I’m pumped.

Hard not to be. From 1991 - 2018 we had a total of 4 top 10 draft picks in that 27 year period.

We now have 6 top 10 draft picks on our list.

Trying not to get ahead of myself, but this season has real 2012 vibes about it.

What do you think Peatling is ? .....have you not watched any games of his ?

You don't think Rankine isn't an inside Mid .....or Draper ....or Curtin ......oh cmon
Rankine, Draper and Peatling aren't first possession mids who feed the ball out, they're the burst players you feed the ball too.

Curtin could be, but hasn't ever played the role at the top level so he's not ready to go yet. He needs time

You haven't seen much of them have you ??

That's exactly what they are. They shark the taps and burst from a stoppage.

They don't NEED anyone to give them the ball

A few of you make way too much of this. After 100 centre bounce stoppages attended, Matt Crouch clearance win average is;

1. Behind Jones, Keays, Dowling and Schoenberg. Happy to ignore this though as off low number of events.
2. 0.5 behind Peatling
2. 1.6 per 100 more than Rankine
3. 2.1 more than Laird
4. 2.3 more than Soligo
5. 2.5 more than TT

He's not that far ahead in any area that suggests he's pivotal and our win/loss record supports this. If he's not there, someone else will replace him and not bring the same limitations. Lots of posters were the same with Thommo in 2016, saying if he's not playing we lose the clearances and tackles he brings. When we finally stopped playing a slow accumulator who solely worked from stoppage to stoppage, we made a GF.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve a chance and as part of the right mix may be a better option than next up, but if he was to walk away from the game today, the impact on our season is most likely to be minimal.

As I said in the ladder predictor, I fully intended to have us in the 8, but I think the end result was 10th again. The middle 10-12 are hard to place. I'll be surprised if 2 of GWS, Lions and Sydney aren't top 3 with Roos, Eagles and Tigers at other end. Saints I think are in trouble but after that, nothing will surprise me.

Yep - hard to have confidence that the coaches can get the expected performance from the list.

Hopefully Davis has a significant impact in this regard.

im mindful not to expect too much due to the age of Curtin, Draper but the list has no excuses anymore not to push for finals. We have experience and a glut of players entering their prime, experience wise. so we should actually be super competitive for the best part of the next decade.

1997-2007 only missed finals in 1999, 2000, 2003 2004. Needed a few more premierships in that decade.

to be fair we were in a weird triangle. West Coast could beat us but we had Sydneys measure. Same in 2006. Just the weird fate. Where as Sydney could beat the Eagles where we failed. It was a weird problem. Good news though I think in 2028 we might have solved this issue.

Desperate for content today, I discovered this Dan Jackson interview (sorry if posted previously) I found it worth a listen (he's a pretty impressive customer) Gives a bit of an insight into some things, notably a few of the baffling decisions from last year ie: 8 Man Leadership, Rash Omission, Murphys Selection.

I cant get to the end of this... lots of talking without saying anything, does it get any better?

Why are you so ridiculously insulting to posters when you disagree with them?

Honestly, it really makes you sound like an arseh*le.

Most traditional midfield set ups have a player exactly like Crouch, who's responsibility is to gather and feed it to the burst player.

It's very rare during a game that someone just gathers the tap and immediately bursts from a contest. It looks amazing when it happens, but you can't rely on it because it normally means the opposition hasn't got their defensive setups correct, and you can't always rely on an opposition just being shit.

Crouch will play and get game time as a true inside mid. He's far and away our best clearance player.

You started the jinx.

The start of your username went and captained another club within 18 months of you joining.
Haha, I still have 3 guns of our club who were important parts of our premiership sides.

But he actually isn't that far ahead of the rest. We still win our share of clearances when he's not there.
