Hot Topic Michael Voss - Coaching in 2026. Should he remain beyond that?

Q3 epitomises everything

+20 in contested possession
+6 in clearances
+5 in i50
+ In a bunch of individual statistics

Culminates in losing the quarter by a goal.

Player errors 👍
Player confusion 👍

The same errors and confusion every week? 👍

Horrible i50s? 👍

This team seems to be defined by panic.

Before the round:

Top 3 in all of contest, defense and transitional footy

But

Dead last in scores per inside 50.

You've got Harry and Charlie in that f50

Poo
Been the same fir last 20 games
I50s are killing us..coaches carnt fix it so them move them on

Voss won't be getting sacked though.

They will allow him to see out his contract till end of next year.

After that, short of a miracle, he will not get renewed.

The reality is, these blokes haven't got what it takes.

The leaders aren't able to step up when we need them...

We have too many players on 800k-1M+ and they don't perform anywhere near consistently enough.

No TDK and we've likely only won 2 games to this point... let that sink in... that is how bad we are.

Unless Wright declares that he wants to give Voss one year under his tenure (which I doubt), Voss’ bags will be packed by the end of the year. Far too many rumblings and poor performances.

Maybe but I just doubt it.

Any new coach who comes in this year will have the delusional "selection panel" we put together believing that this playing group is capable of winning a flag... they aren't.

The media are starting to focus on us.

If they turn on Voss they won’t stop until they get their man.
It has all the hallmarks of the dumpster fire first half of 2023 - we are going to play essendon again in round 13 and we again will enter that game with just 4 wins.

Blues stats in 7 loses

Minus 11 disposals per game

Minus 1.5 clearances per game

Plus 5 contested possession per game

Plus 0.5 marks per game

Plus 6 inside 50s in total

Minus 27 goals in total

Blues inside 50 efficiency 38.58
Oppo 48.13

Blues score a goal 16.90% of time they enter 50
Oppo 24.65%..which is league aversge

If Blues even just matched opp in this last stat they would be 25 points better off per game

They have lost 5 of their 7 games by less than this

It's not rocket science

Longmire and I've really no idea to be truthfully honest.
I keep going to cancel my membership and various mates in Wa take the piss as I'm weak.
Cant stomach to watch this team.

I cancelled the roll-over for this year, and they have called me about 10 times. The last time I answered and had a convo about what I was waiting for. Almost renewed after the Cats game, but opted to wait. Can't see me wanting to do it just for the continuation satisfaction.

I'm a single parent now with 100% care of a daughter. Things get pricey for an almost teenager in high school. Way better things to spend my membership donation on.

Interesting that we were keen on Voss as far back as 2019: https://www.afl.com.au/news/133597/...c-process-inside-story-of-carltons-coach-call

After Teague was sacked, It felt like a two horse race between Voss and Lyon. Wasn’t too fond of either, both now looking pretty mediocre. Kingsley was interviewed and in hindsight, would have been the much better pick.

I think a loss to the eagles might see Voss turfed out soon after. Hopefully hamill and Russell go as well.

IF we decide to move in Voss (I don’t think we will until end of year if at all) it has to be part of many changes in Football Department.

I have doubts about Voss but it’s more than just him IMO

I've had my fair share of criticism toward Voss...

But one thing I refuse to believe is that he is responsible for weak, gutless efforts or basic skill blunders from senior players.

I want Voss gone and haven't said otherwise for a long time but even I don't want him sacked midseason.

And I agree it;s more than just him but I just don't understand why, if our assistants are so bad, we keep appointing them. Is Vossy just comfortable being comfortable?

Vossy week to week just wants to keep 'getting after it'...he just doesn't know what 'it' is unless we all accept it is the next stoppage.

It sounds like Lloyd signed up all the assistants to multi year deals following 2023. We had no flexibility to make changes to the assistants at the end of last year. Lloyd should be the first gone and by the length of the Flemington straight.

Are you guessing this or have you heard something, If true then I agree Lloyd should be first gone.

I like Kingsley but is he really that much better than Voss?

GWS have lost four of their last six games to Adelaide, Bulldogs, Sydney and Fremantle. Nothing to get excited about.

Both teams have been tested by injuries. I think in the end the performance of the highly paid experienced players between the teams was the difference. Toby Greene, Hogan and Whitfield stood up, whereas some of ours went missing at critical moments like Weitering, McKay (0 goals) and TDK.

Not saying Voss is the best coach for the job, but fmd some uncharacteristic errors from Weiters, 1 point from Harry and an average game from the $12m man would make any coach look bad.
