I like a game like this. It allows the happy clappers and the negative nellie’s to all get a turn to express themselves.

Your expression, however, remains ambiguous and impenetrably difficult to ascertain. Are you an ironic happy clapper perhaps? Or could you possibly be a negative negative Nellie which of course equals a positive? Who are you?I like a game like this. We've beaten 7 of the bottom 8 sides in the comp, Gws and draw with Collingwood. We've done what was needed to give us a platform. Our next 6 weeks will show us exactly where we sit in the pecking order.
I'm sure there will be 'learnings'

no lolDid Shai Bolton get suspended for his sling tackle on Merrett ?
Daniher was not reported?!
Yep we were all worried about what would happen if Dusty and Bolton played at their peak and when they did we still won by a couple of goalsI've seen the game now, and anyone who is complaining about that win needs a reality check.

Excuse me, I've been negative every gameI like a game like this. It allows the happy clappers and the negative nellie’s to all get a turn to express themselves.
Not to mention Richmond finally caving and playing Balta in the backline. Pretty decent backline with him back down there.Yep we were all worried about what would happen if Dusty and Bolton played at their peak and when they did we still won by a couple of goals![]()
Exactly! It did help that Bolton went off start of the final quarter.Yep we were all worried about what would happen if Dusty and Bolton played at their peak and when they did we still won by a couple of goals![]()
Can’t find a link but I saw before that Tapping said after the game that ‘conditions presented a real challenge for us and we took a while to adapt’.
Would that be the zero wind and no rain night game at the MCG we play at least 7 times a year? Those conditions?
Cold? Is he talking about the temperature?
Was at the game and have now watched the replay.
I think people are just mad we didn't win by 100 points.
I'd rather a tough win over opponents not showing up every day of the week.
Look I'm as weary as anyone else that we're going to come crashing down the ladder, to the point that I'm even finding it a bit hard to enjoy wins...It's not about just beating X team by 100 points, it's a much wider view than that.
People thinking this was a "good win" are not seeing the wood for the trees and what it means.
We barely beat West Coast, only had 1 good quarter against North, and now only just beaten Richmond, with basically a VFL team playing. Essendon simply cannot score and it is alarming.
As improved as our defence is, our AVG score is ~84 points. That is terrible. We are 9th on the ladder for scoring and we have played most of the bottom teams. Our scoring is a MASSIVE issue and it needs to be fixed urgently.
If people want to swallow copeium with "oh well take the win" than whatever but the body of work against the 3 worst sides in the comp should be screaming alarm bells for us. The reality is that we are not playing anywhere near a top 4 side and we are going to get exposed very very quickly if it isnt turned around.
We have seen this story before, literally last year we were 5th on the ladder at Round 17 last year, and got exposed.
Look I'm as weary as anyone else that we're going to come crashing down the ladder, to the point that I'm even finding it a bit hard to enjoy wins...
But I also think, despite not playing amazing footy, we're winning in a pretty honest way, digging in at every contest, matching physicality, defending ... we're certainly not just playing like a bunch of front runners, which is the type of footy that gets easily found out.
There will certainly be losses coming our way. We're not the second best team in the comp, despite our place on the ladder.
However, the way we win games, I actually think it's just as likely that we will be the one that exposes teams that don't grit their teeth on the day.
It is far from the finished product, but I think we're building a brand of footy that will do more than just smash lesser teams.
What do you suggest we do then?that's fine if the teams you are scraping wins over are generally around you on the ladder.
scaping wins against West Coast, Richmond and North (except 1 qtr) is a massive issue.
There is nothing gritty about barely beating a team with half a VFL squad in. Its utterly alarming. We are finding excuses to justify wins over shit opposition. That is just copium and denial and to fair, current Essendon culture where we will take anything given.
This is screaming a reoccurrence of last year. When we barely beat West coast and North. Then we absolutely imploded and lost to GWS and Collingwood by a combined 200 points the following 2 weeks.
There's a Suns board?Suns board not confident for next week.
All the games from here on are no certainty (not sure any have been really given the evenness of the comp) but Ess has exceeded my expectations already from bringing a more physical and mentally present game style which is not only getting results (wins and ladder position) but it’s also building nicely for 2025 and beyond. I think it’s been labelled EDGE.
What do you suggest we do then?

Weird how you just keep overlooking that game wedged in between the eagles and north game.that's fine if the teams you are scraping wins over are generally around you on the ladder.
