I hope we're still asking questions of Sheldrick, Erasmus, Tsatas, both Warner's and Ed Allan.
Any of them would be great additions to our team and are all in the right age bracket.
I hope we are doing anything at this point. At present we just seem to have ass over desk and a line of clubs waiting to have a go

We seemingly have no list plan from here. We lost 2 players we expected to keep and now what ?

I’d happily pay the airfare for chesser to leave. He really has sucked a lot of people on this board into thinking he has game when in reality he’s a low possession, injury prone list clogger who will be suited to Carlton. Would take the risk on Hollands

Carlton traded 26 + F3
For 28 + holland after 3 years at the Gold Coast and was a pick 7

Carlton want chesser as steak knives when they come for pick 2

Some very wishful and low percentage think happening atm.

- Chesser for Moir ain’t happening. OOC Chesser is not a player you tap a young player on the shoulder who just signed for you to move in a trade. Options as they are now.
-Elijah Hollands? Best 23 but has baggage and not sure it’s a path to go down with a young group.
-Motlop OOC and blues fans think he is keen to go home to WA, offer him enough to say yes.
-Acres? Best 23 but not sure the mature age players we bring in should be wingers. Can fill them with the young blokes.
-Take a token pick.
-Line up an OOC replacement at another club. McVee?

A contracted Ryan for future is just bad business and we don’t need picks for this years draft. Saints F2 could be anywhere. Get aggressive to get one out of the Saints or another club and make it a 3 way trade.

A trade period that at some stage during the year looked like possibly Warner, Cameron, Starcevich and Erasmus. To really only being linked with one player seems concerning.

Just hope they have somethings up their sleeve. Even if it’s buy low, just have to do it smart when this happened to the Hawks a couple of years ago. Missed the ‘bigger’ names in McKay, Ratog Plan B was Chol, Gunstan, Ginni and Mass and that seemed to work out well.

This next 2 years is huge to build to be 8 win team or young Vic players might still continue to leave for offers at the same contract which is a little bit of a red flag and even more so when that club is having an exodus of some of their best players and a player who is from
A Grand father/father/son connection

Cal on Goss show.

Sounds like token picks for Ryan (F2) and Chesser (Future pick).

Said he can’t get a read on the draft. Murphy Reid would be in the top 6 if he was in this draft. Picks 11-40 are around the same quality as other drafts but the top 10 lacks star quality. If the Eagles went Duursma and CDT with pick 1 and 2, he’d struggle to predict who Richmond takes and who makes it through to Essendon.

Goss asked about Jed Walter and he said lots of clubs will be asking the question but can’t see the Suns letting him go.

Didn’t link us with anything.

When was the last time 5+ players moved from WC to other clubs in a two year period?

Late 90s surely

Ball and Fewster at the end of 1999, then Gehrig, White and Metropolis end of 2000.

How can he say picks 11-40 are similar but pick 17 last year is top 6. Ridiculous. There are picks in the 40s last year that are comfortably 1R selections this year. I agree when he says he can’t get a read on the draft.

An F2 is not enough for Ryan. We would be in the same position holding onto him as getting an F2 for him, just without a year of a Ryan on the list.

I understand that Chesser's value will be very low but we should use the threat of the PSD to extract better value.

Why do they think he’s keen to go home? No idea.

Why offer him enough to say yes? Because it’s probably better than a token pick when we have picks everywhere if we get assistance. We’ve probably already got enough picks to bundle up. Can’t keep adding 8 x 18yo. Not a fan of many of the Blues trade options but was just giving the option we have to play with. Moir because he was an Eagles fan even though he recently just signed on isn’t realistic unless it’s a huge $$ offer and I can’t seeing that being a legit scenario.

Out of the options I put forward for Chesser trade, I’d go the McVee path but that race might already be run and won.

Yeah, he did have Reid top 6 in his rankings in November? He might have been giving his rankings, Maybe he thinks teams thought they’d bet on the higher ceilings of last years crop rather then the safer level of a Reid/Sharp type?. I’ll have to listen to it again because I wasn’t fully listening in.

Saying Murphy Reid would be top 6 in this draft is a bit meaningless considering that he was rated top 5 in last year's draft before being a big slider for some reason. If there was a redraft of last year he'd be in the top few picks.

But that said, if the top six of this draft are around the Murphy Reid level it makes things simple - keep the top two picks, just take Sharp and Duursma.

Actually we won’t be by holding him, another year older, his level of performance will continue to drop off. Round 2 seems right and if it’s a future one so be it

He had Murphy Reid in the top 6 last year in his own personal rankings from memory, so saying that he would be top 6 this year in his own estimation isn't really a big leap for Cal.

We'd be foolish not to ask the question of Tsatas. It's a cheap option with great upside, and very little downside given our Salary Cap and Midfield depth.
Agreed. I think he's best suited as a winger and is a better version of Chesser.

Ryan was one of our better players this year. He would have been better if we could deliver the ball into the F50 properly. I'll take another year of Ryan over Owies. Hell, I'll take the rest of Ryan's career over Owies and eventually Cripps.

A F2 for Liam Ryan is probably the best we could hope for aside from using him in a pick upgrade.

I’d rather a player than pick for Ryan and Chesser. A Steele, Heath/Dodson, Barrat, Boxshall type with later picks involved if needed to balance it out. Our team is young enough as it is, especially with more draftees coming in, need some more mature bodies to help out the youth.

We can get a future 2nd for an uncontracted Ryan next year if we want, the point of trading him out under contract would be that it actually benefits us now, because we could definitely use another season of him in the forward line given the other options are spud owies, a 34 year old cripps and a bunch of young unproven guys.

If the Saints don't want to offer anything worthwhile for him this year then just say sorry Liam you'll have to see out your contract. No one does our club any favours so why should we keep giving them out?
