I just went through the list and while there are a 3-4 like John Rantall who I know little/nothing about every single other 300 gamer is a far superior player to Jack Darling.

There many who said Kade Simpson was the worst when he cracked the 300. (I disagreed).

Older (much older) fans have said Sam Newman actually got by being a pretty average player in his day.

Shane Edwards played over 300 as a role player if we're being honest.
Averaged under 17 disposals for his career and kicked the same amount of goals as Paul Puopolo.

Everyone has shit going on in their personal lives but we still have jobs to do

Goodwin should of just said - “yer max had an off day but there’s another 21 players who also didn’t come to play, it’s a team game”

Here is something controversial I know it is, but I truly believe it.

Bulldog supporters screaming at umpire bias for the Collingwood side is the ultimate irony. According to a lot here and especially Sydney supporters they won a premiership from biased umpiring. We had a lot of the Bulldog supporters explain away the reasons why they got those free kicks. In the end they are wrong Sydney's players lost the grand final and the bulldog players lost their game against Collingwood. Umpires are the easiest targets for desperate supporters trying to find answers for their loss.

Seeing the Kangas demolish Melbourne on the weekend reminded me a lot of when the young Dees ran over us in round 20 2016. (The first time they had beaten us since 2006.)

Don't get that vibe. We were still a pretty good side in 2016. Melbourne were one spot off bottom four year with no real list improvement aside from drafting youth.

If North manage to belt a side like Fremantle or Carlton I'll be impressed.

I think Goodwin just wanted to defend Max after a poor performance and as sometimes happens when speaking off the cuff in front of microphones and cameras you can stumble on what you're trying to say.

All he needed to say is "Max wasn't at his best, and had a very good opponent. We all know how good Max can be and i'm sure we will see that again soon."

Instead he went with making an excuse for him when it wasn't needed. Players aren't always at their best, things happen in their lives that affect this, but it doesn't matter.

I got 2nd hand cringe listening to Goodwin trying to get gawn excuses and also over sharing private details.

He cost them the game the week before too. Shooting Bambi

How would he be in their top 25% paid players? Treloar bont English libba dale JUH Darcy naughton lobb(to get him across) Williams.
Oh my, I just got your meaning...

In AFL, a restricted free agent (RFA) is a player with 8+ years service to their club, who is in the top 25% of wage earners, while an unrestricted free agent (UFA) is a player with 8+ years service who is outside the top 25% or has 10+ years service.

Ed was recruited in 2017 at pick 16 which gives him 8 Years at the end of the 2025 season. There are a max of 38 players at each AFL club. That means that the top 25% of wage earners are the top (38 x 0.25 =) 9.5 players which is rounded down to 9 players. You mentioned 10 in your post. I'm guessing Ed Richard's wage is ahead of Bailey Williams.

Whatever happens, making the dogs pay more for Richard's weakens their depth.

If I’m not mistaken, it’s outside top 25% in the final year of their contract.

A player could have had a heavily front ended contract that then leaves them as a young UFA on technicality.

I believe that’s how James Frawley ended up an UFA too.

There are rules within rules. Does that mean that the final year of the Darcy's contract in 2029 could be on minimal money and so he is considered outside the top 25% earners? If so, that is rediculious.

I would have thought it was based on what each player was paid in 2025

But if the Bont got paid huge money in 2020 and now is outside of the 25%... I can see your idea works

I don’t think that’s controversial tbh.

I’m surprised Sydney fans made that much of a ruckus about the umpiring that game we still talk about it to this day. For every 2016 GF there’s another 30 games like that per year.

I reckon I forget about the umpiring of a game a good 14 days after it happens if we get reemed, although the umpiring in some of those Geelong/Hawks blockbusters used to make my blood boil. I forgot how bad some where, even watching them back i get angry

Lol have u seen the game day threads of every team. Dominated by umpiring discussion

I am guessing Jake made it to the Melbourne media briefing that was off the record in the MCC rooms, an article in reply? This article is some sort of attempt to explain it all away... Goodwin meant well through '"love" (please), he was trying to do something as a better coach after club 'learnings' from when the Trac told them they left him livid (my article summary).

It doesn't mean you breach private information. Consent of the ill person and Max to a lesser degree but the public face of it. It is a misfire, MFC have not let Goodwin learn at all.

Some sort of joke to end the article... "On the whole, if the Demons have learnt anything about the past 18 months, it is that it is preferable to care too much for each other than too little, and not to be afraid of coming clean about what’s under the hood."

It is nothing to do with the Demons, the ill person is connected to but not an employee and not part of internal processes such as a camp with "truth-telling session". Whoever chose those words are appropriating...

It was a boneheaded move. No other way to describe it. And now they are in the stage of trying to dig their way out of the hole they have dug. But, as Chilli Palmer said to Harry Zimm in the vastly underrated movie Get Shorty. “Harry, look at me. You're trying to tell me you f***ed up without sounding stupid, and that's hard to do.”

What depth 🤷‍♂️

This is more information than Goodwin gave away.

You are currently my greatest source of knowledge for what is going on with Max Gawn.
Oh gosh, you have made me second guess myself and what I heard... Josh Gabelich this morning said it, "an illness in the family". SEN podcast 2 minute mark.

So just between you and me Lizard... and the world.

[I really like Gabelich, comes across as a super pro, seems very trusted.]

I want this on the record, DogDaySonny thought what I wrote was okay. Nice movie reference.

Hope you are well. ;)

This is very well thought out by the club, away games as well. The people seeing it through on the day and supporting have their own disabilities. Perhaps not the first ones but still a good program. Is Joe Ingles a Hawk fan? Google him from the other day...

Sure is, think he wore the number 2 at Utah as a tribute to Roughy
