Owens in the ruck?

Did the Acres experiment teach us NOTHING?
Not a heap of timber left that will be round 1 for.

Good news is Coffield trained fully today (contact)

I was surprised to see Owens up against Moose not on one but two separate training sessions.

What was more surprising was he beat Moose every time.

If we’re anywhere close to full strength (at least for midfield, or running types) the competition for spots will be immense.

Steele
Gresham
Jones
Crouch
Seb
Clark
Windy
Bytel
Hill
Wood
D-Mac
Sincs
Wangmil
Coffield
Paton
Webster
Stocker
Billings
Higgins
Butler
Owens
Phillipou

22 of them who could play and we wouldn’t bat an eyelid, and then close behind or maybe even ahead of one or two of them would be Byrnes and Leo, who are not really “kids” anymore. Thus they could be ready for a big step forward.

We might be light in for AFL standard tall options, but we have depth up the wazoo in midfield or running types who are AFL quality.

I think our inside midfield brigade is very solid and it was getting the ball to the outside for better users that was letting us down last year. If we can integrate Hill and others to deliver the ball inside 50 and add some variation it could be massive. I think having no chance to rely on King early might hurt us but longer term be very beneficial still. Sharpen up delivery, speed and quality of the rebound and spread the goal kicking around and we could have a massive jump.

I’d say Owens will give Marshall a chop out in the ruck, providing an extra mid at ground level.
The difference between Owens and Acres is Mitch is strong, aggressive & a competitive beast.. Acres was not!

Yeah sure, but on one condition, can you whack the farg out of you shins with a solid lump of 4be2 and report back about your experience.
I am having a bit of difficulty working out what or who is more annoying. You or your avatar. But I come in peace and don't have access to any 4be2.

Wasn't even talking to you so not sure how I was bothering you. Also, it's not very trivial when they are completely different injuries and are treated differently especially in that context.
Dude, chill. He is saying it from Harvs point of view, because Harvs "dealt" with it when he got it. Jumped off a deck multiple times and snapped it himself to halve his recovery time.

Are people at all concerned that the majority of teams have played full intraclub scenarios by now, some of them multiple, and we haven't so much as had a half full team to be able to train these scenarios?

I think this year is definitely a step back regardless - seems heavy on the education and less on the chemistry and game sense at this stage....

Ok well then maybe for your own sanity close your left eye when you visit BF so the Avatars don't trigger you. You seem fine other than that.

Alot of people talking up Owens, pinch hitting in the ruck thing. How about we just play [PLAYERCARD]Tom Campbell[/PLAYERCARD] as 23rd man, each week & if Marshall is struggling on his own, then get the worst player, for that game, off with a migraine, & replace him with Campbell. Geezuz, expecting a 2nd year player of Owens size & age to be playing in a position he has not played before, is getting bloody annoying. If he pinch hits against Gawn or Grundy, he'll get slapped over the boundary from the centre square, like some annoying mosquito (Mitchito) at a picnic bbq.

Oh right, my bad. Didn't get the memo

Campbell is dealing with an achilles issue atm, in a race to be ready for round 1

Friday Feb 24
St Kilda v Melbourne, RSEA Park, 4pm AEDT (6 x 25 min, no time on)

Friday, March 3
St Kilda v Essendon, RSEA Park, 4.10pm AEDT

Couple of Friday Arvo games to start the year off. Sounds good to me

As reported by AFL.com.au last month, clubs will be able to replace a player with an unused substitute at any stage of the game, for any reason. The two-year-old rule of players needing a medical reason to be substituted out of the game will no longer apply.

Disappointed they’re bringing the sub back. The medical sub made sense but it was awful watching players make their debut without stepping on the field.

Why can’t we just accept that injuries happen and it doesn’t need to be made fair?

Probably seen as decreasing the odds of a betting market blowout, ensuring the favourite won't be knee-capped by a player going down within 5 minutes.
