McInnes made a career out of being depth which can happen with talls. Chesser won't have the same luxury.

I agree but “reading the play” as an outside mid is overrated. The job is literally just to run up and down a wing providing options and overlap. The one part that requires reading the play is when to commit to a contest or hold width, it appears Chesser has been told to hold width more often than not which is pretty common in modern footy.

Where are wingman (including Chesser) have been let down in the past in both the afl and wafl team are both teams refusal to look for “tough” 45 kicks. You could see it at the games last year where we would have an open man 25m away completely free and burnt him to go long down the line due to our players reluctance to take the kick.

The AFL team has shown immense improvement in this respect this year although the wafl team still hasn’t seemed to grasp the concept.

If a player is so bad that them getting the ball is a real detriment to the team then their inability to read the play would be a good thing. Now if you'll excuse me I'm off to give Duggan a frontal lobotomy.

It's essentially do we give Chesser another chance or do we give that chance to one of our NGAs.

Maybe Chesser can play for another WAFL club for a year and see if he can be redrafted. I doubt he’d be picked up by anyone else as a DFA. There’s only so much weight clubs will be willing be give to 2019-2020 junior form.

Take away the fact he's a first rounder and anyone flying the flag for him to get an extension would be happy to see him shown the door already.

I don't say this lightly, I have more faith in Barnett coming good. At least he pulls a speccy out of his ass every couple of weeks.

Barnett is an immature boofhead who doesn't understand the intensity to bring to the level. I feel like he's a guy who will look back at 30 and wonder why he didn't understand the opportunity he had.

Chesser is just not very good. Missed too much development unfortunately to make a god footballer despite a chunk of athletic talent. Petch areas.
