I have to say congrats to the hawthorn faithful. Massive turnout for family day and centenary celebrations. Well done to the club for organising it. I know even they were surprised by the numbers. Setting up the expectations. All that is left is for the boys to deliver. As Jordan Lewis who was with his 4 boys during the jumper presentation said when asked. "Top 4 should be the aim. Isn't that what we do here." Yes Jordan we sure do.

The season can't come fast enough

I reckon i've seen significantly more hawthorn gear out and about this summer than ever before

Watched the Sat morning match sim delightful morning watching the boys having a really good crack not holding anything back. The niggling and skirmishes behind play stood out and not sure if it was a directive by the coaches to make it as uncomfortable out there for each other or it’s just because of the environment that’s been created with competition for spots available but it was evident. This year I reckon we will see more of the unsociable Hawks that we have been accustomed to when we play our best football. From the Wiz having a go at basically anyone he didn’t care from Weds to Frost which was hilarious……. at one stage Frost just rolled him over and sat on top of him like, “have you finished yet” 😂. The Wiz is feisty as they come! Love him. At one stage Dimma was copping some very close attention from Serong didn’t like it and started doing some hard elbows into him but Serong did’nt let up. Serong has matured and has got a bit of nasty/hard edge about him. Newcombe got tackled and got pinned holding the ball and could hear Worps from 40 metres away yelling/giving it to him. Sis went nuts a couple times for players not manning up properly with a couple of easy hit up’s into the forward line or when he moved forward was ignored leading. It was brilliant to watch and a good hit out for the real stuff in a few weeks time.

At the end of each quarter I was swapping ends in order to closely watch the forwards. Our small forwards put on a show. Watching Ginni, Moore and the Wiz working together and linking up ….. I am confident that this group (throw in Croc who was on the sidelines) will become one of the best small forward groups in the comp. Ginni kicked 3/4 but sat out last quarter, Moore is built like a tank geez he is a solid unit up close and his pressure/never give up attitude always makes things happen and the Wiz …… he did a couple of inspirational tackles and smothers where he was horizontal in the air! They all do the hard work the 1% and then when we get the ball they are all clever and unselfish enough to look for the best option available to goal. Chol could have kicked 4/5 dropped a couple of sitters. But a massive strength that Chol brings to the table is that if he doesn’t mark it he brings it to ground to our quality small forwards ….. he rarely gets out marked! Noticed coaches telling Ramma to play up higher. Throw in Gunners, Dimma, Siss etc …… even without Dear and Lewis I think we still have the firepower to score 100 points most weeks 🤞

Was worried Newk and Wiz both limped at times after incidents but they played out the game which was great to see. Not long now Go Hawks!

Wasn’t sure where to post this, but it was good to see all Jordan’s boys with the number 3 and “LEWIS” on their backs.

Does anyone know why barass wasn’t at the family day today?
He hates the name norm, and realises if he stays he might get a Norm Smith medal, so he's gone back to west coast.

Some of my amateur photos from today's Family Day.

Yourself and Newmo89 make a great combo. Newmo with their journalistic vocabulary and yourself with your photography. It’s joyful to both see and read. With you two it’s like Roughie and Cyril, Dunstall and Derm, Mitchell and Crawf, Hodgie and Birchall. All so complex yet smooth and very satisfying.

Quick training today-11th February.
More of stretching, handballing and kicking drills.
Channel 10 and Herald Sun media are present.

Calsher participated in all the drills, but nothing much to be excited yet as today’s sessions are short(and light).

Meeky got interviewed by Channel 10 and was asked about the pressure being the #1 ruck, pressure to the Hawks being the favourite this year. Some questions asking about Will Day, Lewis, The Wiz etc. I don’t know if they will show the whole interview in the TV.

Croc told me that he got a sore knee that’s why he did not participate in the match sim last Saturday.

Sic told me that Tom Barrass is getting married that’s why he’s not in the training today and not in that Family Day last Sunday.

The fact he’s involved in light skills is a great update.

Worrying signs, starting to question his commitment to the club.
