Banch and Dovaston will make a great small forward combo. Banch and JK look to have come back in super condition, so I don't think it's a done deal that Spargo replaces them. I guess we'll see how that plays out.

And don't forget Cooper Harvey & River Stevens.

Like 2 weeks ago, I thought I wouldn't see NM in another GF. But after Brady's Magic Show on draft night, I've done a 180. He has totally flipped the script. No-one saw that coming. It's gonna taste so sweet being a contender again.

We just (as you well know) could start with looking at removing/delisting those who 1. Can't play 2. Will never be able to play 3. Don't have the physical attributes to be able to play.

It should be simple if these three basic rules are adhered to, I just feel we overcomplicate it a tad.

We are still hopeless at managing list spots, basic draft strategy and finding recycled players who can improve us, but it feels like we finally understand the on-field issues and are trying to address them. Things are looking up.

TBF I reckon Dom Ambrogio, Kinnear Beatson or Graham Wright would also struggle to entice quality recycled players to a team that's been stuck in the bottom three for five years. The lack of traded-in a-graders wouldn't be because they haven't tried to get them.

Cooper "Hardly" once kicked 4 in a game of AFL football. If he decides he wants to do this, he could kick 37 goals next year. The ball should be down there a bit more... I'd back him to kick more than the Banchee at least.

You have to look at that 4th or 5th small/medium role and who/what fits our needs.

It is about identifying the cheap or free ones that you could find a place for because they either fill a hole or suit your gameplan. Hawthorn did this really well with D'Ambrosio, Amon, Ginnevan & Chol. We have had more than 20 tries and the most useful we've found is Toby Pink.

Those deals were fine. We are improving from the days of Atu, Biggie and Menadue. The Sydney boys are good for setting standards and hopefully all become depth soon. They play their roles, just not very well due to their limitations.

There are probably more relevant comparisons, but I’m going to compare our 2025 team to our premiership teams of 1996 & 1999. Yes, the decade when the play was end to end and the goals were plentiful.

For those of you too young, we were regarded as a tough team but we were the top scoring team in both 1996 & 1999.

The top 3 is pretty comparable. It starts to get a bit wobbly with Darling at 1.1, then it totally shits itself after that.

No wonder everyone was crying out for a goal kicking small forward. I was a bit late to the party with that one. We probably need 2 more forwards to contribute goals, plus a goal kicking mid and winger.

So in summary, it looks like we need more goals out of our chf (hopefully Trembath), a couple more small/medium goal kicking forwards (Dovaston & Duursma) and a couple of our mids/wingers to join the party (sheezel, McKercher, FOS).

We are in desperate need of depth to contend. 4 or 5 injuries which is pretty much industry standard and we are relying on ccj, fisher, logue and co. We have about 10 players coming out of contract. Going to need a minimum of 6 afl level players and thats assuming 4 of our untried playes come on, all without losing any best 22. If jye goes that will be another needing coverage. And we are allready behing the 8 ball trading f2

Adding an extra goal per quarter and stoping an extra goal per quarter (harder to quantify) makes you an eight goal better side.

It’s a small change, but a massive difference in results.
