Tracking well, already hit a nice homer over left field and we're only a day in.

Lets see if I can better my 2nd swing

Dunno why people are calling for Billo to be omitted or made sub. He’s tracking quite nicely in my opinion.
Just about back to his best.

When the Hawks got those two early goals I thought Billings had a few really clean touches, no fumble collect and handball to advantage, that allowed the ball to move inside 50 quickly and really put the Hawks defense under enormous pressure.

He did go missing though, so really just needs to stay in the game for longer. There was one moment where he dived at the loose ball with real vigor.

I hope he is building, and starts to kick a few himself.

Huge game this week. Expect Steele to take up the challenge on Cripps again and usually makes him his bitch.
Steele clearly over his knee that was giving him trouble and he’s really starting to motor again. He’s had a big month.
Steele, Crouch, Sinclair, Marshall, Wilkie have massive roles this week and will go along way to deciding the 4 points.
Go you mighty saints.

It's been so long since we've taken on an elite Carlton team, I have forgotten the feeling of what it's like being a struggling rabble talking on the mighty Blues.

I hate these guys, but I don't have any classic matches imprinted in my memory - little moments like Milne's attack on Gibbs and his finger dancing goal celebration, the Murphy-Carlisle handbags.

I started following footy a couple of years after the legendary win against the Blues in 1995, would have loved to have been there for that!

What's your favourite match between the Saints and the Blues?

Yeah it's a great point, averaging 27 touches the last month when his average for the season is way lower than that. Him getting back to full form is crucial for us if we're going to win any of these last tricky ones.

2003 round 20. We weren't that good but they were bottom two. Our last game at Princes Park.

We were sitting in the Legends stand, Carlton kicked the first and an angry woman a couple of rows in front of us turned around and gave us a big spray. Saints kicked the next 8, in total 9 for the quarter. Then 9 again in the second quarter. She went home early in the third when we were 12 goals up. We ended up winning by 15 goals or so. The big fella kicked a bag.

Then the next one was pretty fun too.

2004 round 10. We'd won 9 in a row and were sitting pretty on top, they came to Docklands.

Only kicked 7 in the first quarter, that was OK - 5 of them were the big G-Train. But the second quarter we kicked 12, Dal was carving them up, was the most relaxed quarter of footy I think I ever remember. Pretty sure the roof was open that day, someone else might remember? Halfway through the last quarter Milney kicked a goal to get us over the 100 point margin for the first time ever against Carlton, the crowd went wild. 2004 was a fun year at the footy.

1989 round 2 at Moorabbin. Plugger kicked 10 out of 13, including the match winner with less than 30 seconds left. Amazing game.

After comfortably dispatching this mentally fragile group of individuals earlier in the season, I'd imagine we enter this encounter with no fear and a flint-hard resolve to walk away with another W. Sure the Blooze have struck a trickle of form, but after winning their 2023 Grand Final last week - and with a bit of due diligence during the week from RTB and his disciples - I'm again confident the mighty Sainters will take home the chocolates.

That being said, I'd like to see the continuity within the 22 continue to build. We must challenge the Caminiti ban and I sincerely hope if we bring in King, it doesn't lead to more forward-half breakdowns. We've played our best football with smaller forward lines who operate as a single cohesive unit, playing to a strategy, sacrificing for each other and inviting the chaos - as against being overly focussed on one or several individuals, which has lead to predictability and a dearth of scoring. Against the Hawks, our forward line was humming again and our entries went to dangerous areas!

The midfield group plays better with Hunter, Windhager and the additional rotations. It was dead stagnant for a while, thank the lord we look lively again! Sorry Seb but it's been nice knowing ya... Marshall floating forward is great and Owens on ball is bloody unreal. Like the team better with Cordy in it too.

But we need to get in the faces of this mob and play it very physical, they can't stomach the idea of being crunched, they love nothing more than a clean sheet of bruises. Don't give them any space whatsoever, breath down their necks, make them feel every tackle to their bones and they'll soon wilt. Their doe-eyed floppy-limbed forwards are no good once the rest of the team have dropped their heads and internally admitted it's too hard. Bust them open and whats more, run them up and down the wings and into the very foundations of the Dome!

Saints by 33 points.

In terms of form line we are a bottom four team. Our last win against a non-bottom three team was round 13 away to the Swans.

Carlton on the other hand are performing as a top four team having recently beaten the top two teams and a few lower teams that we’ve struggled against quite comfortably.

But on paper we actually match up fairly well and luck is on our side in terms of injuries to both clubs at the right/wrong time depending on what club you support.

I think Ross will have the players fairly fired up for this match. A good start is crucial because if we go behind by 3-4 goals early on our players will mentally collapse as we’ve seen throughout the recent years.

Taking into account current form and injuries I still see the Blues a five goal better team. To have any confidence of a win you need to be thinking that our trajectory is on the way up and there’s is on the way down because as it stands right now they have us well and truly covered.

Was at same game 2003, only, no angry woman near me and instead I spent the 2nd quarter eyeing a pissed off wasp that wanted my drink. Optus was a shithole, made sweeter by that mass ejection when they sucked the fat one.
