Is he out for most of next year?

It's not an ACL & it's a partial ACL. They stated in the article that it's going to be repaired not a reconstruction.

Might be more of a Lars type recovery time.

Btw, I'm on the Draper wagon no matter what.

Hippy will be out for at least half a season according to Sam Edmund he believes we have both Allen and Drapes coming though

its easy from the cheap seats but i dont understand how hipwood had knee soreness in april and didnt have a scan on that area until september (which was for an entirely unrelated issue)? impossible to know when the acl tear occurred but this seems fairly poor management from the club.

How do you know he didn't have scans?

Bit of a mini rebuild is needed because of 4 factors.

-Possible trades out.
-Injuries restricting team selection next year.
-Veterans losing form rapidly. (Charlie looks lost, Lester brilliant this year but time catching up fast. Lachie and Oscar struggling to play sore.)
-Need to build cohesion with the possible inclusion of Allen, Draper, Ridley, and ????, I wouldn't be surprised if another big name is considered.

Time for concern but not time to panic.
Hopefully the premiership window remains open for a few years.

We have been resetting on the fly, no need for a mini rebuild or reset. Dont forget we are still playing 8 players 22 or younger and they all will be better with another preseason.

Essentially swapping Ah chee, Starc for Allen and Draper helps us with structure, and with Payne, Ainsworth, Coleman back on top of the other injured players we will be right at the pointy end again - just need a bit of luck with injury, and not so much of a brutal draw so player management can be considered more. Cats draw would be nice

Hipwood played with a partial ACL for months

We have had a long injury list as well.. Linc, Coleman, Doedee (2 games between them)
Payne and Answerth be out for a while coming into 2026.
Hippy also if he goes for surgery.
Question is how many players can you pay top $ for to play so little.
If we did add all 4 of Allen, Draper, Lewis and Ridley..
Then loose Starc and AhChee.

Linc, Coleman and Doedee should all get relatively uninterrupted full preseasons.

Linc was fighting to get back for finals before putting the pin in it, which means he’ll be right to go in a couple months for preseason. Kiddy’s latest issues was soft tissue stuff; again shouldn’t impact his preseason. And Doedee went for surgery but I think it was on his wrist, no? If he’s impacted it won’t be for long.

It should just be Payne and Answerth out for extended periods next year at this stage

Linc was fighting to get back for finals before putting the pin in it, which means he’ll be right to go in a couple months for preseason. Kiddy’s latest issues was soft tissue stuff; again shouldn’t impact his preseason. And Doedee went for surgery but I think it was on his wrist, no? If he’s impacted it won’t be for long.

Probably Hippy too. Even if the return from a partial tear is faster, I'd be surprised if he's back earlier than mid year. (mid season)

Coleman was supposed to be back this year then injury after injury so too Doedee
So I believe it when they back.

Nothing to do w that last night. Jez was due to roast him after Ryan had somehow dominated him for a few years.

But Ridley is still better when fit in that role & we need senior help in the air next year up fwd. especially since we’re definitely losing Ah Chee too.

He’s done it before and would be a more natural fit than Gardiner, could swing back perfectly like Ah Chee, and would give a better defensive presence than a Smith or Day. Experienced head to help Morris n Allen shine as well. Would love to protect Gallop & let him develop at his own pace as much as we can.

Just a sideways thought. Know it may suck for him after finally playing his career best footy the last few years but circumstances may require it.

Also pls draft the best KPP at state level with whatever late picks we have

Plus he's fit , durable and mostly makes good decisions when he gets it.

Would throw a curve ball at the opposition as well.
