I think that our recent development (last few years) has been generally really good. But you can only do so much for players who aren't fast enough, aren't big enough, can't jump, don't want to work hard or are always getting injured. So nobody will have a 100% hit rate.

Xerri, Curtis, Archer, Comben, Sheezel, Hardeman, Harvey, McKercher, Stephens, Pink, Powell ... are all looking like good development stories.

It seems like Goad has all of the tools and his attitude is good so I'm pretty confident that if he stays fit then he'll be a good AFL player.

Some interesting examples there.

McKercher is a high pick and performance wise the same question marks still exist. His disposal stands out as being poor.

How much has Powell improved? It's definitely a slightly upward curve but I'd argue if anything his impact has decreased slightly this season. In terms of quality of disposals I'd argue the last two seasons were better than this one.

Pink? He had a couple of games in defense last season and Clarkson panicked and turfed him for our other crap defenders.

We've found a role for Stephens.

Sheezel? He was ready to go from Game 1 and his best football was probably in season 1.

Sheezel's development between years 1 & 2 was pretty clear.

Pink and Stephens look like AFL players, even if fringe players. That wasn't the case 12 months ago.

Powell has absolutely improved over the last 2 years. He was barely getting into the side and some said that he wasn't good enough to get a contract.

McKercher's career trajectory looks great.

I think that some people have a black and white view that if something isn't perfect then it's shit. That's both in terms of players and out development track record.

We're doing really well with development, lately.

That's crazy talk JGreezy.

Xerri is a definite tick. Curtis is a possible tick. The rest you've listed - you're off ya 3KZ.

Curtis a 'possible' tick? That's nuts.

This is what I'm talking about. Unless a player is AA and has turned into the best player at their position they are considered as bad around here.

Curtis has become top 5 in the comp for his position.

Archer and Pink becoming regular AFL players is development, from where they started. It can be development without them becoming AAs.

Great post mate. I cannot for the life of me figure out how our very own supporters can't see the improvement in all the players you have mentioned and some that you didn't mention.

It's not so much the individual improvement they're denying, it's the fact that players can improve and it barely moves the needle at all

This week he's going into vfl as the only ruck, you'd think either Whitlock or trembath will chop him out however it's a great opportunity to maybe earn a debut the week after

My man Good Goad ripping shit up now.

4 kicks to half time, putting on a clinic
