Hutchy not a winger, get him in the midfield to work with Graham and play hunt and dewar on the wings. Can’t see how they don’t think Dewar is a top 23 player in the team, had potential to be a top 5 player for us.

Flynn grew into the game. Once he stopped putting his hands around Xerri after losing front position he did a passable job.

HEdwards was a star.

Im more in the play AReid over JWilliams but JW would’ve kicked both of those goals. Feel for who ever misses out. You’d hope JW or AR is next man over BW if we get an injury.

Geez need that link man. Warner + Sheldrick would be very nice.

Dewar might of sadly played himself into the sub role. Would love him off hbf.

Duggan taken out of the CBAs in the last quarter for Hutch.

Brockman looked the most likely x Cripps might be in some trouble.

Still too early a call I guess but I’ve been calling for Archer to become a defender since last year because his set shot kicking is very poor. I know it can be repaired to an extent, but can it for 2 metre players?

Just get the feeling he’ll be a Hipwood type his whole career. Where players almost don’t want to kick to him because he’s always got the yips.

Getting monstered by North's mids shouldn't have been too big of a shock considering that got like 8 top 5 picks running through there..but Christ do we need Yeo back or Hewett in there to give them a lift.

I don't think we got any significant injuries so I'll take that over actually winning the game.

Stats are pretty indicative of what we're trying to do. Will prob come off second best in possessions but look to score off turnover. Didn't see any backwards kicks or switching the play and plenty of forward hand balling.View attachment 2238118
Tigers disposals ranking during their four year threepeat.

2017: 15th
2018: 14th
2019: 11th
2020: 12th

Still not overly convinced by the watchability of surge it forward rugby style Richmond ball, but worth remembering how successful they were while their stats sheet looked like that. Something to monitor.

I'd rather have your game in order, and to focus on finishing than to be having to get your entire game in order and be living off efficiency, yes.

Every club would. 11 inside 50's in a half of footy just doesn't cut it for any team.

Okay so missed the second half, heading home to watch it.

Yes it'd be lovely to be leading every stat, including scoring, but i would say we are very much still a work in progress adjusting to what McQualter wants.

Secondly the stats and territory game are all well and good, but perhaps that points to a team over using the ball?

Let's just take a little confidence boost from the win and maybe not read too much into a preseaaon match.

This isn't hit or miss. If North weren't absolute garbage they would be 10 goals clear. St Kilda were awful today and they would be keen stomping us if they had this dominance.

Their dominance of possession is overwhelming. They have double our i50 and double our marks i50.

North are terrible. Never forget this.

Jeepers mate, couldn't even save your pants shitting for the real stuff.

Feel like we grew into that game a lot, and I feel like this will be like our season as we adjust to a new game plan.

But boy we look really good on the run and feel this suits our forward set up much more.

There was a stat through the 3rd on the AFL app that we hadn’t kicked backward once. Amazing change in philosophy in one pre-season.

I find these games really hard to really assess because of the wind making ball movement difficult against the breeze. But felt post quarter time we evened things up significantly.

One thing is quite clear in my mind though. Dewar has to start; he just makes things happen.

You play like you train. If I don't want to blow an O-ring in the first few rounds I have to do the work now.

Umm that was a terrible game to watch...

Midfield completely shit... Duggan and Graham no skills or awareness... Reid going though the motions...

Forwards excellent... McGovern and Edwards good... Baker and hoff excellent...

Flynn better than Williams but still terrible...

Takeay is that might as play Gross and Hall in the guts... Guys in there have no idea... And we are going to get slaughtered in 2 weeks

-They were putrid in the first half.
-Things got better in the 2nd half.
-There were bits and pieces of good play on an inconsistent basis that lends itself to an idea that there is something to build off.
-We're trying to build a sustainable brand of footy. That can't mean 11 I50's in a half of footy. It just can't.
  • Winning is great. Pre-season games are important to clubs at the bottom of the ladder. Being able to practice close finishes at the end is good practice.
  • The first half was really a waste of everybody's time.

I can’t remember a game where Larkey didn’t dominate us
Second game last year (which we won).

He didn't get his usual arm chair ride with umps and we actually had some talld defenders available instead of injured. Suddenly he looked like to bog average forward that he actually is.

Our leaders Duggan, Kelly, Baker with some shocking foot skills. Particularly disappointed with Kelly. Our best mid can't hit a target inside 50 to save his life. What's the point of a mid who wins the ball and then immediately turns it over?

Dewar and Brockman need to be starting 22. Harley Reid needs to learn to be more of a team player, same as last year still trying to look flash instead of facilitating the best result for the team.

On the plus side loving the commitment from Owies Baker and Graham, I'm firmly in the camp that trading for these guys was a great move. They're showing the rest of the list a hard contested edge we've been sorely missing.

Harry Edwards was absolutely brilliant. Really happy with how he's tracking.

Well good news because we did actually win the game.

Mcgovern absolutely monstered him in that game and won just about every 1v1
