What happened to our club the last few years under his and Sloane's leadership. I don't think either are anywhere near the 'club first' people espoused by the media/fans. And there's the continuing support of out of form senior buddies ahead of giving in form kids a crack that sits poorly with me. I think the club will be much better off as soon as Tex, Sloane, Smith and Laird are gone from the club. I cannot fathom how supporters can look at the toxic playing culture that developed and not apply any responsibility to the very clear and obvious leaders of the day.
ok thanks for your response. fair to say i see things very differently. so many variables go into a successful period at a club and Tex has been unlucky to be here for a very unsuccessful second half of his career after finals in 2008, 2009,2012,2015, 2016 and 2017 (didnt check if he played all finals in early years but do remember him being BOG - 'the difference' Bruce said - when we beat Freo in the semi in 2012)

will agree to disagree here as we wont ever find common ground or thinking - which is cool. and I am not sure Tex should be lumped in with others also - he is his own man

ps toxic culture - probably fair call in many ways at different times - but to blame Tex for that when so many other entitled Snr players, Pykes aloofness, Birdbrain etc - seems pretty unfair to me

That is a weird rant.

My God! Some of these player agents look like absolute flogs..
"At the Connors Stable we wear tight black jeans, clumpy white sneakers... and our top two buttons don't exist" 🙈

So, trade preiod wrap up looks to be:

Still have pick 4 and Welsh to go. Making it five new players to the list, three to four of whom will impact next year. Yes, I’d like to have had another late/ rookie pick. But would we have done that without these trades, or just kept Hamill/ Parnell? Lots of picks for next year, although most speculative, to refresh before Tassie comes in.

Hard not to be ecstatic with this trade period.

Reid said he’s happy with the ruck stocks as ROB, Strachan, RT and Toby Murray just before on Trade Radio. I guess he can’t say anything else publicly this point, but the club is absolutely going hard after Sam Draper as a FA next year.

Gives me some hope though that we might see Turray with more ruck time next year.

Reid was non-committal about Welsh l, said we haven’t committed to him yet and will talk to his family what that looks like. Ie get to the rookie list and we will pick you
Still think we take him, but with a pick in the 60s. I’m guessing we have stayed non committal incase a far earlier bid came and we get wind of that over the next couple of weeks, which we probably aren’t matching.

Don't mind the 3 ins, should put immediate pressure on spots in the 18 next season.

Still finding it hard to fathom for a list with so much crap left on it we go into a 'super' draft with the intent of using just one pick (+ our father/son), this part of our list management has been below par.

Or in simple terms, we swapped 2 speculative picks this year for 3 guarantees and swapped a second next year for an early (?) third, late (?) third and late (?) fourth.

Guy on the ABC blog just posted this:

Bolton fun fact! Shai becomes the first Docker to have a dad that also played for the Dockers. Darren played 2 games in 99. Freo's only player taken through the F/S system was Brett Peake whos dad Brian played 296 games for East Fremantle and was eligible under the concession given to the Dockers when they entered the league. Go well Shai!

Have the Crows had a player's son line up in the tri-colours yet? I know we had a Jarman Jr. on the list, but I'm pretty sure he never played an AFL game.
I guess Welsh will be the first if/when he gets an AFL call up.
Not sure if James Rowe has been mentioned

I'm not unhappy with that.

They'll have a number in mind where they wont match a bid

Surely not as we don't have a decent 2nd pick nor spare list spots.

If there's a much better player available on the talent list when a bid comes it'll be a tough call
Which is why we should delist a player to give us flexibility.

Getting back future picks seemed to be very important to us, might be on the cards
We could easily delist Burgess or Smith before the draft, to give us the option of taking a player between pick 4 & Welsh, by trading back in.

If we don't, then we upgrade Keane & relist Burgess or Smith.

Why trade back in and not have done that and kept 43 in a quality draft?

Really that’s an ordinary move no one should be defending.

Gather because we were not intending to use it.

I don't see it as a big deal.

My main concern now is ruck cover.
