Corey Warner..I haven't watched the full replay yet so I'm still not sure. Convince me.

Positives- gets near it and in contests, created opportunities missed 3 shots, good pressure - eg created a 50/50 in the last when we had no one forward of the ball

negatives- missed the goals, sloppy with the ball, bumped off it at times , just looks raw

The bare bones are promising. Also hard to be chucked in early , he looked very nervous after the cunningham hit and the bench told him you are on.

If he plays a few senior games this year it's a win.

Needs to dominate the level down

Horse not happy with the 15 goals conceded

Good

That wasn't a great performance overall.

Arguably a game we lose last year

Not convinced at the moment imo

Right now he is behind every other mid sized player who played last night

Plus Adams, Parker, Mills, Fox, Sheldrick

Not necessarily ahead of anyone else left either , maybe cleary gets a go

Thank you. I'm okay with that for a first gamer.

I think a full game will do him good to be honest, nothing like a trial by fire and a full match intensity to understand what's demanded.

It’s also showing the glaring gap between Brad & Chris Scott. Brad is all over the show and isn’t a patch on his brother Chris. Their footy & coaching styles are so different. Chris Cleary scored the majority of brains of the two at birth.
Chris emphasises strength.
Brad focuses on cheap hits.

He has that bully, chip on his shoulder energy.

Watching the game back, was interesting to see [PLAYERCARD]Jye Caldwell[/PLAYERCARD]'s reaction to Draper running through the back of Lloyd. Clearly wasn't impressed at all.

There's a different between hard and tough footy and "hard and tough footy". You think of Hawthorn in 2013-2015...they were uncompromising and tough with the more than occasional crossing of the line. But at least they had the pedigree and success to back it up. It was a strength for them and clearly suited the coach and players.

In Essendon's sense, if you're going to do that, you better back it up. Was more than happy for our players and staff to cop it last year when we went after Nick Daicos because it backfired spectacularly and wasn't the way to go about it.

Looking forward to that rabble of a club not winning another final anytime soon and wasting top 10 picks on the likes of Nik Cox and then complaining how they're so hard done by.

Oddly Logan spent a good part of the last quarter playing in defence. Hard to kick goals when you're being used as the spare down back

Been his strength his running capacity his field kicking is sublime

Still down on clearances etc which is a disappointment, we'd have wiped them off the board if those stats were in the positive.

I think that was more because Essendon threw Cox forward around halfway through the last quarter. We didn't have a tall enough matchup for him with McCartin, Melican and Rampe already occupied with other talls.

But we still won it. That's what good teams do, win the good and the bad games. I agree that it wasn't a great win, but we did what needed to be done

Oh absolutely that's what I mean sorry

Looking at both incidents this morning, outcome aside, Draper flattening Lloyd is arguably worse than Wright ironing out Cunningham.

Wright had no intent to hurt Cunners. He was trying to make a contest, mucked up horribly and will rightly pay the price. Compare that with Draper who sidestepped his own teammate, was miles late, and absolutely smashed a smaller, defenceless player from behind, Scott's bullshit pre-game rev up no doubt in the back of his mind.

Luckily Lloyd was the least bothered bloke on the ground when it happened but he'd be waking up with a very sore neck today.

Also the midfield taking pressure off that defence the best defence generally has a top 3 midfield
In other words, if you want to improve your defence, improve your midfield, which will then also improve your attack. Effectively get improvement across 3 lines for the price of investing in one.

Could readily fall behind Caleb Mitchell too - who seems primed for a big year at VFL or perhaps occasionally AFL level.

Winner winner chicken dinner. It’s why I’ve been big in getting our midfield fixed first and foremost and having a good ruck helps

Archie Perkins didn’t have a great game last night - but it must be hard having to leave mum for an overnight stay in Sydney. Feel for the bloke.
I assume he would have taken the last flight home so he didn't have to spend the night away from his mum ... and his nan.

To be honest I think McLean was sent in for abit for dragged Grundy. It was a disappointing display from Grundy imo.
Yeah I agree, but in fairness the first quarter team effort was pretty ordinary. I thought Grundy got better at the back end, but in a dose of reality for us swans supporters, there are a lot better opposition ruck combinations and it is still the main weakness for us.

As Mourinho says, sometimes you have to be c**ts. Tbh I don't mind it to a certain extent. I don't think they crossed the line. And to be fair it kept them in the game for longer than their talent could. There was a point we were struggling to contain the heat and they had the game on a knifes edge.
I don't mind it either but don't manufacture it, just be it. Their actual lack of real toughness is well exhibited in the whole peptide thing and their refusal to own it and folding like a deck of cards since it. False bravado shits me to tears. Scum club tbh.
