As has been stated elsewhere, Guehi's mistake is he didnt kick up a stink.

Hopefully we get him in 5 months time
I feel really sorry for him. He did everything right and I am amazed Palace couldn't secure a replacement given how well they are going and the Manager is very highly rated. They will struggle to keep Guehi happy from here.

Elliot is a role player who has scored some important goals over his time. Unfortunately he doesn't really fit in as a starter at a top, top team IMO. He doesn't have an attribute that is 10/10 that sets him apart. He is a good passer but not a great passer. He can strike a ball well when he cuts inside onto his left boot but he isn't consistent enough with his finishing He isn't slow but he also isn't super quick. Now all that might sound like I don't rate him but I do, he is a great super sub as he has quality that can help you win a game.

The reality is though at a club like Liverpool with the era we are currently in, he was only ever going to be an impact player off the bench. Completely understandable that at 22 he wants to be a starter somewhere and really get his career going.

I understand the goodwill towards him but it is a cutthroat move that big clubs make. We are up to our eyeballs chasing more trophies, we have signed a bunch of players for big money. Something has to give, we can't keep every single footballer simply because he loves the club and the fans love him. This is professional sport and sometimes you have to shake hands and go your separate ways.

Conversely, it helps build a good culture. Elliot wanted to leave for more first team opportunities. Liverpool treated him with respect and facilitated the move. The last thing you want is an Isak situation, respect the player and what they want.

And if he makes a leap, we buy him back.

Elliott is a solid EPL footballer but not quite a Top 4 level. He was really good in Klopp's last season with us, mainly coming off the bench. Later Klopp admitted he should've used him more in that season. I think he might have a career similar to Harry Wilson who I've always thought he shared some similarities with.

For years I've been critical of FSG's lack of investment in players and the criticism has been justfied IMO.

But credit where credit is due. FSG has finally..FINALLY...woken up and realised that Liverpool FC is an elite club which requires significant investment to remain elite. Mind you, we had to sell some players so it wasn't all owner contributions.

I'm gutted for Harvey Elliot that we had to let him go (don't think he'll be back despite the buy back clause). Also gutted for Guehi that we couldn't get him over the line. What a selfish campaigner Glasner is. Hopefully we get Guehi in the first week in January.

But on the whole, pleasantly surprised with our window. Now this is what good owners do. Thanks FSG.

Now how good is it to be improving from a position of strength for a change, to be relevant and to be feared by the rest of the competition, instead of being laughed at, written off because of a lack of spending, running the same players into the ground and hearing our own fans sing "the reds have got no money but we'll still win league"? It got beyond a joke.

Oh man, ****ing scene lads. Get in! Wouldn't have dreamt these sort of days 10 years ago following this club, we deserve this. We've stuck fat, most of us rusted on. I know I've been there since a kid '99/00 as my earliest memories because of my dad. I seriously put it on him and questioned why he had to support this club when we were going through some real shit times 2010-2015. Signing Isak and the rest of the guys that have come in this window doesn't mean automatic success and titles I know that, it's just the privilege of seeing us splash this money and the best players in the world hold out on their clubs and other powers in world football to come to us.

I'm not happy about Guehi not going through, and I hope we go back for him but if you'd given us all the choice of Isak or Guehi it's obvious who we would've preferred on deadline day. Hopefully Gomez can stay fit as cover, I thought he was brilliant coming on against Arsenal. Szoboslai's growth from a foreign talent to one of the most dependable in any position at the club in the past 12 months has been special and a big credit to he and the coaches. Jones was really good the other night when he came on too, gave us the drive we were lacking from Macca. We've seen flashes of brilliance from Ekitike this season but he's not ready to lead that line for 50 odd games, good back up. Salah needs to pull his socks up, he's been out of form early. The whole back 4 against Arsenal were much better, and that was a lot better system wise from the whole team. Grav makes a huge difference in front of the back 4 too.

FSG deserve their flowers. We've all been critical, but 2 PL's, 1 CL, multiple domestic and world trophies, Klopp, Slot, Edwards, this transfer window and an Anfield upgrade. They're one of the best things that have ever happened to the club, all whilst keeping our soul and sticking to Liverpool morals.

Guehi will be pissed off with Glasner but he seems like the type to put it behind him quickly.

Glasner might well be at Man Utd by then

Reckon he's miles better than Harry Wilson though. Hope he kills it at Villa and scores goals against Arsenal and City to help us haha

Dont think that cos we missed out on Guehi thats it's over or he ends up signing a new contract. I reckon we just get him in 3 months time for like 10 million now instead of the 35. All is well.
We really should be making a deal now. 10mil for Jan. Gives Palace months to line up a replacement.

He's definitely not going to be signing any contract extensions at Palace.

They have missed the boat on getting anything worthwhile for him now.
