Melbourne have offered their whole draft hand and the best part of next year's, Hawthorn two pointy end firsts and we're into him hard. And these are just the bids we know of.

Would suggest he's rated pretty high by those that matter.

That would be a first

First time we have changed rules
Sliding rule with Thomas
Weekend Bye before finals
Having 19 on field
There is 6 others
FFS
Fascinating how often rules are fine until we're involved.

Your point is proven “at this stage”.

All clubs are playing hard ball because they have time and want their members to think/ know they are trying to get the most for their club.

North tends to work in good faith( much to our frustration at times) so if a deal is done , there will be a win/ win exchange of picks.

My personal feeling is that we will add our future first into the mix to get a deal done as I believe WC want a trade badly and North want Reid badly so it will happen.
Our future first? No way.......unless we aren't giving any of the single digit picks

Couple others.
Mason Wood shot clock
Lindsay and high tackles (5 years after Selwood had been doing it flat out)
The centre bounce re-call. (This was my favourite after Simmo took advantage of a bad bounce against the Pies)

I don’t read that and say conclusively that anything was rejected. WC would be stupid to do a deal yet.

Was McKernan's trip one as well cost him a fair bit.

Reid might be the standout player now but who's to say in 1-2 years time a Mckercher,Dursma or a Curtain won't have closed the gap.Patience North take 2&3 15,17,18 and fill those holes
No doubt. No one has a crystal ball. But the same could be said that with the 3 picks we would trade to WC. 1 might be a role player and the other 2 might be spuds that are delisted in 4 years time, and Reid could captain a team to a flag. Who knows at this stage.

Some decent names in there for sure. 2015 had some decent value there.

Continuing the lonely 3 for 6 and 11 train, it's a mixed bag on whether you'd do the trade in hindsight - 2017 being the most amusing.

l would do a Future 2nd with 2.17 and 18 so long as we got back 1 and 23 but only if North desperately wanted Pick #1..

Then we end up with 1,3,15, 23...or keep what we have and chase either GWS or Geeelong 1st round pick..

At this point it is basically formal AFL policy to review any decision or rule that is seen in any way to benefit North Melbourne.

What a competition of whinging bastards.
Funny thing is, we already benefitted from it, and that can't be taken away from us. So all this whinging is only going to affect their own potential benefits when one of their players leaves for big money.

EDIT: this was meant to be a reply to someone a few posts back.

GWS moved to get Cadman. A player we were unlikely to take with pick 1. But GWS couldn't be sure. You can't gamble to much on hopes at the top end of the draft when there's only one player suitable to your club.

North are moving to get Harley Reid. A player West Coast WILL take if they hold Pick 1 on draft night.

It's more expensive because it isn't trading for the safety of the pick, it's trading for the actual player. Much like north knocking back offers for the pick 1 we took JHF with. Although, we didn't get the level of offers West Coast are receiving and declining.

Pick 2 and 3 will be 3 and 4 on draft night so you should be comparing pick 4s

People need to realise this for what it was. AFL gave us pick 3. They used this years salary to cook the books.

If they were assholes the rule change would've been brought in BEFORE North benefited.

Other than give us a round one PP, what else could they have done this year?

Three picks and generous Mackay compo.

The victim mentality needs to take a breather.

We have Thomas and Zurhaar potentially leaving in the next year or two.

With the CBA increase, I doubt anybody but a legitimate star of the competition will be netting band 1 going fwd.

Afl need to declare as much. "Compo will not be "purchased" by what a panel may deem as buying a higher compensation."

Would any one trade Shez and Wards for N Daicos. Not likley as good as Daicos is. This talk of WC the envy of the comp with apparently the only prized pick in the draft is a laugh. WC will not get pick 2 and 3 for pick 1. We have two prized picks and recent history says they will 200 + gamers plus. Add a likley top five pick next draft and thats 5 top five picks in three years plus Wil Phil. We are not desperate for Reid sadly for WC.

No but I would trade Sam Darcy and Finn Callaghan for Daicos which is a more accurate representation of this year's draft. The best player is Reid and 2nd best is tied to GC so you need to compare the 3rd and 4th best player.

If Sheeze isn't as good as Daicos the difference is minimal. They are very similar players with very similar output after their first season.

IE Sheeze + another player > Daicos and Daicos + another player > Sheeze. Doesn't matter who the player is. Atu for example.
