I tried to watch it once and safe to say I’d rather watch golf, and that’s saying something.

I am not saying it’s complete 💩 but I would rather have my nuts put in a vice and have someone give it half a turn to tighten it every 30 minutes, than watch a game of NFL.

And today we got yobbo golf?

$500 bucks a ticket to watch 11 minutes of game time.

Sounds like good value.
And that 11 minutes is utter garbage. What an utterly stupid sport, from the people who brought you "diapers", "gray", "color" and "math".

Gowers was on SEN during the week. He was asked if we might host a game in Tas v Devils. His answer was that hosting them in Launceston ‘has a lot of legs’ and ‘playing the Devils in their first game, at the new stadium makes sense’.

He was also asked what would we do with the other three games. He said ‘the first thought is the MCG. We may look at Marvel or elsewhere’.

He made clear that on field performance/success be the overriding factor in any decision.

It sounds like any decision is a long was off.

Also, we had 7,500 Tas members in 2024.

I would love us to play the Devils in their first game at the new stadium.

Please not marvel I hate that place

It certainly won’t be a home game for anyone other than the Devils. Gowers is dreaming there.
You might want to read the post again.

According to the post, Gowers said “hosting them in Launceston”

Then a different comment was “playing the Devils in their first game, at the new stadium makes sense”

It was my post so I don’t need to re-read it. You might want to track down the interview, When asked if we would host home games v Devils, the answer was Launceston ‘has legs’ but so does playing them in Hobart also makes sense.

My interpretation of his words were that we might host them at Launceston until the new stadium is ready, but that we would consider moving that game to Hobart.

He mentioned many times that the main factor is on field advantage, so I don't see a long term future hosting a team at their home ground in another state. Once they start beating us down there, we will get the hell out.

Also no mention of Cairns. Unless a miracle happens and they receive an upgrade for the Olympics, I can’t see us ever playing games there.

This is already in the works:

That is a totally unfunded bit of clickbait from the AFL. The plan is to upgrade Barlow Park, for the Olympics and the Cowboys NRLW team. They are highly unlikely to spend significant government monies on a privately owned stadium like Cazaly’s.

Gale does not want to share the state with Hawthorn – who have won close to 75 per cent of their games in Launceston since 2001 – beyond 2027 and believes the Hawks’ latest multi-million deal with the government should be its last.

Although Hawthorn’s leaders have repeatedly left the door open to continuing the club’s lucrative long-term partnership with Launceston, Gale said: “At some stage, a line has to be drawn. My preference would be that we are the Tasmanian Devils and it’s our home”.

“They [the Hawks] have had a long and successful relationship with Tasmania. They’ve been good for the stadium, and they’ve been good for business,” he said. “But Tasmania has been really good for Hawthorn too. Ultimately, it will be a decision for the government and the board, but my wish is that there has to be a time when that comes to an end.”

Is Tassie ever actually going the build the stadium that is supposedly the non negotiable requirement for them to join the comp?

Could it be that Gowers stating hawks would help, establish new team, Gale is not open to that.

The only reason I see for Tassie to continue with hawks home games there is to help finance the stadium. One more hawks game in launnie me and a Tassie game can be transferred to hobart

It's being thoroughly accessed by the state planning commission process right now. That should be complete second half of 2025. If commission is happy with everything will then go Tasmanian parliament for tick of approval and all going well (we are dealing with politicians after all) stadium build will get under way asap.

Cairns? Definitely worse, but I can’t see us playing there. Venue is substandard, they won’t be able to pay us much, and playing there will sap the players for the following week.

Will be more game here in Melbourne. Watch our crowds and membership grow.
