Thread was merged. I beg to differ, he's super biased and not that good. Also has the charisma of an anchor.

That goes for many ex AFL player commentators. Like Hodgy likewise has the charisma of a hedgehog.

Nothing against them personally but they put me to sleep.

Living in Victoria I usually have to watch the Fox coverage of our games, usually Sunday afternoon, and it often seems to be Adam Papalia and Pavlich. I watched the Saints game, and my goodness was is biased. Pav was basically speaking from the Saints point of view almost the whole time, what they needed to do to win, how they were doing it, barely Eagles. He seemed so hesitant to say anything complimentary about us. The dude clearly had a hangup. I mean its not surprising, but it's so unprofessional, made it unmatchable. He was a great player but its clear he has no business even being a little unbiased commentating Eagles games. He makes Eddie Maguire commentating Pies games seem impartial, and at least Ed was entertaining (though Pav is special comments). The club should put in complaints if it hasn't already. Not a big deal in the grand scheme, could turn down the volume but I want the crowd noise. Just wish he'd bugger off when the Eagles are playing.

This is every game between a Vic club and non Vic club, all the between quarters analysis is centred on the Vic club. If they are behind it's what they have to do to win, if they are in front it's what they are doing well. In Pav's case it's his antipathy towards us, with the rest of them it's their Vic centric attitude and playing to the largest viewer base.

It's not paranoia if it's true.

Just watched the 1st half again of Sundays game to see if my thoughts on the umpiring and commentating were justified, and they were.
One particular bit of play was our first free kick for the game, after Geelong already had 6 or 7.
The one where SDK rode Oscar into the ground and tackled him in a marking contest.

One commentator, Pap's I think, said well executed tackle, something like that anyway. Then the free was paid and Pav was like oooo thats' a 50/50 to me. Pretty lucky, think the umps missed that one. Then one of them even went "WA Day"

So the guy (Brockman) who has helped the AFL midfield become more cohesive and is showing traits much needed on the list is at risk but the guy (Rawlinson) who is still finding his feet at WAFL level is being kept on? Yep seems well researched.

Foxsports and AFL media play the same trick. If you want engagement, piss off eagles fans. It's a fun little game they play. Damian Barret has mentioned this numerous times in the past.

I dont notice it with some commentators. I think the play by play ones are usually better actually.
