It depends what has happened, assuming its his repaired ACL and he has a tear in the graft, I would think its going to be the same recovery time, basically having another reco

Partial tears to normal ACLS dont usually work with just rehab, I assume hes having another graft in the knee unless they can fix it which I doubt
He's out most of next year unless there's something unusual about it.

Caylen Murray and Matthew Owen, our academy boys next year, both midfielders, not necessarily "high bids" as it is a long way out and a lot could happen in a kids draft year but could be first rounders. I've seen very little of both but from what I have and some reports on them would prefer Caylen Murray if we can only match 1 of them due to potential new matching bids rules.
I wouldn’t be surprised if both are top 20 prospects atm.

What’s the pitch for Owen? Like Murray but looks pretty small and haven’t seen much contested work from him, looks a good mover and nice ball use though

Saw this on FB and thought I’d share although it has about as much information or relevance as any of my posts lol. No idea what Eagle Nation is either:

Posted on twitter as well. Gave no indication what "SEN and some other sports programs" refers to or what reputable journo has actually linked Choc with a move away to West Coast.

Unless WCE are offering a 1.5 mil deal to Neale, I highly doubt he leaves us.

He wants another flag, and we will give it to him.

They can have him… for 35 firsts. If Cutler’s value was 34, according to Dylan, then Neale would be worth just a little more.

Newly crowned All-Australian Lion Zac Bailey has become one of the competition’s most wanted as he prepares to enter restricted free agency next season.

Brisbane’s Darwin-born midfielder-forward was a first-round pick eight years ago out of Norwood after relocating to South Australia in 2016 to attend Prince Alfred College.

After missing out on Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, Adelaide are tipped to be one of the most aggressive suitors for Bailey, who is averaging a career-most 20 disposals this year, while kicking 34 goals in 23 matches so far.

The Crows have focused their recruiting efforts on home-grown products or players with South Australian ties, but they also tried to lure Errol Gulden out of Sydney with a gigantic long-term offer.

That strategy helped net them Jordan Dawson, Izak Rankine, Isaac Cumming and Alex Neal-Bullen, while Port Adelaide beat them to Jason Horne-Francis and Jack Lukosius.

Essendon have also been raised as one of the Victorian clubs poised to try to woo Bailey, on a deal worth as much as $8 million across six years.

However, one list management source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was discussing a contracted player, told this masthead that “every team in the competition would want him”.

The same source indicated that Bailey could command an annual salary north of $1.5 million, while another felt that was on the high side but that a player’s worth was whatever a club was willing to pay them.

St Kilda made Wanganeen-Milera the league’s first $2 million player last month on a two-year deal to hold off the Crows and Power.

There is no indication from the Bailey camp that he would push for a move this year, and clubs believe the Lions will move heaven and earth to retain one of Chris Fagan’s favourites.

Bailey is a fortnight from turning 26 and playing the best football of his life, including racking up 27 touches, six clearances and a goal in last week’s qualifying final defeat to Geelong.

I think Ridley is a lot more than white noise. 110% for real for mine, it just comes down to whether a mutually beneficial outcome can be reached with what levers both clubs can pull (in conjunction with a few other clubs more than likely).

You might have a few clubs in trade time that are just a dick to deal with. But I reckon the real professional clubs just work together & see what they can work out.

More than impressed with our back end departments over the last few years. No reason to doubt them now. They have all the medical records of the potential inbound players & we haven't been a club to overpay any players, so I have no reason to go chicken little and fear the worst.
Essendon a bit easier to deal with at the trade table hopefully now their old genius got moved on

Damn there's some quality on that injury list. I hope they can all make it past 100 games.

Question for the brains trust:
Which of these guys would be available for round 1 next year?

You'd think Neale, Doedee, Coleman and McCarthy provided they don't get other injuries.

Not sure what the return from Hipwood from that partial graft tear would be.

Achilles is around a 9-10 month injury based on some recent examples, so back around the bye for Answerth.

Patella tendon rupture closer to 12 months so after the bye next year for Payne.

Another balanced mid. Good ball user. Good runner.

I don’t know where Owen would fit in to our midfield and I don’t know if he can play forward.

Might be one we lose.

Both kids were selected for the AFL futures game on Grand Final day, so that tentatively puts them in the top 50’ish 12 months out from their draft.

I should have done that myself >

AI Overview

No, a partial ACL tear generally has a shorter recovery time than a complete tear, with partial tears often resolving in 3 to 6 months without surgery, while complete ACL tears usually require surgery and a recovery period of 6 to 12 months or more. The key factor is whether surgery is needed; if a partial tear causes instability, surgery may be required, extending the recovery timeline.
That would also be considering advice for non-professional athletes, where it is less of an issue if it tears fully at a later date. Partial tears have come up a few times in AFL and other leagues I follow and each time the player has undergone surgery which resulted in the full 9-12 months recovery. The main benefit is that there is less likely to be complications resulting in further issues like in Kiddy's case.

I believe we have a good solid core of players still but a list rejuvenation of sorts won't hurt us. With the likes if Allen and Draper coming in it will help our current weaknesses. We could still use some speed and crumbing forwards as well as Defenders Big and Small. Interesting times ahead for list balance coming our way.

Do we need 32 year old mid with a long history of soft tissue injuries?
Might be low risk high reward at this stage of his career. Just to replace a player of Neales experience and prevent our young mids from having to play too much full time mid. Bailey and Rayner need to keep that balance of forward mid as I think our forward line smalls/ mediums are an issue.

Even leaving Rayner and Bailey with that forward/mid balance we’ve still got both Ashcroft’s who can spend more time in there plus Annable and potentially Jaspa next season. Don't mind the idea a couple years ago but there’s not really a spot for him imo

The other good thing about bringing in such players is the hunger mentality.... sometimes some people are just content winning a flag and after being at the top or so long don't have the drive.

Lets look at potential best 22 players that havent won a flag yet.

Mccarthy, Doedee, coleman, Draper, Allen. (possibly Ridley)

If we bow out this year
Gardiner, levi, potentially Marshall.

So theres up to 9 players there.

Hypothetical, it might be worth considering trading Neale if he does want to go. He is starting to get a bit banged up and this will be our only opportunity to get good value out of him going. If WCE for example want him, they are so desperate they will pay a lot for him. IF he is wanting to go, it would genuinely be worth thinking seriously about.
