Did you hear about the two thieves who stole a calendar?

They each got six months.

Feels like one of the biggest Game Days; 'finals like' dare it be said.
Haven't been this pumped since we pumped the Cats at Kotton-on park.

Just - beat - Collingwood

Likely we will be playing Hawthorn in the last round with them having to win to make the finals, will be a very difficult game.

Collingwood are still smarting from this loss in September 1893 at Victoria Park. No doubt Fagan has been using this win to gee up the players this week.

What are your recollections of spending that day at Vic Park 3KZ?
I remember Moriarty played a blinder. He later served with distinction in the South African War, as did a number of the lads.

It was quite a day actually. I was staying in the country at a place called Heidelberg. I got a ride on a carriage to the new train station and then caught the steam train to Clifton Hill. They were changing horses at the stable near Heidelberg station before heading into town and offered to take me the whole way for a sixpence, but I fancied a train ride.

After the game I walked to the Brunswick Hotel and we toasted Her Majesty and the players well into the night.

Actually Moriarty was just telling me the other day how he can't decide what's ruining the game more out of flooding or the flick pass.

Fix HTB, introduce last touch out of bounds free kicks between the arcs and start penalizing fake handballs and the game will look infinitely better.

Don't get me started in the game day thread Nunez.

Until they work out how to drain the grounds properly, flooding is always going to be a problem. Let’s hope this new Victorian Football League can sort something out, because the good lord knows the VFA couldn’t. They could start by banning farmers who are driving their stock to market from grazing their animals on the ovals during the week.

As for the flick pass, it has revolutionised football.

No more score reviews. Give the goal & boundary umpires back their power. No more subs. Just 4 interchange. Change the 50 metre rule to being 30 metres. Throw out the stand rule but be more diligent on the player on the mark not going over it unless "play on" is announced. A push in the back is a push in the back and should be awarded a free.

The Fitzroy Contingent
(Back) L-R Sloane, Weir, Banks, 3KZ is Football
(Middle) L-R Patterson, Speakman, Melling, ‘Feathers’ Swan
(Front) Musgrove, Cleft, Moriarty

I’m glad you asked M Malice

Here we all are before we embarked. We had our share of japes and it was a rum show at times, but we all got through unscathed, apart from the odd dose of clap and Banks, who had his left earlobe shot off. I hasten to add, the wound was self inflicted. Damn fool was cleaning his revolver in the barracks one evening and he left a round in the cylinder.

I am all for a Sunny Land coup d'etat at AFL house.

The bolded sounds good in theory, but what happens if in a close final/GF in the last minute of play a goal is given which retakes the lead, everyone can clearly see that the ball deviated off a post via the broadcast, but the goal/boundary/field umpires all missed it, in other words a howler mistake.

What would the reaction of most fans/media/players/coaches be?

A- Oh well, that's the way it goes, que sera sera.
B- Outrage at an avoidable error.
C- The team on the good side of the error- :D :trophy:

Would love our forwards to catch fire and nail shots from everywhere tonight

We all would - realistically and historically it’s much more likely to be other way around. Usual case of missing a shot 25m out in front and them snagging down the other end.
