Hopefully!

My came out earlier in the week. If by some twisted twist of fate they appoint Hird, I’ll be asking for it back…!
They haven’t interviewed anyone else.

My understanding is that the board ratified him last night as our next coach.

Or Atleast a majority who was with him.

Walsh meeting today to make sure it is all hunky dory, aligned on vision values etc etc today.

He was the man from the start.

One person I would believe is Roo and here is his take.

The strengths he mentioned are pretty much are the the exact opposite of the weaknesses of the club many have pointed out on this forum. Wonder if Nick had any influence in the club as a reference. If us forum plebs spot the problems, surely the club has too.

Accountability
Buy-in
High-performance -we have quite a few players who have the high talent ceiling but they are getting no where near it, probably because of those first two point.

I have no idea what the response will be from the group but I have a feeling this will be a 3year goal to get the club where it needs to be.

There were definite rumblings at the time, after the Sydney loss in 2011 that he wasn't the right guy.

Losing so many grand finals, and the trauma of such things does that to you.

We are, without doubt so desperate for a flag that it can definitely be judgement clouding.

I was there at that Sydney game, my confidence in our team and RTB was so strong I thought we would give Sydney a bath. But we did look a little flat and I had no incline that I would be watching Lyons last game as coach.

I don't call the drawn GF a loss, we were amazing that day... and as good as I have ever seen anybody coach ever. Ross coached the pants off Malthouse that day. Malthouse was completely outmaneuvered in every way, it should have been ours but that's sport. Not sure I've ever been prouded of any team after that game, Collingwood were by far the stronger side but RTB was the difference.

This forum is pretty much a bunch of men shouting each other down. Samm isn't an aggressive poster and doesn't play the man. You can let her give her point of view and be accomodating and not abrasive towards her. She's comes on and voices her opinion and one that's shared pretty widely. If you are secure in your opinions you should be able to debate her without getting aggressive or belittling.

I'm not sure that Joffa can.

In a world of this.

Joffa seems to be this....

From what I understand, Ross and his management asked the St Kilda hierarchy for clarity many times and they weren't forthcoming or prepared to put anything on the table other than a below standard one year deal.

I'd put this right in the St Kilda admin corner, you are talking the guys who sent us to Seaford. To say he knifed Mark Harvey is complete LOL.

99.9% of us would do the exact same thing if we were in his shoes.
Again, ive said i dont blame Ross and yeh most would absolutely do the same thing. He wasnt treated well at all and he did nothing contractually wrong but hes not squeaky clean. Dont take any of this as a defence of the club but if you really think Ross was an innocent victim youre off base.

Itnot my personal opinion he knifed Harvey but its Harveys and Ross' (former) management who were cut out of the loop. Again you might think his management can GTFO and who gives a rats about Harvey but if youre going to say the clubs narrative needs balancing with Ross' then those two parties have their own version of events and its not supportive of Ross.

To be perfectly clear, i dont blame Ross, employees treated badly leave, thats their right, but Ross' could have been more transparent (not that he had to) and some think that wasnt well handled, i cant blame them for feeling that way even if its not how i feel.

And yet is still happy to fawn over the ‘sport’. He’s happy to trumpet every cause except for racing.
I don't really understand where your coming from to be honest

He fawns over lost of sports. He's a genuine sports nuffy.

But he's also had plenty of moments on his show when he has spoken very negatively towards the racing industry, just like he has the AFL, cricket Aus etc

Hopefully the "Lyon appointed as Head Coach" thread gets created before we have to go onto part 2 of this one
Yes will be doing that if this hits 10k replies before the announcement.

credit goes to stavro#4 as posted above
thanks, had not time to view this.

A lot of people sticking up for RTB when he left the first time. When that happened, I thought he was a campaigner. I still think he’s a campaigner. But we need a campaigner. Bring on Ross the campaigner (RTC).
He's an absolute campaigner.

If it's true that they have been in talks since before the sacking then that's twice he's Ben a sneaky little **** and taken a job from a contracted coach.

But he's the right man for the job IMO
