Brendan Bolton was the senior assistant and midfield coach at Collingwood under McRae in the premiership year. Just saying.

Based on his senior coaching experience at Hawthorn and Carlton I'd suggest. Skipworth has worked his way up the line and impressed.

I'd also argue that Bolton never had the team to win at Carlton. I consider him a transitional coach and don't evaluate his ability by results.

Just wondering, but if there are changes to assistant coaches at year's end, and Scott Pendlebury were to retire at year's end, would he be a worthy addition to assistant coaches?
Almost certainly - reckon pretty much every club would be interested.

But also wouldn't be surprised if he played on.

Would’ve enjoyed seeing how he’d done if he’d taken over a better team.

Not entirely convinced he’d have been good enough to win it all but think he might’ve been able to surprise a few.

Buckley is easily my first choice of who is available. Had time out to retrospect on where the game is moving to. Strong enough to appoint strong assistants unlike Voss.

Has explained numerous times key things for Carlton. We rely on a small group of stars. He wants 18 players accountable on transition rather than have star players. Players like Charlie C let their direct opponent run off way too much creating overlap for the opposition. Others guilty on this too (Motlop over a period of 2 years as he sags off). Unconditional forwards to apply right pressure.

The exits from defensive 50 lack handball chains and waves of runners. It is a non negotiable in todays game.

The stoppage/contest is just a baseline ingredient for everyone.

We have the wrong coach for the time period. Voss was perfect for 2008-15.

He'd relate well to a lot of the players then
They can sit down and draw circles in the dirt together.
Am torn on who would make it as my preferred coach at this juncture. The fact Voss has not pivoted at all over 4 seasons is staggering. That sort of stubbornness, lack of self awareness needs to go. I would also relieve Cripps of the captaincy. But have been on that for years. Great player but not a good captain.

Sadly I think too much of our fan base would struggle to get around him due to his Pies history (which is probably not helped thanks to Malthouse).

Which of course is silly.

President has come out and publicly backed Voss

... Goneski
Yep, sounds like 'full backing of the board'

Unless there is an issue with the audio in that clip or some zealous editing Priestly does not give any indication of Voss's future, contrary to the journo stating he'll see out his current contract. All I got from Priestly in that grab was

(slight paraphrasing)

"Vossie's in good shape...some things we need to address...he and the whole coaching team are focussed on those things that need to be addressed to get some momentum going in our season..."

I think Vossy is in real trouble if he doesn’t fix this in the second half of the season.

The issue with Buckley was never a lack of tactical nous - that's what the assistants are there for

When does Voss contract expire?

I think he’ll struggle to hold onto his job once blues are out of finals contention

I’d be happy if Wright could do something like this.

Head of Football
Out:
Lloyd
In: Best available, strong leadership, knows modern football

Coach
Voss:
Give Voss the second half of the season to bring his game plan up to modern football. Keep our defence, spread ball to outside, speed on the ball and attacking scoring.

If Voss can’t or won’t do this, then move him on.

Senior Assistant
Out:
Hansen
In: Hinkley, Simpson or someone that has been a senior coach before.

Assistants
Out:
All
In: Modern thinkers, that aren’t afraid to challenge the way we do things.

Development Coaches
Out:
All
In: N.Lappin & whoever he wants.

Recruitment Team
Austin:
Change our current philosophy away from endurance contested players. To modern speedy, kicking, IQ players.

Focus on trade and FA, our draft hands are already decided, for the next few years with FS and NGAs.

Be bold and ruthless at the trade table, this is where we are going to get better quickly.

If we feel Austin can’t do this then move him on.

Recruiters
Bolster this team to find some hidden gems outside of Coats and State Leagues.

Like the idea of employing Eddie Betts to find us some elite small forwards, he’d be best placed to know a special talent.

New Role
Head of Player Engagement

Controls player leadership, player mentality (psychologists), player culture, player personal growth.

Takes the burden off the coaching group and would be designed to change our losing, sooking, turning on the coach culture
