That's a "WTF have I done" face if I've ever seen one.

Anyone else bemused by how Cerra has faded into obscurity? I watched Carltank's match sim 'highlights' and all he managed was pointing and being a seagull. Saw Acres once, I think he might have even touched it. It was hard to tell with the work experience kid manning the camera.

Zac Dawson is one of the greatest value players we have ever picked up. Selected for free in the PSD. Played every game when fit until we hit rebuild mode.
Look, I know I do disagree with your posts a bit and can be a little bit prickly, but I have to respectfully disagree.
Dawson was delisted twice. Most players do not survive that. A case can be made that if Ross Lyon didn't exist - either would Dawson. He might have done ok at the Saints but playing Dawson at Freo was a diabolical decision. One guy (Sam Collins) went on to win a best and fairest at another club because he couldn't get an opportunity at Freo.

Tbf he couldn’t get an opportunity at any other club either until he worked on himself in the seconds

Sam Collins couldn’t get an opportunity at Freo in 2017 when he played two games and looked well below the standard required, and was playing as a defender all year at Peel. Zac played the first two games of 2017 before Ross pulled the plug on him, and he went onto play as a KPF/Ruck at Peel knowing his AFL days were numbered, and didn’t play another game at AFL level. Zac in 2012-2015 (when Collins wasn’t on the list), was a fine role player when we were contending, and when things went to shit was an experienced placeholder alongside an inexperienced KPD next to him (AP until broken leg then Collins).

We lost the first 9 games of 2016. Realistically, Collins should have been getting picked at that point before Dawson. I think Ross Lyon is a great coach but he has his flaws, like not being flexible enough on the run and playing favourites. In 2017 Collins was absolutely dominating at WAFL level. He'd regularly have games where he'd take 12-15 marks and even won the best and fairest playing full back ffs. He was definitely at AFL level at that stage, and may have been there sooner if given more game time.

The fact that Collins won a beat and fairest at gc says more about them than people want to think

And yes he is a much improved player over there but yeah he would've been 5th in line here for many years after Moose, cox, hammer, Griff
Well, it looks like this is a hill I will die on. Collins was injured last year, but the year before there is absolutely no way he would be behind Logue and Hamling getting picked (And arguably was in better form than a fully fit Alex Pearce and Cox too) He was holding guys like Naughton goal less and was in AA contention.

It's a fair point but we don't know what goes on with players (mentally and otherwise) when they are not getting picked in the senior side. He might have wanted some time away from the game. I don't know. What I do know is that he was absolutely dominating at WAFL level when delisted by us in 2017.

I could be off here, but wasn't Collins told to bulk up which ended up hamstringing him for speed. I seem to recall him being lumbering with us, and a liability defensively at AFL level.
When in doubt, blame Weber, works for me

I don't know if it was Collins but it did happen with Medhurst. Then he went to Collingwood where he slimmed down and looked like his old self again.

Yeah, that was kind of crazy. Didn't he lose 15kgs or something like that? Then started kicking goals from everywhere. I reckon some players are just not meant to have big bodies. Stephen Hill never looked the same when he was encouraged to bulk up.

Saw a clip of this on one of the St Kilda threads as it has an anectdote about a training discussion between Kepler & Ross Lyon during his Fremantle days so I thought I'd track down the full podcast.

Not sure if its been posted before. Its about 5 months old, recorded in the week leading up the the 1st Round of the 2022 AFL Finals, but I hadn't seen it before. Kepler talking with a couple of dudes that are low profile to me - one seems to be a current WAFL player as there's a bit of WAFL discussed.

Some adult content but it gives a bit of insight into Kepler's personality and how he thought of himself as a player.

Sounds like some ****ing great coaching there.

Changed his life.

He had osteitis pubis late last year so he had limited opportunity to run and build endurance, was scheduled to play the first half of the intra club last week and looked pretty good. I think the plan is 3/4 against Richmond on Friday and a full game the following week against the Dogs. He should be good to go round one but I'd imagine it will take him a bit longer to get to where he wants to be, physically speaking.

Hill is a tricky one. He wasn’t bulky, perhaps just bulked too quickly. Also having played every single game possible unless injured since debut had a mitigating factor.
He was primed in 2017. Had a game where he was just dominating and ready to explode. Next week, he was injured and never came back.
Bradley never really bulked, but he was bigger then Stephen when he was drafted.

Collins was definitely a hard done story. Dawson retiring and Ross was probably as stubborn as he ever has been in his career at that point. Hell even ****ing Taberner was being forced to play Peel gaining 20+ disposals, 10 + marks and 2+ goals a game during that time and barely got a look in.
Ross had his favourites and reasons, but these guys deserved more at that time during a 0-9 season. Bizaree

In 2016 Taberner played 3 WAFL games for 7 goals. He played 17 games for Freo averaging a goal a game. Definitely Bizaree the Ross bashing sometimes.

Ha! I call bullshit!

Hmm, I think he definitely had a lot of calls. Ready to go but still young KPD that probably doesnt care what state he goes to would be in pretty high demand. Especially when they are out of contract and not going to cost the world. I think it's going to be a very good trade for North
