So according to the AFL website, we have 9 players moved on, and only 8 players come in. Assuming JOD is number 9, moving from Cat B to the main list. Which I assume we have a spot open for?

Any idea if we are planning to put Smith on the LTI list and bringing someone in? Anyone training with us at the moment? My guess is we might wait until the mid season draft.

I believe our only spots are Cat B unless we do choose to put Baz on the LTI list. Raak was cat B so didn’t open up a main list spot.

In 2023, we finished the season with 36 main list, 6 Cat A rookies and 2 Cat B rookies (total 44 players).

OUT: Bruce, Hannan, O'Brien, McLean, Crozier, Sweet, Smith (Cat A), McComb (Cat A), Raak (Cat B)
IN: Harmes, Coffield, Sanders, Croft, Freijah, Smith, O'Driscoll, Bramble (Cat A).

Right now, we have 37 main list, 5 Cat A rookies and 1 Cat B rookie (total 43 players).

Duryea and Scott also essentially swapped list spots between the main list and Cat A rookie list. O'Donnell remains on the Cat B rookie list, there is no space for him on the main list given we hold the max 42 players (main list + Cat A rookie list).

Our 1 remaining list spot is a Cat B rookie spot. If we move Smith to the LTI, we can also nab another Cat A rookie through SSP or mid-season draft but that would also rule out any potential late season return if indeed it is on the cards. Without moving Smith (or any other injured player) to the LTI, we wont be participating any further in the SSP or mid-season draft.

Finally, just to add - there are a few websites like Footywire and Draftguru which show the full list, but they have errors (Footywire shows Khamis as a rookie still, Draftguru shows Baker as a main list player). Unfortunately there is no official list shown on the AFL or club website which displays the status of each player so it takes a bit of work to determine with 100% accuracy.

Would you be interested in completing this table? I posted most of it just after the draft but have added two columns at the RHS (Category and Contract End Year) which would be handy info to have. I can add more columns too if anyone wants additional info that either I or someone here can provide.

I'll see if I can open it for general update access (for a short while) or maybe just for you, but you'd need to PM me so I can give your google address the appropriate permission.

Happy to have a crack if you can open it up.

Hearing Baz will sign 2 year extension which will take him through to free agency
That’s by far the best solution for all parties. It gives him some certainty around his immediate future and stops the media conjecture whilst also giving him time to perform and prove his worth for a big time FA contract.

Maybe he could spend his injury time this year sowing his oats. He has played over 100 games hasn’t he?
Jeez, how will we ever find a female attracted to him?

WBFC social media:

"Massive queue outside VUWO, along Barkly St and all the way out to Werribee as Bailey Smith announces intention to procreate. Bulldog officials are making their way along the queue politely asking male fans, and females outside the required demographic, to consider an alternative - and more practical - form of idolatry."

That’s great news, basically what I expected since the day he did his ACL.

As others have pointed out It just makes sense for everyone. In his contract year he’ll have a year of footy under his belt post ACL, likely a wide open run in our midfield and will be able to really put his best foot forward for that big contract.

Will be huge if we re-sign the big 4, a big **** you to the rest of the league and media who can’t believe we have good players 🙄

"Exciting Bulldogs star Bailey Smith was found in a state of total exhaustion in a Williamstown Park early this morning by a passer-by walking his dog. Smith, who is recovering from knee surgery, was assisted back to VUWO where he is reported to be recovering well. 'He's in exceedingly bright spirits' reported club doctor Chris Bell. 'We have put him on a modified rehab program with limited social interaction and expect him to make a full recovery over the coming days' he said."

Perhaps we should change our name to the Western Antechinuses.

"Prior to mating they build up muscle mass with cortico steroids in their bodies ..."

"There is 100% mortality among the sexually active males." FMD.

In reality, we all know Zimmer will ensure Baz delivers like all of Zimmer's other success stories. It's the Bulldog way.

People talk about statues of Bevo, Bont, etc, but we all know our successful f/s production line is due to the tireless efforts of Landsberger (ret.) and Zimmerman. They deserve a statue too! 👏

We’ve all seen the Kissing Booths at Fetes and fairs as Fundraisers….surely the club wouldn’t be opposed to a shagging booth to raise some funds…..

what else is Baz gonna do during rehab?

Think of it as future proofing the organisation….a sexsession plan if you will…..

Of course we’ll need to have proof of patrimony or whatever the term is. And a commitment to bring up the children in the righteous RW&B way.

Maybe it’s a case of “sign here” before you enter the booth?

At least he has his shoes on which is more than can be said for Clayton Oliver.

"The Western Bulldogs have announced a record 100 million dollar profit, to now become the richest club in the AFL. Sources point to a suspicious booth seen at show grounds, as being the leading source, which the club strongly denies. The club has also announced plans to use the money to rebuild Whitten Oval, into an AFL purpose ground like the Cats have. According to the plan, there are extra "ticketing booths" on one side of the ground, which will interestingly be named the Bailey Smith wing"
