Sweids kicking issue is he tends to loop a few kicks. Nothing serious in his action and have seen him kick quite a few clever short passes of the inside and outside of the boot. He does have a bit of a skill set. He just needs to get the loopy kicks from his game which could be an issue.
Personally have not seen much of an issue with his transition to outside game. Like you say he is not super quick. He fits in the just above average in my view.
He is also very strong and holds out bigger opponents at stoppage.
Hard to say how much improvement is in him but he has taken massive leaps this year. Gone from rookie draft range to 25 - 40 range.
171cm is not ideal for sure but if he comes in the 30 - 50 range I do not mind him.
Obviously Championship series will tell a bit more.
Whatever happens he will be picked after our first round picks or he will be a pick coming in after a trade so we will not be relying on him to be an absolute A grade player. Simply a hard competitor.
Isn’t he 175
And Huss is 171

Is he a better prospect than Hobbs?

Very similar other than he probably has a bit better outside game. Although he is a few cm shorter he looks to be a bit more powerful than Hobbs at the same stage but there is not much in it. He is very close to what Hobbs is.

If Luke Jackson wants to come back to VIC won't say no

Luke Jackson would be terrible

Would cost a top 5 pick

exactly this

Sweid for all his ball winning is a short inside mid who tackles well and competes hard. Kicking isn't a strong suit and whilst he has fast hands, seems to not be great at going inside to outside which may get caught at the next level.

El-Achkar on the hand is quick for a small fwd, tackle numbers could obviously be better but he has a willingness to get his hands dirty and is getting lots of shots on goal, albeit with poor finishing

When you read those two, one has a ceiling that could be anything, the other has a ceiling capped at Kane Lambert (which is no slouch, he was first name that came to mind - as a good/bad result)
Compare Adam Sweid and Dion Prestia
Very similar body types and playing styles
If Adam is half as good you would be pleased

He gave up on him on the next year too though. Terrible judgment from dodo
The most unqualified list manager ever.
The gall of him to sue our footy club.
His life membership should be revoked.
I saw him at the Xavier v Carey game and I laughed to myself as I never saw him at a school game in May when he worked for the bombers.

I think Essendon re signs Draper to a conservative 3 year deal. Draper plans to cash in on fa in 3 years time, hopefully by the second season he is nearly back to full flight. If Adelaide are still interested and we can get band 1 I would take it instead.

I really feel that Bryans game might be more affected by his knees more than Drapers injury.

Bryan relies on his athleticism to get from contest to contest, his ability to bend down and pick the ball and give handballs. If he is not the same athletically, and is cautious with his knee in terms of physicality I can’t see him being very effective for us. He will also be looking for his first big deal.

If we can get a second for him I’d take it.

It’s a horrible situation for them and our team, but in the end id rather lose them than sign either to long term deals.

Not blowing smoke up your arse, but that was an insightful post 👍

Edit (joke that I just thought of)
‘now I’ll send some smoke signals!’

Probably not funny, but I’m easily amused so… 😬

Yes. Zorko type strong.

What's 4cm between friends :p:p
Interesting you mention Zorko as that’s who he triggers for me when watching him. Movement is very similar. Obviously Zorko has that beautiful kick but Sweid has a skill/movement profile that could slide through a few positions and not just be pigeonholed as a small mid.

I’d happily get Luke Jackson than say draft CDT, nothing against him I think he’ll be a star. But he’s 4/5 years away from becoming a solid afl player.
And were 4-5 years away from doing anything.... again, unfortunately

I also dont think were taking CDT unless hes worlds ahead, but then hes going top 2 where we dont have a pick

Personally dont want a Ruck with a top 5 pick

We will take a mid type or KPF at the top end

I don’t think we are 4-5 years away from doing stuff, are you saying from being a flag contender? A top 4 contender or a perennial top 6 team. It all depends on are youngsters if players like caddy, Reid, Roberts etc keep coming along in leaps and bounds the wheel can turn pretty quickly. Obviously having a lti epidemic currently doesn’t help.

If we had a mid season trade period we might have been able to pinch a 3rd rounder for shiel for a contending team which would have benefited both us and shiel as he can still play well in the midfield.

Setterfield and Hobbs can be retained as best 18-25 players as both apply much needed pressure but a club like stkilda may come for Hobbs?

It is looking more likely we’ll end with a pick between 8-10 with our own pick but melbourne’s should still be close to 5.

It’s good to have some cover though, need another mature body for z6 months at least.

Do we?

I’d rather play Goldstein / Visentini for the remainder, everything I know of Crossley says he’s not a long term guy so it seems pointless in a year where we’re not contending for anything.

Still got Gerryn, Wright, McKay and even Cox if we really have to play someone there in a pinch.

I’d rather we look for a longer term prospect, whether that’s a ruckman or otherwise.

Yes we do, so if goldy goes down injured, needs a rest we are a ruck short. Big ask aswell to get vigo ruck the rest of the year in the vfl without much support. It would only be a 6 month contract. With the amount of bigs going down it would be silly not to get some cover now we get that chance.

As long as Crossley never plays 1st ruck over Vigo at VFL level and only chops out when absolutely necessary

This is the most important part.

Crossley will want to prove himself and make a career out of this, you reckon he’ll want to share duties? It is a trap.
