McRae is Ted Lassoonly "elite" part of the ground for collignwood was their defence imo
mcrae did a really good job winning the flag with that mob
Wholeheartedly agree, since Gil has come in, the focus has been on the Vic clubs. Probably because he is basically in bed with Ed/Kelly and co.The Pies secret to winning tight games is having the umpires on side for the small advantage they need to break through, like the non-calls in Q4 of the PF as they tried to hold on against a rampaging GWS, who really should have been playing Brisbane in the GF.
The Melbourne footy fraternity seemed to have backed a Pies or Carlton "fairy tale". Not calling back that last free was the final nail for Brisbane. It was obvious they didn't know they had a free. There was no advantage at all. It should've been called back.
If that game had been played at the Gabba there would still have been too many Victorian umpires but on their home ground Brisbane would have eaten Pies for lunch. The AFL needs to follow the trend in European International football (soccer) games and use neutral umpires. The Grand Final should not be played at the MCG but at a neutral venue. It's time to recruit umpires from the northern states.
Personally, the thought of another year of hearing nothing but Collingwood/Nick Daicos talk in the footy media means I'll stick to watching Swans games and nothing else to do with footy in 2024.
Collingwood, the AFL and the Melbourne media should get a room rather than dancing their incestuous horizontal mambo in the public eye.
Trouble is the AFL/VFL are all about the old skool tie brigade. It's an incestuous group of mutual back scratchers. I don't doubt they get together at the beginning of each new year and work out how the season will play out. The trifecta of Brisbane wins from 2001-2003 and subsequent Port-Sydney-WC wins must have shocked them. When Sydney started to get on top again in 2012 and recruited Buddy at the end of 2013 they would have been urged to do something, like slapping a ban on Sydney doing any trading and revoking the cost of living equalisation measures. All the priority and father/son picks the Melbourne clubs were enjoying were not enough. I believe the only reason we were allowed to have our academy is the AFL were not going to make permanent inroads into NSW without grass roots footy. Players like Gulden, Heeney and Mills would have had to turn to NRL or soccer to become professionals and remain in NSW.Wholeheartedly agree, since Gil has come in, the focus has been on the Vic clubs. Vic clubs assisted “dominance” continues, hopefully Andrew Dillon can address the balance over the next few years, otherwise interstate clubs will shed supporters in time.
Hawks must be disappointed to have traded him….
This win and what Collingwood has done over the last two years shows what happens when you change coach. New ideas, new methodologies, very similar team and look what happens. Things get stale, and it's a good chance for us to look at it.

Hawks went the youth route.for nothing too
Grundy's happy because he gets the $$$$$$$$Well done Pies, best team all year cracking grand final it was. Feel for the Lions, credit to them on being able to kick some quality goals through their fewer opportunities. Lost their forward half winners as the game wore on and the pies controlled it better. Good on Darcy Cameron too.
Wonder how Grundy is feeling at the moment too, this might give him fuel for next year perhaps.
This wasn't a once off for me. I've been saying it for a long time. The game plan is stale, we keep getting close but close enough doesn't win the premiership. Here we go. Another baby flies out the window in a stream of bathwater.
Last year we knocked Pies out of the PF by one point. This year we made finals despite a horrific start, losing the spine of the team through injuries. Horse has continued to keep Swans in finals contention despite AFL handicaps.
Many of the Pies wins were squeaked home with the umpires getting them over the line. If the two teams swapped coaches Horse could make the Pies unbeatable, except he would do it without a player like De Goey. I can't see Horse coaching a player who assaults women.
Perfect pick up. I'm sure we would have been into him if he hadn't started his career with us, would have been the perfect acquisition for us.for nothing too
A few selfish moments cost that game.Great final
Makes our capitulation even more annoying seeing a contest like that. Geelong would have beaten those teams though.
Jarrod Berry you muppet
Congrats to Collingwood the club and fans aside the team aren’t bad to watch.
