They went to the game.

No TV coverage. Or if there was it was in B&W on a tiny screen. So everything was a clash and you had to listen to Lou Richards or Jack Dyer to work out who was who. Yes, they were indeed nightmarish tough times.

We were so poor that even when I was attending the games at WO it was in B&W!

You try an tell young people of today that, and they won’t believe you.

Yep. That's a clear free kick to ... ummm ... the player in blue.

Absolutely. It would be the worst jumper clash I have seen
I think we need to bring back the full red kit, unpopular because it featured in some dire losses but great for away games against West Coast, North, Carlton, Geelong and potentially Freo.

The ochre one? I liked that.

English has adapted. Lade's coaching must be having an impact.

Don't get stuck in a wrestle with the monolithic rucks. Tim won't win that battle so play to your strengths. Nothing to do with him being timid / not aggressive enough (whatever those things mean).

Been watching these vids - White does good analysis here.

We were tougher in the 70's . Now we've become a bunch of sooky la la's. Clash jumpers what a joke. If you can't tell the difference between who is playing who, well you should've gone to spec savers.
🥸

Tom Elliott on 3AW commenting on how wearing the clash jumper last night didn't make sense and also the low crowd number of 25,009.

I agree on the clash jumpers, can't see why we need them at all.and always prefer to see us in our traditional colours.
The Roos wanted the special (vintage?) jumper for their anniversary. Our normal one would have been too similar. I’ve had a soft spot for the white gear (but without the dog 🙄) ever since the 2016 EF 🙂

25k for a Thursday Night doesn’t seem like half a bad crowd to me between North vs dogs in July (I’m assuming it was freezing cold - not living in Aus atm). Especially when you take into account the home team was off a 90 drumming.

As a comparison, Essendon vs North got 35k on a Thursday (Essendon home) in early may when it’s a bit warmer. This happened before the wheels fell off at Essendon. I believe there was also more hope behind north at this time also.

It’s disappointing for north that they chose this to be there centenary game given the time slot. I always thought the cats were going to be the centenary game at the start of the year. They’d of got a much bigger crowd on a Saturday night.

I don’t understand how people could have a problem with clash jumpers. They should be used more. I can’t think of any reason at all clubs shouldn’t have a third kit that’s a completely different colour to the outer two.

Love what the suns have done with the pink kit, GWS with the all black. I’m almost certain if a club like Collingwood released a complete different flash kit it would sell through the roof, even if they only wear it a couple of times.

Pride in the club's tradition. That's why Collingwood don't like to change theirs I gather. The suggestion of an alternative selling through the roof could well be right but points to part of the motive in using alternate designs - making cash rather than maintaining tradition.

Alternate jumpers will eventually become 'traditional' though.

A lot of soccer clubs have a traditional alternate kit.

One of Arsenal's is often, though not always, blue and yellow.

Fans of the club value those colours just as much as they do their traditional colours of red and white.

If we don't give something new an opportunity it will never become traditional.

Problem is, alternative kits rarely hang around long enough to become anywhere near tradition. The underlying motive is almost wholly profit, and clubs are continually reinventing their kits to move more units.
