Maybe it's controversal, but i would happy losing neale at the end of next season. The cap relief would be needed and our midfield is so loaded that we would be fine without him.
Even if he stays I expect it’d be on a reduced contract for maybe 2 years max so shouldn’t impact the retention of the younger guys at all.

Regarding Bailey.
I am not sure he would have his heart set on a pure midfield role.
He like a goal to much for that.
He can go missing and that is not good for a pure midfielder.
I think he has found his value and best position as a forward/wing/into the middle at times player.
Also likely to have a longer playing career doing this role.
He definitely wants a midfield role after what he said at the awards night during the week.

The question of how anyone would be prepared to lose Bailey has arisen here in the last couple of weeks. $1.5 million a year potential offers is why. Bailey's midfield output can be covered soon, there is depth on the wings, but his impact forward is not replaceable on the list at the moment. If Bailey goes Lohmann must stay.

A novel strategy when dealing with big vfl clubs would be to request one of their premiership cups instead of pics and players. Slowly strip them of their identity.

anyone with a hun subscription able to grab the brisbane players on this list?
91. Dunkley - 700-800k
71. Rayner - 750-850k
66. Andrews - 750-850k
65. Oscar Allen - 750-850k
40. Lachie Neale - 850-950k
20. McCluggage - 950-1.05m

One big fish of ours to consider is Zac Bailey. We obviously want to keep him but we will already know if we can do it $$ wise. If he's going to chase the $ we're better off trading him before he gets to Free Agency
Bailey is going to command huge offers next year, his year is very comparable to Warner and Pickett, especially his form in this last 7 game stretch. Both of their contracts are reported to be on 1.3m+ a year from next year.

Whatever we’re paying him, it’s going to be a luxury to role him out for that price next year. For that reason alone I think we run with it, try and make the most from there

Harris Andrews is being underpaid if accurate, should be in the Lachie Neale bracket, Josh Dunkley would be on a lot closer to 800K than 700K you would hope.

Damn drapes not on the list

Band one compensation for Allen (if that is how it pans out) is already a handy leg up from the AFL, similar to how the Demons got band one for the Frawley trade.

I'm sure if the AFL put together an assistance package for the Eales further to this, it won't be at the detriment of one specific club.

This is the point that has been missing from all of the commentary I’ve seen/heard on WC’s request…why should assistance come at our expense?

I think Bailey stays, similar to the other boys recently, will take a bit to keep but will do something long term - $1.1 or a bit more per year. No go home factor, doesen’t seem like one to shop himself and seems pretty settled and happy in Brissy.

He will get mega offers though.

Interesting one is Wash, articles written after the grandfinal last year saying ‘Lions close to new mega/long term deal’ but now, 6-8 months later still nothing.

No rush, but you’d think with Levi there he would be looking to square something long term away, soon enough.

In the current market I think most managers would be saying ‘let’s wait and see the size of offers before penning anything’

theres a bit of a divide amongst their supporters from when i went and read

fair few acknowledge his injury history and think a fresh start for something like a future first + something small on top would be agreeable.

others are demanding the likes of morris, mccluggage or rayner in return
