disgracefully and I think that would be Clarkson's view as well. Hence why would he want to be associated with such a s***ful organisation?
