I also don’t think any club on earth would have been giving Chesser a two year contract offer with eight weeks left in the season.

His last month was a very strong platform to go to contract discussions on the back of, but imagine the outcry if we’d extended him again while he was toiling away to some incredibly forgettable WAFL games midseason and seemed miles off the squad.

Agreed. But we’re also talking about 18th place who won 1 game for the year. There’s hardly an excess of talent.

For all his nothingness he has at least shown he has athletic traits capable of an AFL career. Thats a shit ton more than a handful of others on the list who barely look like they’re WAFL quality.

If this is Chesser for Hollands... I'm mortified. If it's Chesser for something else. I'm ok with Wilson, Lord or Moir coming the other way. Their first might be good too.

Chesser for Hollands is a huge talent upgrade but the off field issues probably aren’t worth it

I don’t disagree, but yet another challenge with Chesser is he doesn’t look WAFL quality when he’s in the WAFL.

For his sake he’ll hope it was just the injury hampering him, and lots of guys look better the higher up the pyramid they go, it just clicks for them, but watching WAFL every week desperate for someone to show anything it was so rarely Chesser.

Underscoring all of this is I want to keep him and I’m annoyed he’s leaving, but I also think you can’t blame the list managers for not having an offer in front of him given what he had shown for most of his career and even the vast majority of this season.

What do Carlton even offer to us for him?

Not much.

Player swap like Moir ain’t going ti happen, he just signed and Chesser not the sort of player that they have to go trying to satisfy us with much or get him out while he’s contracted. Will be a token pick or part of a big deal that you won’t be able to really assess what we got.

However you need to understand ours, so you and your manager need to convince Carlton to offer a fair value trade.

Otherwise, no decent trade capital offered by Carlton, then we take you with pick 1 in the PSD.

Not at all fussed by this and actually suspect the last month of the year (and the contract offer) were just trying to extract some sort of value for him

Club has cap space they could quite easily keep him if they rated him

Sadly for us we have been reluctant to trade with any sort of gumption and are now known as soft ***** at the trade table.
